Even the most ardent Cardiff City and Burnley fan would admit that today’s sole Premier League fixture falls someway short of justifying the “Super Sunday” tag bestowed by a certain broadcaster.

Interest in the match is also minimal from a Fantasy Premier League point of view, with not a single player on show selected by more than 10% of FPL bosses.

James Tarkowski (£5.0m) and Joe Hart (£4.6m) are the two most-owned players taking to the pitch at the Cardiff City Stadium and will carry the hopes of 9.5% and 9.0% of FPL managers respectively of a second successive clean sheet following the 4-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend.

Tarkowski has two goals from set-pieces this season and both he and Ben Mee (£4.9m) – as well as dead-ball specialist Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£5.9m) – will be hoping to exploit their hosts’ weaknesses at set-play situations: Cardiff have conceded more attempts from free-kicks and corners as any other Premier League side in home matches in 2018/19.

Sean Dyche has unsurprisingly named an unchanged team from that hammering of the Cherries last Saturday, though the fit-again Steven Defour (£5.4m) makes his long-awaited return on the substitutes’ bench.

For Cardiff City, there are four changes, three of which are in attacking positions.

Josh Murphy (£4.8m) replaces Junior Hoilett (£5.2m) on the left flank, while Callum Paterson (£5.2m) will play just off striker Kenneth Zohore (£4.8m). Bobby Reid (£5.3m) and “out of position” midfielder Danny Ward (£4.5m), City’s erstwhile front two, drop to the bench.

Neil Warnock’s other change is enforced, with Sol Bamba (£4.5m) replacing the injured Lee Peltier (£3.9m). Bruno Ecuele Manga (£4.5m) thus moves across to right-back to accommodate Bamba’s return.

Bamba, indeed, is the only Cardiff outfielder starting today who is owned by more than 1% of FPL managers.

Neil Etheridge (£4.6m) is by far the Bluebirds’ most popular asset in FPL and sits level with Hart on 33 points in the game, having kept two clean sheets and made two penalty saves this season.

Cardiff have shipped 12 goals in their last three league matches, however.

Cardiff City XI (4-4-1-1): Etheridge; Bamba, Morrison, Ecuele-Manga, Cunningham; Camarasa, Ralls, Arter, Murphy; Paterson; Zohore.

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Hart; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor; Gudmundsson, Westwood, Cork, Lennon; Vydra, Vokes.

Why are some watches so expensive? Can anyone honestly say that they can tell the difference between a £100 watch and a £1,000 watch?

    1. Holmes
      8 years, 27 days ago

Just in the name of "Brand and Status"

      Waste of money...

      £1,000 isn't too expensive

      Plenty going for £30k+ lol

£1,000 is expensive when you consider that it's just a watch.

It is like anything else init.............

A car is just a car and a bike is just a bike but that does not stop people forking out megabucks for them.

A quality made watch does stand out to the trained eye for its build quality and craftsmanship needed to make such an item.

I was asked to write a poem about clocks and watches in school and this is what i came up with.......

You have big clocks and small clocks and clocks they call watches.

    7. Bennison

Difference is the quality, if your into watches then you'd pay the money. Same with cars, clothes and shoes

£3-95 from Argos. Tells the time. What more do you want?

    9. XabiAlonso
      8 years, 27 days ago

Some can tell you the time more accurately so they should cost more..........

      1. Sánchez
        8 years, 27 days ago

By what amount? 2 milliseconds? Really worth the extra cost?

        1. Dr Dream
          8 years, 27 days ago

Aye. I remember a comedy sketch once about who needs a watch that's so accurate...can't for the life of me remember who did it.

    10. Nascimento
      8 years, 27 days ago

When I was studying towards chartered accountancy I had to do a case study on a luxury watch company - provided a fascinating insight. I'd definitely recommend looking into it further.

    11. Batchain
      8 years, 27 days ago

I bought a 5 pound watch. It keeps perfect time. That's what I want a watch for really.

      1. Dr Dream
        8 years, 27 days ago

        Aye.

    12. Dr Dream
      8 years, 27 days ago

I only pay about 10-20 quid for mine, or rather the kids do.

I do a lot of gardening and practical stuff so I don't really want anything worth much on my wrist so I don't have to bother about it. It also gives my kids something to buy me for Christmas or birthdays because they tend to look a bit used up after a year or so.

My lads wear some good watches though...

      1. Sánchez
        8 years, 27 days ago

I know. I'd be scared to wear a £1000 watch in case I lost it or broke it. So all it becomes is an ornament.

        1. Dr Dream
          8 years, 27 days ago

Even a hundred quid one tbh. I wear a watch out of habit and just don't think about it's cost...and quite happy with that.

    13. Sánchez
      8 years, 27 days ago

      Defunct piece of technology.
Soon as you have a mobile phone, which serves loads of purposes including telling the time, a watch becomes little more than a bracelet. Which, has no function.

      1. Dr Dream
        8 years, 27 days ago

Rarely use a mobile phone. Surprisingly a lot of folk over a certain age actually manage to walk around without a mobile phone stuck in their face...

        True story.

        1. Sánchez
          8 years, 27 days ago

I took till 2007 to get one. But since then, I've not had a watch anymore

          1. Dr Dream
            8 years, 27 days ago

I regularly leave mine at home because I like to be "out" when i'm out on my own...not partly "in" and contactable.

    7. Pep says

Double Pool defence with great attacking output could be a nice differential considering City's/Chelsea's don't offer the same attacking threat and Spurs are constantly under threat of rotation.

TAA Robbo and Salah may be the way forward

    8. XabiAlonso

    Foster/AWB/Wilson/TAA

    1. Pep says

Midfield looks very light and Lacazette isn't worth the money given the likes of Arnie and Mitro are available for 2.5m less and are the talisman of their teams

        Laca worth every penny
