We have updated the Watchlist after the events of Gameweek 7.

The biggest changes see some budget options at the back make their way into the goalkeeper and defender sections.

We’ve gone over the changes we’ve made to those areas of the Watchlist in this article, with midfielders and forwards to come later in the week.

Goalkeepers

Based mostly on fixtures, Alisson (£5.6m) has finally moved above Ederson (£5.6m). The two shot-stoppers will face each other in Gameweek 8 before Liverpool have two appealing fixtures against Huddersfield and Cardiff. Meanwhile, Manchester City follow-up their trip to Anfield with a home match against Burnley and an away day at Tottenham.

Over the next six fixtures, neither goalkeeper can support any fixture factors, either good or bad. We’ve also dropped Alisson down to a B for form as he has kept just one clean sheet in his last four matches. He also ranks 10th for form among goalkeepers on the official FPL app.

Rui Patrício (£4.5m), David De Gea (£5.9m) stay where they are on the list but their factors change slightly. The Wolves man retains an A for form but loses Favourable Fixtures. That’s because Tottenham and Arsenal are coming up in the next six. Meanwhile, De Gea and Manchester United receive similar treatment as they have to travel to Chelsea, Bournemouth and Man City. Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) keeps his place in sixth.

Bernd Leno (£4.8m) comes in for the injured Petr Cech (£5.0m). Arsenal have now kept two clean sheets on the bounce and continue to have decent fixtures. He keeps the place Cech held, just above Joe Hart (£4.5m), who was unable to add to his clean sheet count against Cardiff.

Mat Ryan (£4.5m) is a new addition to the watchlist. He comes on with a C for form but a Favourable Fixtures factor. No side ranks higher for defence on our Season Ticker over the next six Gameweeks than Brighton.

Wayne Hennessey (£4.6m) is coming to the end of his time on the Watchlist with some very difficult fixtures on the horizon. Martin Dubravka (£5.0m) remains bottom of the pile, but still in the conversation with Newcastle’s upcoming favourable fixtures.

Defenders

Marcos Alonso (£6.9m), Kieran Trippier (£6.2m) and Andrew Robertson (£6.3m) remain unchanged as the top three among defenders. The Spurs man keeps a rotation risk factor until we know about the injury to Serge Aurier (£5.8m).

Meanwhile, Matt Doherty (£4.5m) creeps above Aymeric Laporte (£5.6m) after a second double-figure haul of the season in Gameweek 7. He looks a more attacking option than the Frenchman, who remains our chosen Man City asset based on the fact that he is the only defender to have played every minute so far this season. With the aforementioned changes to Patrício, neither of these two options has a fixture-related factor.

Set piece takers Luke Shaw (£5.1m) and Jose Holebas (£4.9m) come next. The Man United man has a favourable fixture in Gameweek 8, while Watford’s Greek left-back faces a favourable run of games between now and Gameweek 12. Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) is still worth considering with Leicester ranked second for defence over the next six Gameweeks on our Season Ticker.

Then we have two new entries. The first is Shane Duffy (£4.5m), with Brighton currently top of the Season Ticker for defence over the next six Gameweeks. The centre-back also has two goals and two assists to his name so far this season. The other new face on the list is Everton left-back Lucas Digne (£4.8m). The former Barcelona man is joint-top with Doherty and Holebas for chances created among defenders over the last four Gameweeks.

As with Dubravka, DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m) sits at the bottom of the list waiting for Newcastle’s fixture-swing to complete itself after a Gameweek 8 trip to Old Trafford.

Despite his popularity, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.3m) moves off the list. That’s because his fixtures are set to stiffen up, and he no longer provides as much value as earlier in the season. The Crystal Palace man has risen to £4.3m, so does not open up quite as much room in Fantasy squads as before, and with Arsenal (home), Chelsea (away), Tottenham (home) and Man United (away) four of the next six fixtures, he is likely to be benched by anyone who does own him.

I think Wolves will surprise you. Their defence has been top 6 so far at least. They have an xGA of 5.07 which is third behind City and Liverpool. They've also played City once already (who have the highest xG).

Noooo. Mendy possibly on the bench this weekend - a tough fixture anyway - and then maybe everyone's getting him back in again. I ditched early, but it's probably worth holding now. Fraser trumps Knockeart, and Kane's fixtures go south after the weekend.

He almost certainly will considering Auriers injury, but honestly if Poch didn't start KWP against Hudders there's not much reason why he would start him at Cardiff aside from possible fatigue (meh)

You could spend your transfers on getting Kane(C) for Cardiff, and then get Aguero back in GW9; or maybe get a goalkeeper more likely to get a clean sheet this week.

Doing nothing is also an option.

I'd wait to see what happens in CL
Apparently Kane has a higher ceiling than Aguero this week with Aguero's mins being managed.

Who would you consider to be the best 4.5 option currently ? Obvious choices are Hoijberg and Billing. I think Westwood could be worth a punt though. He doesn't really compare all that well to the other 2 using stats comparison tool but has got a couple of assists in recent weeks. Any thoughts ?

If Gunnarsson drops again and returns from injury soon it will be him.

Good shout, difficult to gauge how he will be upon return though and may be phased back into the team over time surely ? Any idea on his injury status, how close is he to a return ?

Ultimately your 4.5mid is a 2 pointer when you need them. Don't overthink it. You want 2 points for as cheap as possible.

Vardy in for Aguero, and next gameweek bringing Sterling in as City cover. Good move?

its what your original team looks like that matters. Anyone with a functioning brain cell can whip up a decent free hit team

        Original team is
        Cech(!)
        Wan B Alonso Laporte
        Hazard fraser lucas Pedro richardlison
        Kun Wilson mitro.
Want to get in Kane for next Gw and have no WC. Free hit is usually reserved for blank game weeks but those tend to be low scoring week anyways and always think should use tc or bb on dgws anyways.

Just want to get some opinions on the best possible free hit team if I decide to pull the trigger.

How many -4’s have you taken so far this season?

    What is your current OR?

Would like to hear some stories of hits that paid off and ones that went sour.

8 pts in hits so far (2x4). Both paid off way better than I could have hoped (+21 points combined after the hits). OR 80k

      0 hits, 41,018OR

i'm usually very cautious with hits & i'd say max I'd do in a season is 5or so hits (from memory, may be wrong)

Just one hit for me so far which is a big slowdown from my first season ... not really felt the need though to be fair

Only one was bringing in Mendy and Rich gw2 for Mahrez and Pelts

-48 in hits, been a bit nuts. 53 immediate points gained from transfers. Currently at 201K Overall.

Just took another hit for a total of 52 points in 8 GWs. Nuts.Enjoying it though.

Please can someone explain how DDG is fourth on the Gk watchlist?

He shouldn’t even be on the watchlist, let alone fourth.

The amount of Salah & Kane sellers is very interesting. I’m holding both myself, I know what those two beasts can do when you sell them if they’re not injured.
