Aside from all the talk about Harry Kane, there are still several differential options available in Gameweek 8.

We’ve picked out three more players owned by less than 5% of Fantasy Premier League managers who can help propel you up the overall rankings.

This week we are turning to assets at Leicester City, Wolves and Manchester United.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m)

Ownership: 4.8%

A Gameweek 2 sending off and the success of James Maddison (£6.9m) has hit Jamie Vardy‘s (£8.9m) ownership hard in the early part of 2018/19. But the Leicester City man is still a great option to own for Gameweek 8.

In the last four Gameweeks, only four players have registered more shots on target than Vardy. He also ranks joint-third for shots inside the box and is still on penalties for Leicester City.

His next opponents are an Everton side still with just one clean sheet to their name in 2018/19. Vardy is especially fond of the Toffees having scored four times and assisted twice in his last five Premier League matches against them. In that run, he has won two penalties, scoring two himself.

Vardy looks like a good option for long-term investment too with Arsenal (away), West Ham (home), Cardiff (away), Burnley (home) and Brighton (away) also coming up in the next six Gameweeks.

Adama Traoré (£5.5m)

Ownership: 0.6%

Adama Traoré (£5.5m) may not have started a match for Wolves yet, but he is certainly pushing for one. The rapid winger has promised attacking returns if he can get some more minutes on the pitch.

In the last four Gameweeks, Traore has managed five shots on target, the same as Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.9m). He has achieved that in a fraction of the minutes, registering just 105 to Aguero’s 271 and Salah’s 317.

Wolves go to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in Gameweek 8 and look like they will have plenty of opportunities to score. Only two sides have allowed more chances considered to be ‘big’ by Opta in home matches than Palace this season.

Chris Smalling (£5.8m)

Ownership: 2.2%

Any Manchester United player is going to be considered a differential for Gameweek 8 after their surprise defeat to West Ham last week.

However, the nature of their upcoming fixture demands some attention from Fantasy managers.

Newcastle United come to Old Trafford with just one away goal to their name this season. Furthermore, they have the lowest shot tally on the road in 2018/19 and are in the bottom efforts on target too.

A clean sheet looks on for Chris Smalling (£5.8m) and his United colleagues, and the centre-back promises some attacking threat too.

The Magpies are in the bottom three for set play attempts allowed away from home so far this season, and Smalling has already found the net once in 2018/19.

Yeah, for Liverpool. City have lost 3-0 at Anfield last season and 1-0 (Wijnaldum winner) the season before.

City aren't as likely to score against that defense as people think.

January 14th it ended Liverpool 4 - Manchester City 3
          April 4th Liverpool 3 - Manchester City 0

I'm in the same boat with Robertson but it will either be a goal fest or a very low scoring match in my opinion.
Many will either regret benching Robertson or not regret it.. it's a tough decision, depending on the alternatives in your team offcourse.

Any thoughts on my tentative plan:

    GW8: Aguero > Arnie
    GW9: Pogba > Sterling
    GW10: AWB > TAA*
GW11: 2FTs to consider selling Ozil & Ramsey**; TAA allows me to bench both Wolves defenders (TOT)
GW12: TAA allows me to bench both Wolves defenders (ars)
GW13: Can play 4 defenders and bench Arnie (mci)

*Could be in GW9 (So I can bench Arnie against Spurs)
**One of these could be in GW9 or 10

I have 2FTs so the plan is pretty flexible. 0.0 ITB.

    Patrício
    Alonso, Doherty, Jonny
    Ramsey, Özil, Pogba, Hazard (C)
    Lacazette, Agüero, Vardy (V)

This. The FPL landscape will be completely different. GW13 is the 24th of November. Not far off two months away. No way you can plan that far in advance effectively.

        1. Deulofail
          • 10 Years
          7 years, 5 months ago

But Arnautovic WILL have that fixture in GW13, so why not plan to have the FTs available to avoid it?

Who says you even own Arnie by then? He may be injured, West Ham May be off form. Another bandwagon may (most likely will) appear that you get on over Arnie.

            1. Deulofail
              • 10 Years
              7 years, 5 months ago

It's not that far away. Arnie's fixtures are good until GW22. I'm unlikely to want to sell him after 4 good fixtures unless he's injured. But I can reassess that before I buy TAA (who could cover a different striker with a dodgy fixture anyway). I'm buying Arnie for his long-term potential. I'm not looking for a bandwagon.

Besides, this plan is tentative. But the more thought you put into the potential implications of your FTs, the more likely you are to be satisfied with your team when each GW arrives. Others will play Arnie against MCI, and IF I follow through on this plan, I will happily bench him.

Nowt wrong with forward planning and your post has it in abundance, but I tend to agree with the sentiment about unforeseen things scuppering your deep thinking.

The Kun move is brave but could work this week and bringing Sterling in to cover Citeh is shrewd, I feel. However, as a Sterling owner myself, we do have to consider KDB and his impact on our team structure.

I like the AWB upgrade in g/w 10, but thinking beyond three weeks is taxing my head tbh. Things will change.

Cheers man. It's just a way to keep double Wolves defenders through their poor fixtures without playing them so they can face and Cardiff and Huds in GWs 13 & 14, plus avoiding Arnie's 1 or 2 poor fixtures, plus saving FTs along the way for potential Arsenal exodus (could even sell Laca for Aguero later on).

I feel like writing it down makes it look complicated since there's a lot of new info to learn about someone else's team. But really there's not that much planning here, besides an awareness of the fixtures of the players I own, and preparing to avoid the poor ones them if I can. If I can't do this, I often don't buy the player. E.g. I wouldn't buy Arnie if I have to play both his poor upcoming fixtures.

              Thanks again

After all, people plan 2 and 3 way defensive rotations for 10 GWs, sometimes half a season or more. I've just suggested I may possibly rest a player in one week, and another player in a nother, and suddenly people think I'm a fortune teller.

I haven't really. It's just future consequences of my transfers this week, next week, and maybe the following week. That's 2 or 3 gameweeks. Plus the actualy transfers can change, but the main idea is to save a transfer this week, and see how it would help me later on.

    7. Deulofail
      • 10 Years

This "plan" is basically on transfer today, and one next week.

The rest are simply possibilities I allow myself by saving a transfer this week, mostly how it let's me avoid certain fixtures. Does no one else think about fixtures?

Is there any feedback on this, or are all the comments going to be useless? 😆 thanks

    GW9. Kane > Kun (c)
    GW10. WC!

    Option B
    GW8. Salah > Haz (c)
GW9. Haz or Mane > Sterling
    GW10. WC!

So do I do the Aguero-koki? I think that there's marginally more points in it, but there's the risk that I get an injury in the international break and have to take a hit to fix it.

    Reckon I can justify a -4 here?

    GW8: Ederson/Kun -> Fabs/Kane(c) [-4]
    GW9: Kane -> Kun (maybe)
    GW10: King -> Mitrovic

Means I’m stuck with double CPL for a few weeks, but Alonso, TAA & ASmith should be able to cover them for a bit.

    The Kane fear is REAL

    Ederson
    Alonso, Tomkins, TAA
    Salah, Hazard(c), Richarlison, Maddison
    Aguero, Arnie, King

    Stek, TAA, ASmith, Hudson
    Bank 0.3m, 1FT, WC available

I'm thinking the same transfers this week.
Other options are Salah to Son for one week saving a hit or roll FT & hope Kane doesn't haul.

God Jinswick, I hate these kind of posts! 😉

I don't like the Ederson downgrade, is a new level of faff beyond what I'm proposing prior to Burnley at home. I think that if we're looking at these kind of short-term transfers, it should be leading up to a WC, otherwise the rest of the team will suffer through lack of development.

it is a hard one, I'd probably say B.Silva just because there is a bigger chance for a 1-point cameo from him and it is a rare tough fixture for City

    Patricio
    WB PVA Doherty Alonso
    Salah Mane DSilva Fraser
    Kun Mitrovic

    Button Ings Robbo Stephens

With no Hazard and no Spurs assets, is this a good week to free hit? Or should I just keep it simple and do DSilva to Maddison?

Have no spurs cover so thinking....

    A) Mendy to Tripppier for exact cash
    B) Mendy to Holebas
    C) Start Bennett or AWB & save

Ideally would like holebas to free funds for possible wilson - Arnie later.

Hey guys, have to bench 1 player out of these, who do you suggest?

    A) Wan-Bissaka vs. WOL (already have Hennessey playing)
    B) TAA vs. MCI
    C) Doherty vs. cpl

    Cheers
