A week of international fixtures gets underway today, with two African Cup of Nations qualifiers and a cluster of friendlies kicking off a nervy period in which we keep our fingers crossed in the hope of our Fantasy assets returning to England unscathed.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

There are four players in action in the early hours of Wednesday, October 17 who then face a long-haul flight back from the Americas: Alexis Sanchez (£10.0m), DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m), Davinson Sanchez (£5.8m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.6m).

Davinson was among the substitutes in Spurs’ Premier League match against Liverpool immediately after the September international break, though Yedlin was thrust straight back into the Newcastle United starting XI for the visit of Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez sat out Chile’s previous two fixtures last month, while Jimenez was recalled early by Wolves as a precautionary measure in plenty of time ahead of Gameweek 5.

Manchester United are in action in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, October 20, so it remains to be seen whether Alexis features from the start against Chelsea after his exertions in Mexico next Wednesday morning. Jimenez and Wolves, meanwhile, take on Watford at 3pm on that same Saturday.

The good news for owners of Fantasy assets playing for Brazil and Argentina is that their meeting on Tuesday, October 16 will take place in Saudi Arabia, meaning an earlier-than-usual finish time for the likes of Roberto Firmino (£9.4m), Alisson (£5.6m), Ederson (£5.7m), Richarlison (£6.8m), Lucas Moura (£7.4m) and Roberto Pereyra (£6.2m) and a shorter flight back to the UK.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.8m), Sadio Mane (£9.9m), Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) and Son Heung-min (£8.3m) are among the FPL players who are in action in Africa and Asia next Tuesday, meanwhile.

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m), Aymeric Laporte (£5.7m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.2m) are some of the more notable “uninjured” players who won’t feature for their respective national teams over the coming week.

With this team setup you could end up with alot of bench points.

Play AC, 50/50 between BE imo.

The principle of captaining Hart was too much for me to bare. I'm still laughing at the cheek of it.

Vardy (c), GW5 14/15. 4 assists and a goal, plus no one else even had him, let alone captain. I only picked him because I was over-excited about being able to pick Leicester players for the first time in FPL.

    Hazard, Salah, Richarlison, Madison, 4.4
    Vardy, Mitrovic, Arnie

The jury is still out on Maddison wide left, for me. If you're going with no real big hitters up top, why not go Mitro/Arnie to Jiminez and upgrade Maddison to a City midfielder?

If I played my WC now, I would take a chance to go without Mitrovic.

Is it possible to have Laca + Wilson / King instead of Vardy + Mitro ?

        Mitro's next 3 fixtures couldn't be better.

Mitro is actually under big pressure now imo. He’s only got 1 return in his last 4, and if he comes out of a Cardiff away, Bournemouth home, Huddersfield away run without points, questions will be asked.

Yeah it gets pretty dead out here like the DZ.

It's only weird middle aged white women that come here and talk about worshipping.

The rock itself is more like a grand library to the aboriginal people here with different stories and concepts etched into it over millennia.

Doesn't stop the white hippies from hijacking it though haha.

These Cherries bug me so much.

I do like the management though and it leads to good flowing football on occasions. I like Wilson, it works for me.

I had Fraser since the start and he has been immense. Doing a convoluted switcheroo to lose him for (probably) Salah this week, but get Wilson so I still have Bournemouth next could of games. Their form is just so good and for a non top 6 they are very attacking. Soon they all need ditching though.

Partly because Haz, Aguero and Sterling are all captaincy options in the coming weeks and people have them already.

While nobody was seen as a good alternative and Kane stood out as being far and away the best choice (to the "masses" anyway).

Have my changes for the international break ready

Shaw to Lascelles ( see upside to Newcastle investment with stellar fixtures, backing their def for more clean sheets than Man U over the next 10 gws at least)

Neves to Knockaert ( while neves was a nice 2-3pts a week feel BHA are going to start scoring more frequently over the next 8)

Josulu to Murray(as above see Joselu time gone down but still got nearly all his pts since the start)
2ft and a hit, left with .6 ITB for a rainy day

At 75k atm hoping to break 25k by Guy Fawkes

    Ederson,Pope
    Taa, pereira, awb, Doherty, Lascelles
    Salah, Haz, Maddison, Richarlison, Knockaert
    Mitro, Murray, Aguero

    Doherty,

What type of defenders should be in a wc team? I have TAA,Alonso,Doherty,Bennett,AWB.
Should Trippier and Mendy replace Any of them?
And should Duffy get a spot over Doherty? I missed all of Doherty points, and now they have thougher games ahead. Maby a bit overkill with Doherty,Bennett and Patricio.

he probably is a rotation risk, certainly as much a Trippier. I can't afford him and Robertson, and Robertson seems more nailed and has better fixtures.

Delph being injured is a factor, but the 3 clean sheets in the league while Mendy was out, plus the need to focus on the CL shouldn't be ignored.

a bit knee jerk, but the 0.5 price rise was probably just as knee jerk. A dozen or so cheap strikers posting better scores and those chasing points probably weren't looking at fixtures when they bought or sold him.

I'm not so surprised Mitro dropped. Fixtures, schmictures... think it's two blanks in a row now and Fulham look pretty dire. I was never going to sell him before CAR but I do have an itchy trigger fixture given I've benched Jiminez twice for him and missed 10pts not to mention the wealth of decent options out there now.

Mitro is a surprise, but it matters not. I'm playing him through those upcoming fixtures; I'm sure his price will rise again as he bonks in a goal a game.

Fulham are dire in defence. All attacks to through or to Mitro, so I still think he'll score however many flow through the wrong end.

Been playing around with this idea in my mind. My views are, if kun -4 v Burnley, out scored Kane v West Ham, I'd feel hard done by as a Kane owner. Kane could even haul in a game like this. Risky business taking him out for a hit, for free I'd probably do it but not for a hit.

Salah > Richarlison and Wilson > Kane for a -4 cost me LMS 🙁

Playing deeper, West Ham don’t like Spurs, England duty, off form
Agüero 2 weeks off, at home vs Burnley, long term better option and cheaper
      No brained really

Just thought I'd give him another chance before selling. Not holding onto him past the West Ham game

Not the craziest idea for a captaincy candidate up against the Hammers defense!

Genuine honest opinion my good sir. I may stick it on him myself depending on how the international games go for him.

He's got 7 goals in 9 games against West Ham, he's only got a better goal scoring record against Leicester and Stoke. Definitely worth considering as captain for gw9..

Would be tempted tbh... mid price forwards doing quite well this year though is the issue

Sounds like you've got no idea. 1 striker in FPL is not a good strategy.

for 10 weeks or so, i went with Ibra-Diomande-Anichebe and it was one of the best period. Getting loads of premium midfield and defenders works...

I remember the Indian guy who did well last year and was on the scoutcast, he used 451 a lot. I have Kamara perma 3rd sub but will be playing 2. Wilson to Arnie in 2 weeks.

the mid priced forwards are somewhat better value than the mids, whilst the defenders in the same price bracket are even better value than that.

      tempted by 4-3-3 tbh

I don't think it works. Mainly because the bench is then either expensive or unusable. With rotation (Wolves aside) being quite common, I don't think you can carry two fodder forwards.

This .... you have to bench 3 outfield players and the cheapest playing categories are defenders and mids.

Add to this the emergence this season of mid priced forwards matching or beating their similarly priced midfielders ... it is a simple decision that doesn’t really need over thinking 🙂

If you were only allowed 11 players the 541 tend to be the best tactics. As others have mentioned you can have Doherty, AWB & Fraser on the bench if you play 343. That is a bench value of SP 14m. Should you play 541 you would need a bench of Ings Jimenez & Fraser to offer a similar upside. That would have a SP of 16.5m. You could risk Success, Kamara & Kennedy for SP 14m but you would be asking for trouble.

    4-3-3
    Pat/Fab
    Mendy Luiz TAA Doherty/Balb
    KdB Hazard Mane 4.5 4.4
    Aguero Bobby Arnie
