FPL half-term report: the 20 Premier League teams ranked by KPI data

This latest members’ article looks at the performances of the top-flight clubs this season from an underlying statistics point of view.

The aim is to pinpoint which areas all of the Premier League teams are strong in, as well as highlighting any weaknesses that the key performance indicators might betray.

Each statistic is ranked in relation to the other Premier League sides, with 1st being the best and 20th the worst. For example, Manchester City are marked as 1st for expected goals conceded (xGC) as this is the lowest figure in the whole of the division.

We have also calculated the 20 clubs’ average FPL fixture difficulties (where 2.00 is the easiest fixture and 5.00 is the toughest, according to the ratings given in the game itself) from Gameweeks 1-8 in order to give some context – and mitigation where needed – as to the rankings.

          Unless you have a rotation plan you might want to think about wether you want to keep .6-.7 locked in a player. That will either be sitting on your bench a fair but if the time or you'll be benching even more in a midfielders. Benching Docherty in his good fixtures seems a bad idea right now. Headache whichever way you look at it

              Would you be comfortable benching Docherty in his good fixtures (presumably every other game-ish). Right now he's on a hot streak. If you are then fine, but if you are not then it may be wise to invest in a cheaper defender who rotates well. If you already owned TAA then I'd say it was less of an issue because that would just be the pleasant headache you find yourself with, but if it's going to cost you a transfer to give yourself that headache then I wonder if freeing up money by releasing it from perreira for a cheaper rotation option could be more economical in the long run

    A) Shaw, Chilwell --> Robbo, Mendy

    A would give me TRAM in defence, but is that too much at the back?

      B, not too much imo, Doherty is cheap enough to bench if required, and all of TRAM should continue to get attacking points as well as clean sheets.

      Best time to use the WC is the first time you'd like to take a -8 or more.

          Yeah I think the time is now to bring in Salah or not at all. I'm in a bit of a dilemma at the moment. Think people got caught with Kane last week - bringing him in a week too late.

      Are you set on a premium keeper? I personally do not think they are worth the extra. Fab/Pat/Ryan are good keepers. If i remember correct, Fab was one of the highest scoring keepers last season, and Swansea were relegated.

      Depends if you plan to rotate Docherty in for his good fixtures. If you don't then TAA, if you think TAA might end up on the bench some weeks then a 4.5 with fixtures to release cash from Shaw could be viable depending what you use it for

      Tbh these “meet the manager” videos have been some of the best things that FFS have ever done. Well done to which ever one of the crew came up with it, I think it’s been a great addition to the site and Joe has been hosting the interviews very, very well and has made sure he has got a lot of great info/points/insights out of the managers.         I agree. And without being too harsh on David (it's tedious and unfair now) as he's been a rock solid addition imo after all. It counters the people moaning (me included) about his ranks and questioning his suitability. As these series counter that and go along very nicely with David's helfpul stats and brilliant effort he puts in on here. All bases covered by FFS, tbf. Top work all around lately. Mark can be proud.

          Yeah I think the Scoutcast has got better too and also David has settled in a lot more and is now starting to be a really valuable member of the team.

        I agree with this. I think it leaves you far too inflexible to jump on the next bandwagon.

        Also do you have poor team value?

        I have the same midfield setup but I have Maddison over Fraser. I also have Kane, Arnie and Mitro who are all significantly more than your forwards.

        You certainly have a better defence but I’m not sure that makes up for it enough. Maybe lose one of the ‘RAM’ to upgrade either Ings or Jiminez?

    Aguero? Can Vardy match his points. He has nice fixtures and has done well last three seasons compared to Kuns total scores over that time
