The Fantasy Football Scout community haven’t relented in their efforts despite us entering the dead zone that is the international break.

Early transfers were a source of discussion, along with premium strikers and Liverpool defenders.

Our latest Community Round-up feature also looks over the various tournaments and mini-leagues that involve FFS users.

The Hottest Topics

Brazilian pair Bernard and Kenedy were two of the names mentioned in Gregor‘s “eye test” as the Community began the week by looking back at Gameweek 8.

With those matches out of the way, we asked whether you were pushing the button early on your Fantasy transfers or waiting till the FPL assets in question were back from international duty.

Bullet Eder asked if we should go without a premium striker this season, while ZoumasBloomers switched focus to the defence and wondered if doubling up on the Liverpool backline is worth a gamble.

Taking stock has been in order over this international break, too.

Deulofail asked for your season by numbers, while WesManTooth and Jealous Viper wanted to hear your biggest delights and most lamentable regrets of 2018/19.

Pierce34 challenged the FFS community to beat his captain score for the season, meanwhile.

Community Tables

Here is just a small selection of the excellent array of public tables created this week and available in the Members’ area

Remember, to see your table featured here (if that’s what you want!) please ensure you include a description explaining the purpose of it.

Community Tournaments

Brayden McCullough still leads our public Fantasy Football Scout League but has slipped to second overall after three Gameweeks at number one.

Luke Aiello is the new leader in our Fantasy Football Scout Members League and has also regained the lead in RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league. He played his Wildcard in Gameweek 7 and is now up to 28th overall. He has had two previous top 10k finishes (6,621st in 2014/15 and 2,759th in 2016/17).

RedLightning still leads the FFS Mods & Cons mini-league, with Chris Atkinson (RMT’s Professor) now in second place.

FFS user Lawrø has created a new community tournament which he describes as “similar to Community Watch but shorter.” Find out more about it HERE.

We’d like to remind our readers that it is not too late to sign up to the Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup taking place on Saturday November 17. Find out more about it HERE.

Either player could easily score big, its a coin toss. I think at this stage it's safe to say that Salah won't repeat the highs he reached last season however when his form does pick up you'll want to have him.

                Mané won’t drop

I once played on a pitch with Mané, yay
Used to be up with Studge like everyday
The footy was the bomb, had a keeper very young
But Danny Ward was sold and they brought in Alisson.
The homies used to tell me that Mané was no good
But he the Manéac in black, Mr. Snoop Eastwood
So I figure his price wouldn't fall with mine

"[...] the one obvious way games have changed the world is by infecting every other user interface on the planet. From Sky Sports stats to social network "likes", the media landscape is now awash with the semiotics and reward systems invented by video games. [...] Twitter, like it or not, has changed the world, and within its complex machinery are the mechanics and compulsion loops of games."

              https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/dec/02/how-video-games-changed-the-world-some-thoughts

Can't find a link to the show, but I think the point is that Twitter is like Farmville but for your own life. Gotta keep going back and watering your seeds to keep moving up the leaderboard. Actually I think I made that up, but it sounds great. Likes and retweets are additive etc etc

Besides this, I recently spoke to a young professional who said that if she weren't on Twitter, following her fellow professionals and industry idols, she would fall behind. In order to be up to date and impressive as a human in her field, she can't miss any news or big opinion pieces etc.

A bit like on here: you're in the best position come Friday night if you've spent a bit of time absorbing information through the week, rather than hurriedly trying to garner knowledge to make the right calls when it counts.

              1. MTPockets
                8 years, 5 days ago

Interesting perspective - a virus or addiction. I grew up with video games (late 30s) yet the extent of the trend baffles me. The line "Here, he is the king, the master, and he takes great pleasure in explaining it all to others" seems meaningful if applicable beyond autistic children. Attention, popularity and validation aren't big drivers for me though.

To be clear I value the ideas of relatively interesting people on social media sometimes. But also try to challenge my thinking with media and ideas I don't (yet?) understand or agree with. Obviously relevance is personal, but I actively avoid accounts that appear as self-validation tools or as monetary marketing exercise. I don't particularly respect anyone I don't know well, so 'following' doesn’t appeal. The idea of an 'influencer' is nauseating.

"you're in the best position come Friday..." Guilty but am I? May have wasted time absorbing rumours, self-interest and contrary information when could instead read or watch a factual summary and draw my own interpretive conclusions.

Think I've been concluding that either everybody increasingly assumes their ideas are worth money or have original thoughts to share, or we're subjecting each other to more marketing and advertising so we can all monetise a little marketing and advertising. But if your premise is correct it could be just an instant/constant vs delayed gratification thing. Cheers for the thoughts.

    on WC..

    Patricio, Fabianski
Mendy, Robertson, Alonso, Doherty, Wan Bissaka
    Hazard, Mane, Richarlison, Fraser, 4.3
    Aguero, Lacazette, Wilson

Is this too template, or is the defence a bit much?
I could downgrade defence to get a better 4.3 mid spare.
I could do Robertson -> TAA to upgrade Wilson to Mitro or Arnautovic

    Any ideas?

    1. Flaming Flamingo
      8 years, 6 days ago

Looks good. Ideally you'd want a playing 5th mid for extra peace of mind (hopefully Stephens drops), but if you are happy with the other 14 I don't think it's worth downgrading someone for the sake of an better bench fodder.

Thanks. I've had stephens all season so far and happy enough making changes to the big players as an when they get injured.

There's 3 guys at 4.3.. I'd probably rather those than stephens in order to avoid any price drops, but I guess it doesn't matter.

    2. Overated Mou
      8 years, 6 days ago

I would downgrade laca and upgrade 4.3 to maddy
Laca hasnt convinced me so far

      1. SalahFingers
        8 years, 6 days ago

The problem then is that I have to bench either Maddy, Fraser, or the other striker I buy each week.

        My thinking was either...
        Aguero+Laca+cheap (Mane in mid)
        or
        Aguero+2 cheaps (Salah in mid)

Lacazette has been doing well enough pointswise that I'd consider him a captain choice, and that, I like the idea of.

        1. Overated Mou
          8 years, 6 days ago

In that case i would choose the first option with cheap playing mid
I think salah is overprice atm

Only Patricio and Doherty better value in the entire game - he is cheap for his points 🙂

Assuming he carries on getting them Hotdogs. He appears to be playing much more as a conventional fullback on the last couple, admittedly including a game vs Liverpool. If he just gets CS’s there are cheaper options. I am monitoring closely with my finger on the trigger now he’s 7.0.

He tends to be let lose a bit more against the weaker teams and asked to defend if the opposition have decent attack potential - can’t ask for much more than that from him imv.

The only heat map that sees him sitting deeper is really for the Liverpool game 🙂

For casuals who don't look at the fixtures it actually does. I got him at 6.0 so seeing him rising is actually not a good thing, yet not significant, since I plan to ditch him after next gw. Now also those who got him at 6.1 will get .1 increase in sv.

Need news about Salah. I will be without internet/electrisity for 1 week and will miss the deadline, so have to decide what to do on Saturday.
Should I do Salah and Cook to Hazard and Robertson for free?

    1. Klein
      8 years, 6 days ago

Tbh i think he will miss gw9 and play others. He does have something on hamstring and its too risky to play vs a weak hud side. I would do those transfers if your are sure to be without internet access.

Apparently it is a minor injury. Hiwever, I'd still do the fransfer if I were you. Hazard a good pick anyway.

2FT's so need to make a trade, thinking of a straight swap between Trippier and Mendy as I have 0.0ITB. Thoughts?

    Fab
    Alonso | Robertson | Trippier | Doherty
    Salah | Hazard | Mane | Fraser
    Aguero | Wilson

    Stek | AWB | Hojbjerg | Kamara

Where does it say you have to make a transfer?

If you need to mitigate risk, make sure you have full 90 minutes coverage on your bench rather than making sideways movements in defence....

    Any input?

    A. 3-4-3 with both Maddison and Richarlison.
    B. 4-3-3 with only One of Maddy and Rich. And put Alonso in defence.

    Ryan (Steele,Button)
    Trippier,TAA,Mendy, ( Doherty/Duffy,Bennett)
    Hazard,Mane,Richarlison,Maddison. (Højbjerg)
    Aguero,Mitrovic,Vardy.

      A

Doherty is a great back up for TAA, arguably a starter himself

Thanks. Im finding it hard to pick out one of Maddison and Richarlison.

          8 years, 6 days ago

Yup hard to pick one from them. So i ignored both. Siggy it is

    3. EMERGING STAR
      8 years, 6 days ago

I think Fabiasnki is the better pick since you have Duffy and Bennet (avoiding double up).

If you are keen on 433 with alonso then Maddy can go keeping Vardy

    4. korbendallas82
      8 years, 6 days ago

Thanks. Vardy to Arnautovic also an option, as i was looking for alternatives.

      B.

Both good options this week. Vardy against leaky arsenal n raul against depleted watford. Any other candidates?

      B if you must

I am on wc so still twitching a bit. Another potential candidate is doherty but he likes to sting. Others are mostly premium except mitro
