A week has passed since Harry Kane‘s (£12.5m) blank in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Cardiff City and the one-point return still rankles for those of us who backed the England striker with the captaincy in Gameweek 8.

Having been bought by over 380,000 Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of the Cardiff match, Kane now sits in around 31% of FPL squads at the time of writing and many Fantasy bosses will be wondering what to do with their premium forward in the weeks ahead – particularly given the fixtures Spurs have in the short term.

Our Scout Notes touched on Kane’s frustrating tendency to drop deep in the win over the Bluebirds and this positional analysis is something we have decided to explore in more depth for this latest members’ article.

Kane has 7 goals against West ham including a brace in the last away game.. tempted to keep?

yeah why not, west ham doesn't exactly look solid at the back

For me it depends on Salah. If he's not likely to play (or reduced minutes), I'll keep Kane for the WH fixture. Might take a hit to upgrade with the spare Salah money too.

keeping for WH then likely dumping in a 2ft move for the best Pool option.

Tempted yes. But also tempted to get in Mitrovic for Cardiff (he will become Arnie later) and Mendy for AWB for -4 now.

The problem here is that I won't keep Kane longer anyway and need to bring also TAA or another Pool player in next week. And I cannot afford Trippier to Mendy atm. Downgrading Fraser is one option, but not happy with that either since I ditched Wilson for Kane and Kept Kun 🙁

Morning all! Considering a wild card for this next GW, current squad is:

    Foster Fabianski
    Wan-Bissaka Maguire VanAanholt Robertson Tarkowski
    Hazard Richarlison Neves DSilva Guendouzi
    Aguero, Lacazette, Vardy

I'm thinking I need changes to GK, DEF & midfield but happy with the front three.

    Suggestions please?

Losing Palace defenders and replacing Neves and Guendouzi are most urgent as I see it.

I'm enjoying these MTM podcasts very much, but I would like to see a bit more of a mix-up of managers with regards to success. The thing i'm finding is that by its very nature, being a consistently good manager means being fairly consistent in your approach. I would like to see more gamblers and people with fresher, radical ideas. Not a problem for me when people get things horribly wrong, I appreciate when they go of piste if they have put some thought into their ideas

Mark has been making some pretty radical moves the last couple of years (he may have always been that way, but I wouldn't know).

He predicted the early success of the 6-7m strikers very well but unfortunately didn't pick the right ones in the first couple of weeks (Zaha, King, Arnie) and compounded this by missing out on the huge hauls from Mendy, Robbo, Fraser etc. Unfortunately I think he scrapped the whole idea with his WC instead of standing by his guns and just getting in the couple of players he was missing

Anyone think Salah injury is staged? Suspect Anfield didn't want him to play at all (invent an injury) against such a low ranked team but that would play badly in Egypt. Egypt satisfied he represented the country and Anfield get their asset back before further risk in next match. Maybe I've gone too Jerry Fletcher...? Geronimo!

With 2 free transfers,1.4 m in bank and WC to play I was going to do BSilva to Salah and Kane to Arnie. But wondering if should keep Kane for further week. Could just do Tomkins to TAA this week. What move/s would you make

A Tomkins to TAA and carry free
B Kane to Arnie and BSilva to Salah ( if Klopp does not rule out)
C Any better use of transfers?

    Patricio Foster
    Alonso Doherty Trippier Tomkins AWB

I'm not really familiar with this xG data, is ings negative numbers indicating he can perform better numbers than he is? Or that he's not a very good option?

    1. Fantasy Gold
      • 12 Years
      7 years, 10 months ago

The data suggests Ings should have scored more than he currently has.

    2. MTPockets
      7 years, 10 months ago

A negative delta means underachieving vs expected goals. But that could be interpreted however you want really - improvement imminent/been unlucky vs. below average ability.

      1. Sharkytect
        • 12 Years

Couldn't it also reflect in annacuracy of original estimate?

        1. MTPockets
          7 years, 10 months ago

You mean original xG estimate? Guess so, but an error could apply to any or everyone. Think there are slightly differing xG approaches but assume the stats here all use the same methodology, so inaccuracies would be consistent unless just a mistake.

    3. Sgt Frank Drebin
      • 9 Years

xG can be very tricky. It can indicate a bad form or that he has been unlucky. In my opinion he's a very good option though and should come good.

ok, caught up with the Salah news. injury doesn't seem to bad, but it's going to be enough to keep him out the Huddersfield, can't see them risking him for that when they have Red Star midweek. So possibly a return against Cardiff is on the cards. Not sure what to do now with my transfer. Double up on the Liverpool defence, bring Mane in or save and bring salah in next week.

Everton is the only game I could see them winning, but it’s not a sure thing. Everton are waaaay better than Newcastle & we know how that went!

Sandwiches in between the Juve games tilts it in Everton’s favour of scraping a draw I reckon

They will scrape the equivalent of about 8 points. It won't be pretty but they will do enough. If you really fancy betting on it then start off with the stake you want to put on and keep betting the other team in the win or draw market rolling over the winnings each time. That will be the best odds you can get.

United will beat Everton and Bournemouth and probably get at least a draw out of Chelsea/Man City.

I would do it, but I would consider dropping Ederson to a 4.5 in the coming weeks, someone like Fab/Ryan/Pat. Premuim keeper not worth the extra imo when money can be spent elsewhere.

    Mitro - Aguero - Laca

      Looks great. A couple of 50/50s can go against you, salah/mane, Sterling-Kun, TAA-Rob, Bennet-Doherty.

But all in all XI looks mint. Bench does not.

That was my initial thoughts as well. This just seems like such a PVA fixture for him to go doubledigits. These are the type of fixtures that makes PVA worth his price.

        Thoughts on the reply above?

I know Leicester v Arsenal usually comes with the promise of goals, but Maddisons likelyhood of getting returns should be slightly redused compared to other fixtures?

Just feels like PVA's CS/AR doublethreat holds higher promise of getting returns?

Those who brought Kane in for last weeks disaster with Salah...

If you didn't make your move yet, and if Salah is a doubt, would you be tempted to keep Kane and bring in Sterling for Salah?

Or happy to get Aguero in for Kane after his disaster?

    1. WesMantooth
      • 15 Years
      7 years, 10 months ago

I'd prob C Kane and play Salah, then make moves from a stronger (2ft) and more informed position next week. There was too much fuss about Kane last week, an this week the reversed fuss is also somewhat baffling. Odds will be in favour of Kane getting pts this weekend.

      1. Clintymints
        • 17 Years
        7 years, 10 months ago

Yeah I see goals for both teams in that Kane fixture but still not sure what to make of it. 2 weeks rest for Aguero is appealing but but not sure if I need to take a hit yet with the current Salah situation.

My initial plan was to keep 2ft for this week for the internationals, but was ruined when I gambled on Kane last week, so I'm taking a slightly more cautious route this gw

I only have Henessey in goals, so I need him out after next week. 2ft would be wise to keep so that's my predicament. Took the risk last week, should probably play safe this week. Murphy's law will kick in no doubt

Word has it that Aguero’s week rest is going very well and is looking forward to even more rest.
He will be back fitter than ever, play more than 60 mins and no doubt will score 4 goals at home to Burnley next game!!!

That would be cool. Armband with him all the way since end of last GW.
