Each week we will be reviewing the aggregated predictions on Superbru’s Premier League Predictor game, using the collective Wisdom of the Crowd predictions to guide our fantasy football thinking.

Please join the FFS league here and add your own predictions to the data – the more there are, the more accurate the crowd should be (in theory).  And don’t forget there is £50,000 in prize money on offer every week.

THE CONCEPT

We must all make predictions about how each match will go when deciding on our fantasy team selection, predicting where the goals will be scored, which teams are most likely to keep a clean sheet and so on.  If we aggregate the predictions of thousands of football fans playing the Premier League Predictor game on Superbru, any bias should be ironed out, and the collective knowledge will produce more accurate predictions that we can make on our own.

We tested this last season by taking the average community predictions, and entering them into the game as a user called Mr Crowd Wisdom.  That user finished in 20th place out of 481 people in the Fantasy Football Scout league – a highly knowledgeable group – and also beat 98% of other people on the global leaderboard.

We’ll follow the average picks again this season and hopefully it will provide another reference point for your fantasy team selections.

GAMEWEEK 9 REVIEW

There were green arrows again for our Crowd Wisdom user on Superbru, back into the top third on Superbru, thanks to picking the draw between Liverpool and Man City, and continuing to beat the majority of people on Superbru.

GAMEWEEK 10 PREVIEW

Here is the Expected Goals chart for each fixture in GW10:

And here is the ranking of teams in order of Expected Goals Scored and Conceded:

Liverpool is the team to back this weekend.  Top of the predicted goals and with a clean sheet expected, there should be fantasy points at both ends of the pitch – Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be heavily backed, and for good reason according to these stats.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also predicted to do well against Crystal Palace and Burnley respectively, whilst the crowd is expecting Man City to win at Tottenham.

In defence, Watford look worth backing at home to Huddersfield, whilst Southampton, Bournemouth and Leicester are the other budget picks.

Here are the aggregated predictions that we’ll enter for Mr Crowd Wisdom this week.

8 teams are predicted to concede 5.62 goals between them, which suggests 2-3 clean sheets.
The predictions make Liverpool odds on to get a clean sheet, since they are the only team below 0.50.
They also give Watford an even chance of a clean sheet.
The other 6 are predicted to concede 4.84 goals between them, which means that they should get at least one more clean sheet between them too, but do not say who gets them.

    All set here?

    Alisson
    Mendy, Alonso, TAA, Doherty
    Hazard, Salah(c) , Maddison, Fraser
    Aguero, Mitrovic

    Bench: Stekelenburg, Richarlison, Success, WB

Doing TAA to Robbo and Fraser to fodder next week.

Whats with the Murphy hype? I know that Adam Hopcroft talked about getting him. He also scored 2 goals in last 3 games but what else? Is he OOP? Is he 100% nailed? Are his underlying stats better than Kenedys, or anyone else in his price bracket?
