Mohamed Salah has become the Fantasy Premier League flavour of the month once again ahead of Liverpool’s Gameweek 10 meeting with Cardiff.

The Egyptian is currently the favourite for the latest captaincy debate and has a strong case for the armband.

With Manchester City tied up in an away trip to Spurs the most viable alternative this week looks like Eden Hazard, if he can shake off a back injury.

We’ve had a look at all the different angles to pick out the best candidate.

Captain Poll

Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) is the current leader of our captain poll by a considerable distance. The Egyptian is preparing to welcome Cardiff city to Anfield in Gameweek 10 on the back of a seeming return to form.

At the time of writing, just under 48% of our voters backed Salah and will have been pleased to see him scoring three goals in the space of a week as his strikes helped dispatch Huddersfield and Red Star Belgrade. The Liverpool man has also confirmed his position in the penalty pecking order too.

Despite issues with his back in the last few days, Eden Hazard (£11.4m) has a strong hold on second position in our poll. Chelsea are preparing to face a Burnley outfit that has given up more shots than any other Premier League side this season.

Hazard is still a long way off the leader though, his 18% backing under half of Salah’s.

For the first time since Manchester City’s Gameweek 8 trip to Anfield, Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) has not troubled the top of the pile. That may be to do with the fact that a trip to Spurs is considered a tricky fixture, at least on paper. In fact, as things stand, more of our voters are interested in Sadio Mané (£9.7m).

The Senegalese international, fresh from a starring performance against Belgrade, has 7% of the votes while Aguero has just a 3.5% share.

Interestingly, Andrew Robertson (£6.4m) could easily overtake the illustrious Man City forward before the Gameweek 10 deadline with his backing currently at 3.3%. The Scottish full-back looks likely to record a clean sheet at least against Cardiff and there will be the usual hope for attacking returns too.

The combination of a surprise Gameweek 9 benching and a theoretical tough fixture against Spurs has pushed Raheem Sterling (£11.2m) a considerable distance down the list this week, chosen by just 0.59% of voters. Thus far, 15 options have been considered superior captain picks including Bournemouth trio Callum Wilson (2%), Josh King (0.71%) and Ryan Fraser (0.77%) as well as Aleksandar Mitrovic (1.48%) and Raúl Jiménez (1.33%).

Arsenal’s goal-getters remain among the differential captaincy candidates as they travel to Crystal Palace. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m) has gone back above Alexandre Lacazette (£9.7m) after his Gameweek 9 brace. The two forwards currently have 2.03% and 1.79% backing respectively. Mesut Ozil (£8.4m) is another option considered more popular than Sterling this week with a 0.83% share.

    What combo looks better:
    A) Salah+Mane+Wilson
    B) Salah+Firmino+Richarlison
    C) Firmino+Mane+KDB

PS: Have no ManC assets atm. Option A alows Mane->KDB next week.

Any Wolves fans here/people knowledganle of Wolves?

Has H.Costa's performances been good enough to stave of Cavaliero's challenge for his spot? Is Nuno likely to switch things up after last week's defeat?

Does not look possible. You could downgrade Rich to Kenedy, but I would not do that.

Think TAA will play this weekend, so I would not do it for a -4. The holy trinity will be hard to get if you are to have Salah, Haz and Kun

What do you all think of Lucas Digne?

Not for this week but his next two homes games are Brighton and Cardiff and are second for shots conceded in the box (behind Man City) for the last 4 GWs. Rotates well with a cheapie defender from Brighton or West Ham (take west ham, they play hudds and newcastle when Everton play Chels and Liv)

He has dropped to 4.8 and has some set piece responsibility. He is not being mentioned too much on here, is he being over looked or still better options and punts available?

granted, could it be like Wolves at the beginning of the season. Conceded goals while posting decent defensive stats then the clean sheets came.

    2. SADIO SANÉ
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

yeah I'm looking at him, he's one of the few cheaper defenders that are still making me hesitant about going big at the back - thinking something like TAA, Pereira, Holebas, Digne, Doherty, all either on set-pieces or playing further forward, main issue is nailedness with some of them - but yeah, Digne looks pretty good for those blue fixtures.

A good option. It may have gone under the radar but they've kept clean sheets in their last 2 home games in the league. Defensive stats are strong, and those home matches coming up are superb. Not ideal but it shouldn't be a problem benching a 4.8 defender every now and again. I say go for it

not a bad choice, good home record and if you don't have salah thats the next best pick

Really not sure what to do.

    Foster
    Alonso Doherty Robbo
    Salah (c) Hazard Richarlison Maddison
    Aguero Mitrovic Wilson

    Patricio Bennett Ward AWB
    1.8ITB and 2FT

Was going to do Ward to Murphy but if Doherty goes up I have just enough money to swap Doherty & Mitro to Mendy & Arnie next week.

Only way to get Salah without a hit is to get rid of either Auba or Aguero.

Will have 7.7 ITB to do something with.

    Would you?

Nope ...I would lose one of your mid priced mids like Madison or Richarlison for The Shaq.....Will become an assist machine for the front 3

100% I brought him in for Rich... He'll start Cardiff and potentially sit out during Arsenal but be back for Fulham at home!

Yes I think with Milner and Keita both doubts and to let the front three run wild.....I think he has more chance of a return than Rich, Fraser, Walcott and others

I have a similar dilemma, to get Salah I need either sell Lacazette, Aguero, or Hazard. It's a tricky one but I am tempted as I really want Salah back in

    Mavercik poll here:

    A: Richa to Shaqiri

    B: Kane to Firmino

I dont have Mane or Salah, cant get them without a -4

Wouldn't risk Shaq, good chance Klopp goes back to 4-3-3 for the PL.
B could work...but it also could backfire, if it's for free I'd probably do it.

      They are both total punts.

I’m doing B myself. Shaqiri could be great if he gets a run of games but we aren’t sure on that yet so he’s more of a wait and see IMO.
