Captains

Vote in the Captain Poll for Gameweek 11

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) and Eden Hazard (£11.3m) are likely to be the pair vying for domination of the Gameweek 11 captaincy.

Both players have home fixtures against favourable opposition this weekend and have been much more impressive in front of their own fans this season.

Aguero has delivered attacking returns in every match at the Etihad Stadium in 2018/19, averaging a total of 9.4 points per game.

Meanwhile, Southampton will arrive having conceded 1.4 goals per away match this season. Only three teams have allowed more penalty box shots since Gameweek 7 too.

Benjamin Mendy (£6.3m) may even get a look-in this week given that he has six assists already this term and Southampton are without a league goal in five matches.

With Riyad Mahrez (£8.6) having recorded three double-figure hauls in the last five Gameweeks, he may be starting to emerge as a differential option although there are plenty of potentially viable options in the Man City midfield.

As Liverpool travel to in-form Arsenal, interest in Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) and Sadio Mané (£9.7m) may be restricted.

Instead, Hazard looks like the most likely to compete with Aguero if he can regain full fitness.

The Chelsea man has registered either a goal or an assist in all but one of his home matches this season, for an average of 9.2 points per game at Stamford Bridge. The only one he blanked in was the Gameweek 9 visit of Manchester United.

Next opponents Crystal Palace are without a clean sheet since Gameweek 6 and have conceded seven times in four matches since then (1.75 per game).

Given Brighton’s form away from home, some managers may consider either Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) or Richarlison (£6.8m) as alternative captain candidates in Gameweek 11.

West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) may also be viewed by some as a differential as he prepares to face Burnley. No side has allowed more shots than the Clarets this season.

Fulham and their hapless defence are unlikely to influence the captaincy discussion as they travel to face Huddersfield Town, the Premier League’s lowest scorers.

save IMO. maguire has plum fixtures for now.

wilson to arnie could be good, but wilson has hit form and has 2 ok fixtures for an attacking player, so i wouldn't yet.

      get salah in next week.

    Currently sitting on 2FT's and 0.0ITB. My squad is as follows;

    Ederson, Hamer
    Alonso, Robertson, Doherty, Zabaleta, AWB
    Salah, Hazard, Richarlson, Fraser, Billing
    Aguero, Arnautovic, Mitrovic

I honestly cant think of a transfer to do this week apart from downgrading Billing to Stephens to save 0.1/0.2m.

    Thoughts or suggestions?

Nice team. If Stephens drops I would consider it. Possibly upgrade Zab to Balbuena too.

If not, I'd do nothing. I'd even be tempted to play Billing as first sub against Fulham and hope someone doesn't started.

I'd keep Billing (good fixtures ahead) but not much else you could do with this. Richarlison to someone else (but who)?

I don’t think I’ve ever done well from TC in a double gameweek.

Ends up being late in the season and your captain doesn’t play both 90 mins in both fixtures.

Some of the best TC use I saw last season were single gameweek picks. In fact, the best pick was the blank gameweek when people TC Salah in his single gameweek.

agree on the double GW front. I played the odds and got a shite 7 points from Augero tho.

Yep, I TC Kane and got 1 start, one benching, total of 6 points.

That Fulham defence is one of the worst around. If Salah can get 15 points v Cardiff at home, imagine what he can do v Fulham.

Not to sound too combative, but the fact that you've never done well in a DGW with TC doesn't mean it's not the best option statistically. Every single season - apart from last - you've had players scoring well in the 20s in DGWs.

16-17: Sanchez and Kane get 27 and 28 respectively.
15-16: Aguero and Sanchez get 26 and 25 respectively.

And of course a player doesn't even need to do anything spectacular to get 20+ in a DGW - a goal in one game, and a goal and assist in the other will do. That is way, way more likely than a hat-trick and an assist, or 4 goals in a SGW to achieve the same score.

That doesn't mean a SGW can't work of course - but most of the time a DGW will be better. And that's what making FPL decisions is about.

            Agreed.

Statistically DGW makes sense and IMO is unquestionable the only logical decision, regardless of what you've experienced in the past.

            Good points.

Im sure if I picked someone like Sánchez or Kane when they got 26 and 27 points then I may have a different opinion.

But I didn’t, so I’m open to something different with that chip this year.

Again, the fact that you've had bad luck with TC DGW picks doesn't make them less likely to succeed this year.

You just have to ask yourself what is more probable - Salah scoring 3-4 goals vs. Fulham, or Salah/Aguero/Kane/Hazard scoring 2 goals and an assist over 2 matches?

Best of luck if you go for it - just trying to illustrate how much of a gamble it is. I can understand if you feel more likely to go for such a gamble given the past failure and the lure of Fulham's defence.

To clarify even more - what I'm saying is not that the punt will fail, but that the most probable outcome is something a bit underwhelming, i.e. something in the 7-13 point region.

I still feel like saving TC for a double gw.
Even if it was a failure last season with Sterling (3x3pts), the potential of a 2 game haul is exciting.

It just feels so bad when you save it all season for it to be useless.

I can’t seee Liverpool not scoring 4+ goals at home to Fulham.

They can't do much worse than 1 CS.

Are they really the go to defence?

If anything Noble out might actually help their CS chances. The guy's a brilliant player, but he's too slow for th pace of the game now. He's one fantastic game was vs MUN a few weeks ago, has been a laibility in a lot of other games.

possibly, it´s borderline overthinking but nonetheless could be a decisive factor. Not sure how they set up then, could be something like a 4-1-4-1, with Rice being the shield and Arnie up top. That leaves them a little unbalanced but they will also add good ballplaying players that will surely keep Burnley at bay just by keeping the ball within the team? Burnley does not look good atm, so i say fair chance no matter how they set up they will prob manage to keep Burnley goalless due to Burnleys lack of quality

    Hi Guys,

No Mendy or Ederson is bothering me. 2 FT's 0.1 ITB

    Patricio,
    Robbo, TAA, Alonso (Bennet, AWB)
    Salah, Hazard, Maddison, Richarlison
    Mitrovic, Wilson, Aguero

Pat & TAA > Ederson & 3.9 leaves me 0.1 to do Mitro> Arnie when he's fit again / next week?

Or I could just do Pat > Foster?

    Thanks

What you think of this WC? No strikers I really want but so many mids. Perhaps Kun but unsure

    Fab (Ryan)
Alonso • Mendy • Robbo (Doherty • AWB)
    Haz • Sterling • Mané • Martial/Siggy • Pereyra
    Arnautovic • Murray (Success)

I like your team. Just think Salah is a good option to have if on WC with Fulham coming up.

              My line-up below.

              Henn/Hamer
              RAM, Doherty, Bennett
              Hazard, Salah, Richarlison, Maddison, Hughes
              Arnie, Auba, Kamara

1m in the bank. Ditched Kun last week and will possibly ditch Auba for Firmino or Mitro on Saturday.

I don’t really agree with our teams looking similar to be honest. It’s clearly obvious the Salah>Mane move gets me upgrades all over from your team. But it is a tough call on no Salah I agree

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Alonso, Mendy, Robertson (Wan-Bissaka, Bennett)
    Hazard, Salah, Maddison, Fraser (Hojbjerg)
    Aguero, Mitrovic, Arnautovic

    2FT, 0.1ITB

Unsure where I can improve, tempted to stick.

Mitrovic and Arnautovic starting to worry me, get rid of one to bring in a midfielder possibly?
