Scoutcast Extra – Big Numbers (Gameweeks 1-12)

The latest international break gives us the opportunity to take stock of the key underlying statistics being posted by teams and players over the first 12 Gameweeks of the season.

In this extra to our usual Scoutcast format, David and Joe sift through a raft of statistics to uncover who have been the most attacking players in terms of both goal threat and creativity.

They also find out who has been over and under performing and delve deep into the team statistics.  Most threatening sides, best defences and those vying for whipping boy status are among issues looked at.

Meanwhile, our Scoutcast duo also find out which defenders are set to produce points at both ends of the pitch and they name the best bonus magnets to consider.

Key talisman, who are integral to their side’s chances of scoring, are also put under the microscope.

Joe and David also reveal how this autumnal stat-attack has affected their future transfer plans.

Anyone considering free hit this GW? Some good fixtures and could well be short of players due to injuries

Best move here? Planning to WC for GW16:

    A) Kamara -> Jimenez
    B) Mendy -> Robbo (bench Kamara)

    Ederson
    Alonso, TAA, Doherty
    Salah, Hazard, Richarlison, Brooks
    Aguero, Arnie, Kamara

    Stek, Mendy, Balbuena, Hudson
    Bank 1.6m, 1FT

Not ideal but I have a 0.1m buffet to deal with Robbo’s rise before doing B next week, ie:

        GW13: Kamara -> Jimenez
        GW14: Mendy -> Robbo

You think Mendy falls this GW?

Laporte quite rightly seems popular if you don’t own Ederson or city defender. But I think Digne’s fixtures look great next few.. set pieces and extra funds £ too

Not serious. Just bored. Languishing around the 5m mark if that strokes your ego. I like to read everyone's questions. Why can't others? So many answers in them especially given the question is the same.

Not sure if any of the budget options really standout except Wolves who most already own.

Everton look decent but they still have 3 very tough fixtures in the next 6.

Is a nailed Sane as explosive as Sterling?

    1. Gegenpress
      • 7 Years

I'm looking at Sane - he played 90 in the 3 matches Mendy was out earlier this season.

    2. Karan14
      • 8 Years
      5 years, 5 months ago

No he plays too wide for my liking.

I don’t thing Mendy injury really impacts Sane. Sane will be rotated with Mahrez/Sterling whatever happens.

      1. Gegenpress
        • 7 Years
        5 years, 5 months ago

Really? The only evidence we have so far is that the only 3 games Mendy didn't play in the league, Sane started and played 90 in each and every one of them.

City don't have another natural Left footer on their Left wing, Mendy gave them the width that allows the likes of sterling to cut in from that side.. Without Mendy Sane is the only winger who can give them that width, I think he starts for all the games Mendy doesn't.

        1. Karan14
          • 8 Years
          5 years, 5 months ago

Yup but there were a couple of game where Mendy & Sane started together and it was pretty recent.

There were also many game when Sane got randomly benched for Mahrez & Sterling.

If Sane is not starting midweek games then yes he’s probably nailed for PL. But no way he’s going to start all the games.
D.Silva for me if looking for a City mid way more assured of starts than Sane.

          1. Gegenpress
            • 7 Years
            5 years, 5 months ago

Yes they looked decent together, fully agree. But the only 3 games Mendy didn't play Sane started and played 90 - Pep had also spoken about this and Sane being the only out and out left footed winger a while back.

Mahrez seems to be preferred over Sane in the bigger games and yes Sane has been dropped for those.

Yeh D. Silva and B. Silva are looking very assured - I just think Sane will match both of them and sterling / Mahrez for starts whilst Mendy is out.

Nah but he may score 2 double figure hauls, whilst sterling scores a 21 and benched the next game..

Sterling is both more nailed and more explosive than Sane.

            • 7 Years
            5 years, 5 months ago

In a team with Mendy, I agree Sterling is 100% more nailed.

I also agree that he's more explosive.

What I think though is that in a team without Mendy (current situation) Sane will be more nailed.

            1. Flaming Flamingo
              • 7 Years
              5 years, 5 months ago

It should increase his minutes, but Sterling is still more nailed. In the 5 games played this season without Mendy (excluding Carabao Cup), Sterling played all of them and Sane started 4. That's pretty similar to what happened last year where Sterling would start near enough every game and Sane would be rotated occasionally. Interesting side note, of the 5 games played without Mendy, Mahrez started 0.

Sterling seems to be peps favourite hands down.. I would prefer him but can't afford him and would just about be able to afford Sane (If I decide to downgrade Salah to Mane).. Would allow me Sane Mane Hazard Kane along with Arny and Anderson in a nice 442.

Sane was first name in my pre season picks but sold him Before GW2 as he was on Peps naughty step. Expect rotation

Defo big points in him but still a rotation risk. Expect 6-15 when he plays 90 and 1-6 points when he steps off bench & have a good bench auto sub if he doesn’t play.

      No.
I brought in Sane on my GW12 wildcard last season over Sterling and it was one of the biggest mistakes of the season.
Sterling outscored him by about 25 points between then and when I eventually buckled & got him in GW19.
Nowhere near as much goal threat. Don’t fall into the same trap I did.

Nope, as a Toffees fan I’ve been subject to it more than most. It’s just ironic the magnitude in the change of tune

Mendy to Robertson for free? Have exactly the amount to bring Robbo. If Mendy drops or Robbo increases, I can't do this transfer.
    .
Should I do the transfer now or wait till the international break and find other options if they increase or decrease in price?

Keane not more of an attacking threat?

No. Digne is on set pieces.
