Six Premier League matches take place this evening before the Gameweek 21 showpiece of Manchester City v Liverpool brings the frenetic festive fixture schedule to a close ahead of FA Cup third round weekend.

Four of tonight’s games kick off at 19:45 GMT, with Bournemouth v Watford (due to a delay) and Newcastle United v Manchester United getting underway at 20:00 GMT.

There aren’t too many surprises in the team selections this evening, with many of the more widely-owned Fantasy Premier League assets getting a start.

Marcus Rashford has recovered from a groin problem to keep his place in Manchester United’s starting XI, with Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial also unsurprisingly named in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez make the bench.

Fabian Schar replaces the injured Federico Fernandez in Rafael Benitez’s only alteration, while Florian Lejeune makes the matchday squad for the first time in 2018/19.

Eden Hazard is again deployed on the left flank as Alvaro Morata replaces the injured Olivier Giroud, but Chelsea are otherwise unchanged from the side that beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in Gameweek 20.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has really shuffled his pack for this encounter at Stamford Bridge, making eight changes – including the recall of Danny Ings – following the 3-1 defeat against Manchester City.

In the delayed kick-off on the south coast, Ryan Fraser returns to the Bournemouth starting XI after his benching at Old Trafford.

Javi Gracia has made five changes to his team, with Jose Holebas, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Troy Deeney among the players handed a recall.

Andy Carroll makes his first Premier League start in over a year for West Ham, who have new signing Samir Nasri among their substitutes.

Glenn Murray replaces Florin Andone up front in Chris Hughton’s only change.

Joao Moutinho and Helder Costa return to the Wolves starting XI, while Jordan Ayew gets his first start since Gameweek 17 as Roy Hodgson switches to a 4-3-3.

David Wagner has made two changes to his team and seemingly reverted to a 4-2-3-1, while Sean Dyche trusts the same 11 players who beat West Ham three days ago.

Bournemouth XI (3-5-2): Begovic, Cook, Ake, Daniels, Brooks, Lerma, Gosling, Fraser, Stanislas, Wilson, King.

Watford XI (4-4-2): Foster, Femenia, Cathcart, Mariappa, Holebas, Sema, Capoue, Doucoure, Pereyra, Deulofeu, Deeney.

Chelsea XI (4-3-3): Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso, Jorginho, Kante, Barkley, Hazard, Willian, Morata.

Southampton XI (3-4-3): Gunn, Yoshida, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Valery, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Cedric, Armstrong, Ings, Redmond.

Huddersfield Town XI (4-2-3-1): Lossl, Kongolo, Schindler, Zanka, Hadergjonaj, Hogg, Billing, Mbenza, Pritchard, Kachunga, Mounie.

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Heaton, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Cork, Westwood, Gudmundsson, McNeil, Barnes, Wood.

West Ham United XI (4-4-2): Fabianski, Zabaleta, Ogbonna, Diop, Cresswell, Rice, Obiang, Snodgrass, Anderson, Arnautovic, Carroll.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI (4-3-3): Button, Montoya, Dunk, Duffy, Bernardo, Stephens, Propper, Gross, March, Murray, Locadia.

Wolverhampton Wanderers XI (3-4-3): Patricio, Bennett, Boly, Coady, Doherty, Saiss, Moutinho, Jonny, Costa, Cavaleiro, Jimenez.

Crystal Palace XI (4-3-3): Guaita, Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, van Aanholt, McArthur, Milivojević, Kouyaté, Townsend, Ayew, Zaha.

Newcastle United XI (3-4-2-1): Dubravka, Yedlin, Schär, Lascelles, Dummett, Ritchie, Hayden, Diame, Atsu, Pérez, Rondón.

Manchester United XI (4-3-3): De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Lindelöf, Shaw, Matic, Herrera, Pogba, Mata, Martial, Rashford.

Abysmal defending for his first. Antonio did superbly to put the 2nd on a plate for him.

hmm, lots of players in the 2 options! I agree that arnie is a great differential to bring in. I actually like the digne pick. I've owned alonso since like gw 4 I believe and planning to offload after newcastle

Yes, not that against Digne in for Alonso and was considering the same after Newcastle too. These options are if I use WC to get Salah in as his regular double figures are killing me. Problem is in these scenarios the extra money saved with Digne doesn't help that much, would mean Ings over Kamara probably, but not like Ings is nailed at the moment.

Have fpl have Schindler on the wrong points?

        Oh right. Didn't know that.
Fantasy Football Fix have Schindler @-2 and the fpl have him @-3.

The fpl rule does not make sense to me.
When a player is subbed before the 60 minute he cannot get clean sheet points.
Surely the same logic should apply to red cards?
If he gone he cannot get more negative points etc

watched first half of chelsea match. Haz had a close range effort smashed at the keeper's face. Other than that he had maybe one other goal opportunity in the box, but that was it, didn't have any potential assists. This was first half only. But chelsea were poor, home fans were groaning for a decent part of the match.

      Watched all the Chelsea game.
Hazard was lively but well marshalled.
Morata being a Donkey did not help.
Chelsea looked much better when Fabregas came on for Barkley.
Yosihida and Gunn were great for Southampton.

Only saw Man United highlights they look like an Alex Ferguson team vibrant attacking intent.
Pogba missed a sitter near the end.

    Advice here lads?

Absolutely dire straights here. Have gone from 174 k to over 1 milion rank last 8 gameweeks! Literally 1 million now, I just have to laugh at this point, guaranteed red arrow it seems these days.

Planning to WC next week or even this week. Feel I have too much ground to make up. Only targeting a top 100k finish at this point.

No Salah/Kane has hurt me and holding city assets which I just changed this week.

    Current team:

    Fab
    Alonso Doherty Laporte TAA Robbo
    Richarlison, Siggy, Haz, Pogba, Snoddy
    Wilson, Jimenez, Auba

Obviously I've kept too much in the defense for too long. Was honestly happy with my team with sane/sterling/haz as my big hitters in midfield with a cheap forward line until I brought in auba this week.

Would apprecitate any quick thoughts! Thinking about a differential WC with double/triple city mids and only one of kane/salah and captaining him every week. If Kane would probably go triple liverpool at the back. Can I really afford to just slowly chip away without wildcarding? Embarassing posting my situation but cheers everyone for your time!

Not sure you need to wildcard.
Nothing a few hits wouldn't sort out.
You need to be looking at getting three spurs players in for two gameweeks time.
Think that should be your main priority.
      Plenty of choice there.

Monitor the Everton guys. Not worth ditching yet with their fixtures imo.
It's no coincidence that they have had the poorest results over the festive period. They had the joint worst schedule with Spurs and they don't have the squad depth to cope.

Decided to try out an experiment this season. Managing two teams. One for me and one for close mate.

Thing is to use two different sets of players mainly for attackers

Eg. If i have richarlison he has siggurdson. if i have fraser he has wilson. if kane then auba. perreyra/fanderson. pogba/son, sterling/sane, hazard/Salah etc

Funny thing is our teams are different but points wise margin is very close. shows you dont hv to fixate on specific player. you can take alternative paths as well 😉 Thoughts?

Morning DZ, hope yer all well. 2FT & 0.1 ITB, what would you do (obviously dependent on how LIVMCI game unfolds too)? Obvious thing is to get Salah in, but can’t decide if I want to drop Auba or Haz for him (think Kane stays, right?)...

Have *’d players im currently not sure about keeping

    Fabianski* Hamer
    Alonso* Robertson Doherty AWB Digne
    Hazard* Sane* Pogba Snodgrass* Billing
    Kane Auba* Jimenez

    Some options maybe:
    A) Auba Snodgrass —> Salah Quaner, but requiring a downgrade of 1.0 elsewhere
    B) Auba Sane —> Salah 7.4striker
    C) Hazard xxx —> Salah xxx
    D) Wait til next week to get Salah as Auba and Haz have good fixtures, or do something else

Really appreciate it, will try to help yous out too

i've had poor luck with premium assets this year as you know from above, but I think it depends on the replacement players and who you would prefer when removing either haz or auba. If you go with option b you could bring in rashford/arnie. If C - not sure exactly how much you'd have for a midfielder (I'm guessing less than that) so depends if you rate any at that price point.

Been an odd year, when I have what I think is a strong team fielded, my team does poorly. Then in weeks where I am dreading results as I have a lot of iffy matchups, my team does poorly 🙂 Oh well, hope everyone had a great holiday and enjoys the second half of FPL !!! My march to the top 100k is going backward at the moment, but I'll turn it around eventually.

    TAA,Lovren,Luiz
    Pogba,Fraser,F.Anderson,Salah(C)
    Rashford,Kane,Aubameyang(VC)

Could the below work even with a weakish defense? TAA, Digne and Doherty have decent enough fixtures for medium term and are attacking defenders (although wolves and everton seem to be allergic to clean sheets ATM). Would allow me to keep 4 big hitters which could work for me, since I can't seem to own them at the right time this year. No city is a worry, but Auba could be Kun if it seems like the right call.

    Fab (Hamer)
    TAA, Digne, Doherty, (AWB, Bednarek)
    Salah, Haz, Pogba, Brooks, (Billing)
    Auba, Kane, Arnie

    1. Kiwivillan

I have Alonso Digne Doherty AWB Kiko for ages. There's no standout defenders if you don't have Robbo since early and been more focused on mid and forward trades. Prefer balance of my team with no Hazard and Auba

      1. Jayv807
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

I have Robbo at the moment and have had him since GW1 (AWB being the only other player in my team I have owned all season). If I don't go with the above team, I'll likely drop Haz to Eriksen (likely to Son when he gets back) which would allow me to upgrade Brooks to a 6.9m mid.

I know the returns have been pretty bad, but I have watched a few of Bournemouth's games this year (as I had King/Fraser for ages) and he is a good player I reckon and unlucky not to have had more returns. But to answer your question, no, I don't really want to have to start him every week.

Hazard 3 scores higher than 6 last 10. 5 scores 3 or less. Don't regret selling weeks ago even if missed out on 13 and 15 as would've probably captained this week

That and propensity for low scoring as above 50% of last 10 equals terrible value and this has been debated season after season. He's recognised as an FPL troll for good reason

        1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
          • 16 Years
          7 years, 4 months ago

It’s all about timing with Haz - He’ll continue to score loads of points this year, he’ll easily have his best FPL season (needs another 15-ish attacking returns plus baps and 5-6 clean sheets in 17 starts to break 250 point barrier for the first time)

But he’s too unpredictable to captain reliably at the minute

While he’s comfortably outscoring Sterling & Kun and has banging fixtures his owners don’t need to panic at all, just think very carefully before captaining

      2. IAWC ( It's a Wonderfu…
        • 8 Years

Well all depends on players he plays with anyway.Same with Kane when he plays with moura for Haz with Barkley morata it reduces their captaincy appeal. Its not as if Chelsea are scoring goals without hazard involvement. If they score he will likely he involved.
