After the hectic Christmas period, there is no little consensus over which premium Fantasy Premier League options are the best to own.

The problem has been particularly prevalent in midfield and attack with the recent re-emergence of Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) forcing managers to chop and change their more expensive assets to get him back in.

We have decided to take the opportunity of the upcoming break from league action to compare some of the popular players at the dearer end of their classification.

These are Salah, Raheem Sterling (£11.3m), Eden Hazard (£11.1m), Leroy Sané (£9.5m) and Paul Pogba (£8.4m) in midfield with Harry Kane (£12.6m), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.4m), Sergio Aguero (£11.2m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.1m) up front.

Using the Fantasy Football Scout members’ area we have weighed these options against each other for various statistics over the last six Gameweeks.

The analysis takes into account their minutes per shots in the box, minutes per efforts on target, creativity and expected data.

We have chosen the period of the last six Gameweeks to factor in the hectic festive period but also to take into account some of the matches before that too.

Those who aren’t currently paid up members could wait until the weekend to pick up a discounted membership for £10 and access this later…

    Anderson + Kamara to 4.5–4.8 + Rashford/Arnie?

        1. MTPockets
          7 years, 7 months ago

Sure, but thats not really relevant to Salah vs Mane form and points

It's relevant to form, quite a similar situation. And Mané was so close to scoring yesterday when he hit the post as well

I'm not saying Salah won't get points, I'm saying Mané could near the performances of Salah and he is 4 million cheap.

            2. MTPockets
              7 years, 7 months ago

You're obviously right that if his form picks up then could be worth trading down from Salah. The problem is that's yet to happen, and Salah offers a fairly consistent captaincy option from the team top of the league with significant ownership.

But each to their own - if you see something in his gameplay that draws you in now then go for it.

                7 years, 7 months ago

The main reason I'm looking at Mané is that Sané and Hazard are my only way to get Salah and don't think that move worth the risk and it need 2 transfers. Hoping that Felipe to Mané could reduce the damage Salah might do.

                1. MTPockets
                  7 years, 7 months ago

I don't think Mane 'covers' Salah's points at all. However it's possible that he accrues points in his own right with the better fixtures ahead. I'd prefer Salah to Hazard but agree these aren't easy choices esp if needs multiple transfers

They were going toe to toe just before chrismas, Mané even outscored him at times. I'm trying to convince myself I know, but it can easily happen

Mane will not keep up with Mo, I said it at the start, its unsustainable and he was greatly overperforming. He has never been a 20+ goal per season player and he still isn't, he's still top class mind you 🙂

    17 weeks to go....

Who still has a realistic chance of winning FPL? Top 1k? Top 100? Even fewer?

Person ranked 1k is 129 points behind 1st. Person ranked 100th is 92 points behind 1st.

      Top 100K could win.
Think Jinswick was over that at this stage and finished 2nd.
He won the last quarter most points GWs 30-38 or something overall.

Oh wow really? I sort of assumed you’d need to be within 100 points or so at this stage given the number of players.

Don’t suppose you have a link to Jindwick gameweek by gameweek history for that season?

Not much between 1k and 100th - one bad GW and you drop from 100 to out of 1k.

Has no. 1 used chips? A lot will depend on the blanks and the DGWs, especially if we have fireworks like Kane and Sanchez two years ago.

    Who to bench from:

    Richarlison / Fraser / Son / Pogba / Sane
    Kane/ Jimenez / Wilson?

I'm leaning towards Son. Might be a stupid move but I see no reason for a double up against a rejuvenated United team. My gut instincts have been great lately haha

Trying to finalise my WC with the final big hitter combo?!!!..help

i've been though all the stats, shots in area, on target, points per min played last 10 vs whole season.

spurs and united options better in all these over the last few games, but over the season sane and city and pool stats are insane.

    i'm down to this:
    Guaita
    speroni

    Trip
    lovren
    taa
    wb
    bednarek

    sal
    sane
    pogba
    ?
    Camarasa

    Arnie
    ?
    ?

Currently on Auba Rashford and Eriksen with .8m in the bank.
should i be thinking of Aguero Kane or Hazard??

    please advise

Probably save. Crazy how deep a team can look with no Kane/Salah.

No Liverpool attack is obviously the big gap/ risk. Realistically if you are going to have Liverpool attacking cover (which I think is close to essential) then it has to be Salah

Is it a risky move Auba to Kun?

Strong feeling that Kun will haul big time

It’s not risky if Kun does haul big time!

Swapping one fit premium for another always carries an element of risk, it’s who you want in the long run that matters

There's certainly risk, Aubameyang wasn't far away from a monster haul and it's not like West Ham are rock solid defensively. But I'm tempted too. It does feel like City could be about to kick it into overdrive.

Auba has six big chances in the last four and only converting one of them. I don't want to be without him when he does 😮

It is, because Auba is likely to haul against that leaky Wham backline!

Which of these is best over the next few GWs? Have 2FTs so no hits involved.

    A) GW 22: Daniels >Bednarek, GW 23: Auba+Son> Kane+Rich, GW24: Anderson>Pogba
    B) Same as above but Son>Fraser, Anderson>Eriksen
    C) GW22: Anderson>Pereyra, GW 23:Auba+Son>Kane+Pogba, GW24: Holebas>TAA

    Team is
    Patricio Hamer
    Digne Doherty Holebas AWB Daniels
    Salah Haz Son Anderson Hojbjerg
    Auba Jimenez Ings
    2FTs 0.6 ITB

I have gone with Firmino because I think he just hit form and will keep scoring..good fixtures too.

Anything else you would change in this team?

    Foster Speroni
    TAA Doherty Digne AWB Balbuena
    Salah(C) Hazard Sane Fraser Hjobjerg*
    Kane Firmino Kamara

With the season he is having and the kind of service he might get from Hazard and the creatif midfield they have, might as well work. Morata and Giroud miss a lot

Of course he is. If he can score goals at Bournemouth, then he can score goals at a "bigger" club!

    My actual FPL team:

    Hennessey
    VVD - Digne - Pereira - WanBissaka
Pogba - Hazard (vC)- Salah (C) - Richarlison
    Auba - Rashford

    Fabianski - jimenez - doherty - billing.

    FT:1
    ItB: 0.1

    How to improve my team?
Rich (price dropped), Jimenez -> fraser, arnautovic (-4).
    other option?
    or wait?

    Hi all,
I'm looking for some ideas on what to do next:

    Ederson (Hamer)
    Laporte, Alonso, AWB, Lovern, Bennet
    Salah, Hazard, Westwood, Hojbjerg, 4.2
    Kane, Firminio, Rashford

I've been doing well in the past few weeks but definitely would appreciate some suggestions

    Thanks

Any update on why Ings was withdrawn at half time v Chelsea?

Anything serious or just a precautionary measure?

    £3.9m ITB. 1FT

What would you want to change if you did?

You can’t ask such a general question and offer no thoughts of your own if you want helpful responses

        I'd probably keep:-
        Kane
        Hazard
        Pogba
        Digne
        AWB

        And sell the rest
