Gameweek 24 is just around the corner and our regular feature looking at three overlooked Fantasy Premier League assets returns ahead of the midweek deadline.

All of these mid-price differentials have an FPL ownership between 3% and 5%, with one set to enjoy a Double Gameweek 25 too.

David Silva (£8.5m)

FPL ownership: 4.3%

After being handed the night off in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg win over Burton Albion last Wednesday and featuring only as a substitute in the hammering of Burnley in the FA Cup on Saturday, a rested David Silva (£8.5m) looks primed to return to the Manchester City starting XI on Tuesday.

Silva’s ingenuity may well be needed to prise open a Newcastle United defence that is likely to be obstinate in nature, if past evidence is anything to go by when the Magpies have come up against a “big six” side.

Kevin De Bruyne (£9.7m) is another City midfield differential but after starting both of those aforementioned cup ties and given that he is still building up his match-fitness, the Belgian is less certain to feature on Tyneside in midweek, particularly with stiffer tests ahead – Arsenal (h), Everton (a) and Chelsea (h) – in the coming fortnight.

Silva’s minutes-per-key pass average is the best among City’s regular midfielders this season and only three Premier League players in his position have created more big chances in 2018/19.

“El Mago” also ranks sixth among FPL midfielders for penalty box touches this season and even has a better minutes-per-shot rate than Raheem Sterling (£11.3m).

With a Double Gameweek just around the corner, Silva could be a points-spinning differential beyond Tuesday.

Xherdan Shaqiri (£7.1m)

FPL ownership: 3.0%

A “proceed with caution” selection due to his significant rotation risk status, Xherdan Shaqiri (£7.1m) has nevertheless become a more prominent figure in Jurgen Klopp’s plans recently, having started in eight of Liverpool’s last 12 Premier League games.

Shaqiri is generally the fall guy when Klopp uses a 4-3-3 against fellow “big six” clubs but has mostly been a regular on the right flank since the German manager adopted his now widely used 4-2-3-1 in November.

It would be a surprise if last weekend’s failed experiment with Naby Keita (£7.2m ) on the opposite wing – and Sadio Mane (£9.5m) on the right – is repeated, with Shaqiri primed for a return to the Liverpool starting XI against a Leicester side that shipped four goals at Wolves in Gameweek 23.

Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) and Son Heung-min (£8.6m) are the only two FPL midfielders to have scored more goals than Shaqiri since his run in the team began in earnest in Gameweek 12.

A maverick (and unreliable, from a selection perspective) pick he may be, but with Manchester United the only “big six” team that Liverpool face in the coming eight Gameweeks, the Swiss midfielder should see plenty of game-time if Klopp’s 4-2-3-1 continues as expected.

The Reds are also one of only five teams currently guaranteed to have a fixture in the Blank Gameweeks of 27, 31 and 33.

Patrick van Aanholt (£5.4m)

FPL ownership: 4.0%

A fair number of us have had a representative of Crystal Palace’s backline in our squads for much of the season in the form of Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.5m), who sits in over one-third of FPL teams and is the third-most-popular defender in the game.

Patrick van Aanholt (£5.4m) has quietly amassed a tidy haul this season, however, outstripping Wan-Bissaka for overall score in FPL and having accrued only five points fewer than Matt Doherty (£5.2m).

Crystal Palace sit second in our Season Ticker for the next four Gameweeks, with their appealing run of fixtures starting with a clash against a Southampton side that have registered the second-lowest number of attempts on goal and shots in the box over the last six Gameweeks.

No club outside the current top four have kept as many clean sheets as the Eagles (eight) this season, with half of those shut-outs coming on the road.

From Gameweek 3 onwards, no FPL defender has had as many attempts on goal as van Aanholt, with only two players in his position having had as many shots in the box as the Dutch left-back.

All of van Aanholt’s attacking returns have come away from home this season, too.

    Etheridge/Guiata
    Robertson, Digne, AWB, Kola, Bennett
    Salah, Hazard, Richarlison, Anderson, Pogba
    Rashford, Mitrovic, Success
    £2.9m ITB

My initial transfer plan was to roll my free transfer and next week downgrade Richarlison or Anderson to Jota and buy Firmino for Success.

With the DGW announcement, I’m pondering about Sane in for Anderson, although I will of course have to transfer back out for the BGW and I won’t be able to do my Firmino transfer until after the DGW then.

What do you think folks, Sane this week or stick to plan A?

    My plan is:
    FH DGW32
    Wild Card GW 34
    Bench boost DGW35

I dont want To use My triple captain SGW so should i use it next week (DGW25) for players like Sane or KDB or Take a risk and hope that maybe Chelsea or some other team gets extra DGW?

Chelsea are bound to get an extra dgw. No risk in it.
Only risk is TC Hazard as he is unreliable Captaincy option recently.

Go with your gut feeling mate. 70-80% people here will tell you Salah which is correct considering his form & ownership.
I'm going Auba © personally ( Rational behind it is that it's one of the best fixtures of the season + I'm trying to gain some ground on my rival )

What seems to have been barely mentioned here is that if you have all your chips left, this is percentage wise the only likely chance you'll get to play it on a double.

There will likely only be two other double weeks. And I will be saving my free hit/wildcard for one and bench boost for the other (which of the first two to play first for later discussion)

There is a small chance (around 25%) that Chelsea might get a third double, but drawing a reborn United in cup is certainly not ideal.

So for me, who's committed to the above chip strategy the choice is simple.

    1. Triple Sane/Sterling in 25
    2. Triple Salah in a single week
    3. Hope Chelsea get an extra double and triple Hazard, and if they don't, see 2 and hope Pool haven't won league by then

For me given the long rest just afforded to the two City boys and their position in the league. It's 1 all the way here.

Yeah I am going to TC Sane for that double. I actually think Salah has a better match that GW, as WHU will have a go and they also have a shambolic defence, but I can't see where else I would use the TC if I don't in that week.

Based on my thoughts that out of all the chips, which I do have them all atm, TC would probably give the lowest ceiling points compared to the FH/BB. It would be sensible to use FH/BB later for the bigger double GW, leaving TC for DGW25 or probable Chelsea's DGW.

I currently have Aguero & Sane. Old Aguero/pre-Pep City team would easily be my TC for DGW25, but now i may use it on Sane.

Any changes needed here? Thinking of Kolasinac in for S Cook

    Ederson Hamer
AWB Robertson Doherty Digne S Cook
    Salah Sané Hazard Pogba Fraser
    Rashford Ings Jiménez

    £0.8m itb

    Cheers for any input

    Button
    Alonso, Doherty, Digne
    Richa, Hazard, Salah (VC), Pogba
    Auba (C), Jimenez, Rashford

    Guaita*, Van Dijk*, Camarasa, Bednarek

    1FT, 0.1 ITB

    A) Button -> some GK. Southampton are top of defence ticker, but i already have Bednarek. Other options fixture wise among quality defences are Wolves, Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Liverpool
    B) Alonso, Button -> AWB, Allison (-4)
    C) Save transfer and do smth like B next week
    D) Forget about keeper for now and do Alonso, Richa -> DSilva, AWB

Is Kola a good option for the next 5 GWs (City being the only tough fixture) or is the Arsenal defence a trap?

Well possibility of Monreal at CB was enough to put me off

I wouldn't expect more than 1-2 CSs in that time (if that) but the possibility for an assist or two, and maybe a goal given the competition, is quite tempting

AWB or Bennett would come in... good enough cover?

    For the DGW.
    1. Haz to Sane
    2. Etheridge to Ederson (gonna set and forget him for rest of season)
    3. Both for a -4.

No other city cover at the mo.

    Who scores more?

    Sterling (new, ARS, eve, CHE)
    Hazard (bou, HUD, mci)

      Sterling most likely

If he plays every game I probably agree.

Sterling probably but Hazards home game v Hudds is really appealing.

Yeah, it’s stopping me from selling him. But it’s hazard, he’ll probably blank vs HUD and get a brace vs City.

Asked same question earlier. Can do Alli to either and still not convinced Chelsea will score many goals but Hazard only needs 1 for max baps usually

I own Hazard, it’s hard to sell before bou and hud but I think it makes sense

Sterling with an extra chance there

Yeah, he has an extra fixture. Doesn’t mean he will play them all, and Chelsea have a kinder run arguably.

Keep Haz for Bournemouth tie, then Sterling for the three games before the blank could do it. Your gut likely the best advisor 🙂

    (B) doherty

Tough. B because I believe West Ham are more likely to score but obviously both players can return attacking points

    Got Digne and Sterling.

Even with 2FT not sure I'm going to actually bother getting any other DGW players.

Whatever I do involves pretty much getting rid of a player I will want back the following GW.

    Anyone else in similar situation?
