With the Gameweek 34 deadline looming, Fantasy managers who are deploying their Wildcard (or otherwise) will be mulling over the various options for the season run-in.

With that in mind, we have looked at several defensive candidates to be considered between now and the end of 2019/20.

To do that, we have made use of the wealth of data available in the Members’ Area and those subscribing can read on below.

Now that we are well past the halfway stage of the season, memberships are available for just £10 and can be acquired by signing up HERE.

Our article on goalkeepers can be found by clicking on this link.

    Robbo or VVD on WC?

Spurs defence looks a great shout - problem is who to pick? Not keen on Lloris as I’d still play Ryan this week but spurs have the prime fixture.

Trippier has some rotation threat ... it’s tough

I think I am going with Lloris/Ryan combo, play Ryan this week, both next week and then Lloris for the rest of the season and Ryan is a perfect bench keeper.

I agree with this but it’s very annoying to have to bench Lloris this week and not have any spurs for Huddersfield

Last thoughts please. WC and BB35

Front 8 locked in (I think) as:
    Son, Eriksen, Mane, Sterling, JWP
    Aguero, Deeney, Jimenez.

    In terms of back line:
    X, Foster
    X, X, X, Duffy, Valery

    Who should the X’s be?

    A) Lloris, Dunk, Doherty, Robertson
    B) Ryan, Laporte, Trippier, TAA

Bonus question: for GW34 only would you rather Aguero or Vardy

    1. ESilva23
      • 7 Years

      Bonus first - Vardy

        It’s like an impossible jigsaw!

I really don’t want Dunk (would prefer Ryan) but I really want Robertson over TAA and I’m nervous over spurs defenders rotation risk. I’m going mad!!

          Agree with all you say!

I ended up on the team below. Went for Lloris as the safer Spurs defence pick. Had to have Robbo over TAA. Just prefer him

I’d prefer Salah over mane too but I won’t be greedy 🙂

Your team looks great - identical to mine except Laporte, Jota vs Dunk, Mane.

Mane reason I’ve hit mane now is I want mane and Salah for 36 will TC Salah all being well.

Despite our teams being nearly the same no doubt there will be a 20+ point difference in outcome this week!

Haha no doubt you’re right re the point difference. The beauty of the game!

I’m also planning on getting in Mané for GW36 for the Salah/Mané double up and TC on Salah almost certainly.

Basically I wanted Salah now and so had to decide between Kun or Sterling and my gut feel is Kun is marginally more likely to play more minutes. Both are great picks though

Also wanting a stronger defence meant I couldn’t get Kun + Sterling and Salah

Thanks for the insight though - very helpful. 🙂

This wildcard is the last big decision of the season really - the rest should sort of take care of itself

      A;

      Bonus answer:

Aguero, unless there is anything Pep says to suggest otherwise. Also, depends on Poch. If he says Son ok and ready to go - then Kun. Becasue then you have an easy captain option.

    2. Punt on Vardy this week, then keep or Vardy-> Laca
    a. FOSTER - Robbo DOHERTY - Mane Sterling - Vardy

I would think most on here know that it is unlikely any top player plays 180mins

We are just playing the odds that their returns across the 2 and form/ fixtures make them worth it

    2. Pep bites Kun
      • 9 Years
      6 years, 11 months ago

More than likely. Personally I think we may be better served with teams who are fighting relegation, although we should still consider the title & top 4 spots - what's your take?

      1. Hotdogs for Tea
        • 10 Years
        6 years, 11 months ago

I think I am fishing for a few more players from the top teams that will start 2 in the doubles, I just can’t identify them really.

On that basis I may go 5 at the back but without any City or Utd defenders, and look at the likes of JWP, Llorente, KdB, D Silva (or one second stringer if it exists) etc.

Ultimately there will be disappointment but I am thinking of countering that by partly planning the WC for 34 and getting Vardy & Siggy and then be prepared to take a -8 to get a proper 15 man squad for 35 rather than a 11 man team & a bench

I am also drifting back towards the likes of Kola, Laca, Pogba etc just to shake it up ... it will end in tears though no doubt 🙂

    Posted on wrong article

I’m done! My delusions of Murray have been banished (just don’t buy his form and age will lead to anything more than mediocrity or disappointment!) and I’m happy. What do you think? Bench make sense?

    0.4itb
    Lloris
    Robbo, Laporte, Duffy
    Salah, Eriksen (C), Son, Jota
    Aguero (v), Jimi, Deeney
    (Foster) (JWP, Doherty, Valery)

Will BB35. If at all possible I may try and save FT to have 2FT to bring in Mané or Bobby for GW36

Only question left is the Captain conundrum!! Currently thinking a punt on Eriksen!

I can see Laporte starting both. I've got all the others bar TAA and i'm hoping for 90mins from them really.

Pretty much template - really 90% of us will be picking from the list below - Ive gone with the lot on the left and the alternatives that are most obvious to the right....

GK - Foster*, Ryan*, Lloris, Gunn

Def - Duffy*, Trippier*, Doherty* Valery*, TAA*, ( LaPorte, Robbo, Dunk)

Mid -Mane*, Son*, Eriksen*, Sterling*, Jota*, ( KDB, JWP, Dacoure, Hojberg for the paupers)

Att - Kun*, Jimmy*, Deeney* (Vardy, Lacaz, Auba)

    C. Other suggestions

    Lloris, Foster
    xxx, TAA, Duffy, Doherty, Valery
    Sterling, Mane, Erik, Son, Hojberg
    Kun, Jim, Deeney

Would go Eriksen over Son - this might be Poch's last opportunity to rest Son before the season is up.

Was concidering Duffy, but then even if he gets one clean sheet without a bonus, that's 8p. Eriksen is a bonus magnet and could potentially match that by just getting an assist.

Duffy - so I don't have to buy Dunk (have Ryan also)...…

62.6% chance of at least 1 clean sheet for Brighton this week, I like those odds.

Feels as if this is the best I can do. Have seen many similar teams except they've had a quality premium defender like Robertson while I have Bennett because of my low TV. Any thoughts appriciated!

    Lloris - Foster
    Duffy - Dunk - Doherty - Valery - Bennett
    Eriksen - Son - Sterling - Mané - Knockaert (Deulo for GW35)
    Aguero - Deeney - Jimenez

Could potentially do Bennett + Valery to Bednarek and Jonny, but that would be sideways right?

    Cheers!

You need at least TAA there if u cant afford Robbo, maybe downgrade 5th mid to Hojberg or JWP if you can afford

VvD and Robertson are too expensive for my budget, but could potentially stretch it to get TAA. But I really don't fancy that due to rotation, with Gomez, Fabinho and Milner all able to play, especially in a game like Hudds home the weekend before a CL semi final.

The thing is right now Mane is 100% a better option and gives you 3m to spare. What we are betting with Salah is that he will find form to end the season as the Salah of last season.

Yep Camarasa. I also looked at Morrison, but don't really want a Cardiff def or take a hit taking both out for 35 ...

    Kolasinac for the DGW people?

Settled on my WC (with some lingering question on Caption/starting lineup) Sitting on 6.2 ITB so I can splurge if desired in the coming weeks (if, say, Salah hits stride)

    Currently:
    Ryan (V)
    Duffy (C), Trippier, Doherty
Son, Eriksen, De Bruyne, Siggy, Jota
    Vardy, Calvert-Lewin

    B: Foster, Jiménez, TAA, Kolas

Bench Boost 35 with likely transfers being:
    C-L -> Deeney,
    Siggy -> Southampton/Watford Mid

    36 likely transfers
    Trippier -> Robbo
    Vardy -> Firmino

I dont understand why you would leave so much in your bank and have picked weaker players over stronger ones nor why you rate Calvert Lewin over Deeney and 4 points this week.

      1. ESilva23
        • 7 Years

In terms of the -4 hit, if my choices come in well I feel its negligible overall to take a few hits over the next few weeks.

Calvert-Lewin has 4 returns in his last 6 and will be playing Fulham.
I've paired him with Siggy to maximize potential as Siggy is near the top of assist attempts in the last four and C-L is near top of shots in box last four.

I do also remember a lot of discussion from the scoutcast folks earlier in the year about how having the most expensive team didn't actually mean the best team in the run in last season. That said, it also allows me flexibility to still do whatever I want really after this week.

        Plus, its fun!
