The captain hindsight brigade was out in full force this week to bash the Scoutcasters – among others – for recommending Brighton defender Shane Duffy for the Gameweek 34 armband.

With goal threat and two home games against Bournemouth and Cardiff, it seemed a good call. But with seven goals conceded without reply over this pair of games, reality had other ideas.

Az, Joe and their guest Adam Hopcroft take stock of a less-than-inspiring Double Gameweek, with no regrets about their armband blunder.

For Az and Adam, captaining a player with two fixtures over one had merit, especially in a week with no standout captain elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Joe was looking for another Stephane Sessegnon moment. This refers to the “VE Day”-style celebrations among the Fantasy community back in 2012, when the similarly unlikely Double Gameweek armbandee rifled in an injury-time goal against Reading for Sunderland in the Black Cats’ second match that week. It was so memorable that, almost seven years on, Az even remembers who got the assist during that magical moment.

Aside from assessing their newly deployed Wildcards, the crew also take stock of the community’s questions. The fallout from Troy Deeney’s red card and Mohamed Salah’s return to goalscoring form are among the issues covered.

Coping with rotation among the ranks of Manchester City and Spurs also gets an airing.

The Scoutcast’s latest talking point draws inspiration from the top managers this season, to find out what lessons we can learn from them and what it takes to gain an elite-level overall rank.

The community’s roughest and smoothest moves are looked at, including one of the most shambolic Wildcards of all time.

The crew finish off with a detailed look at their Gameweek 35 clean sheet predictions, differential tips, captaincy calls and transfer plans.

      Laporte let his teammates down.

But Laporte is a part of the City team, so City didn't deserve to go through.

So Laporte having a bad game eradicated the fact city absolutely dominated them? What a stupid comment....

Because one player had a poor game they didn’t deserve to win? Ridiculous statement.

Most of the City players did well and didn't deserve to lose, but it's a team game.

It's a fuzzy topic though. My opinion isn't strong enough to argue it.

          1. Regin
            • 8 Years

City got a fluke penalty in the first leg which Aguero missed. Llorente goal was legitimate imo. It may have brushed his hand, but what was he supposed to do with his hand. City did not show any urgency in the first leg, hence they are out.

Football has changed a lot in recent years, Aguero has had to adapt his game for example. The guy upfront who just scores goals doesn’t work anymore...you need more than that. Kane is a great goal scorer but not sure the very top teams play like that now. Not saying he’s a bad player, just think there’s an argument to say spurs are better without him due to a more fluent formation

Kane is an excellent player even when he doesn't score.. His link up play and passing is very good. It's not his fault that poch can't figure out a good system that fits him, son and Eriksen at the same time.

A guy in work has been saying that Spurs are better without Kane and I'm starting to think he's right.

Salah, Eriksen, Deeney -> Mane, Sterling, Rashford (-8)

The blood has rushed from my head. I think I still have a football boner.

Nah. Keep Salah. Maybe downgrade Eriksen to Son to get funds to replace Deeney.

Don’t get rid of salah for a hit. Learnt the hard way earlier in year getting auba in for Huddersfield then salah got his hat trick vs Bournemouth

Remember Eriksen is playing Brighton this GW, as well as City. Brighton at home must be one of the easiest fixtures on current form.

No need to rest Son now that he will miss the CL semi? I'm thinking of captaining him now.
