The captain hindsight brigade was out in full force this week to bash the Scoutcasters – among others – for recommending Brighton defender Shane Duffy for the Gameweek 34 armband.

With goal threat and two home games against Bournemouth and Cardiff, it seemed a good call. But with seven goals conceded without reply over this pair of games, reality had other ideas.

Az, Joe and their guest Adam Hopcroft take stock of a less-than-inspiring Double Gameweek, with no regrets about their armband blunder.

For Az and Adam, captaining a player with two fixtures over one had merit, especially in a week with no standout captain elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Joe was looking for another Stephane Sessegnon moment. This refers to the “VE Day”-style celebrations among the Fantasy community back in 2012, when the similarly unlikely Double Gameweek armbandee rifled in an injury-time goal against Reading for Sunderland in the Black Cats’ second match that week. It was so memorable that, almost seven years on, Az even remembers who got the assist during that magical moment.

Aside from assessing their newly deployed Wildcards, the crew also take stock of the community’s questions. The fallout from Troy Deeney’s red card and Mohamed Salah’s return to goalscoring form are among the issues covered.

Coping with rotation among the ranks of Manchester City and Spurs also gets an airing.

The Scoutcast’s latest talking point draws inspiration from the top managers this season, to find out what lessons we can learn from them and what it takes to gain an elite-level overall rank.

The community’s roughest and smoothest moves are looked at, including one of the most shambolic Wildcards of all time.

The crew finish off with a detailed look at their Gameweek 35 clean sheet predictions, differential tips, captaincy calls and transfer plans.

You mean doing both those moves in 37?

I mean that Sterling this week.... (if he plays)...... unmissable!

Would be a colossal hit if I was to get Sterling in this week without sacrificing Salah and that’s not happening this week. Plus Deeney and Brighton lads to sort out.

          I’m looking at Aguero,Deeney > Firmino,Wilson -4 (Dunk > DGWer -8) maybe.

          Week 36 Erikson > Mane
          Week 37 Salah > Sterling

          Have KDB and Son.

Oof you would take out Kun this week?! I wouldn’t have the balls

            I’m planning
Deeney, Duffy > Wilson, Yoshida (-4) this week

            And
Eriksen, Foster > Mané, Hamer (-4) in GW36. Salah TC

Don’t have a plan for Sterling....

Have Kun, Son, Eriksen, Robbo and Salah

That first move is an option for me as well.

              Could always do Erikson,Aguero > Sterling,Firmino in 36 instead.

This article is hilarious. There were quite a few of us who ridiculed bringing Brighton defenders in before the DGW.

A team that have kept 6 clean sheets this season and are fighting relegation and are in general quite rubbish.

      Hindsight my something or other.

The hive mind contaminates any logical process and ridicules those who go against the 'obvious' picks.

Questionable articles and general conversation on this site recently.

      Zzzzz.

          1. JohnnyMagrinho
              6 years, 7 months ago

              That's my point. 100%.
"You've said something we don't agree with - go somewhere else."

              Why?

Why is that the rhetoric? Why is this kind of rubbish being spat around instead of "We were wrong to suggest that. Looking back on it there was cause to think differently to what we originally thought."

              But no. "Go somewhere else."

              Yawn. Huge yawn.

Insight, analysis, stats, knowledge of teams and players. It's fine to have differing thoughts and opinions on what might happen, but to suggest this was ever a good idea and it's only with hindsight that it's obvious is just so, so wrong.

And perhaps, maybe, instead of me "going somewhere else" there could be more of an exchange of ideas rather than people posting inane RMTs and "please agree with what I want to do so I can feel justified when I get annoyed because it all goes wrong."

Your response is boring, like this article and it's a shame.

they had conceded just 16 in 15 home games, which isn't bad - Bournemouth and Cardiff were hardly banging them in - it was a failed punt but I'd definitely do it again in similar circumstances, absolutely nothing to do with 'hive mind' for me.

I certainly wouldn't ridicule anyone who said differently, but I think it was worth a shot. If it were Huddersfield defenders I definitely wouldn't have bothered.

VAR will quite possibly make FPL worse next year.

Everyone's team will be rammed with designated penalty takers...more template than ever 🙁

Sure, but then the players learn what they can not do and eventually stop doing it. Those who can't learn will end up in the Championship.

Penalty takers and their convertion rate will continue to vary and will keep us with the same Milner, Firmino, Salah dilemma.
