As we gear up for the start of the 2019/20 season, we are frantically working behind the scenes to make improvements for our site users and subscribers.

We have a number of exciting developments in the pipeline but we’ll need an additional body to help us roll out the changes we have planned.

Our previous call to arms was for editorial staff but we are now looking for a web developer to assist with the technical side of things.

We work remotely so location shouldn’t be an issue for anyone considering applying. Flexibility of hours would be desirable, however.

We are looking for the following skills from our candidates:

Required

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and CSS, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
  • Proficient with CSS2/CSS3
  • Knowledge of Accessibility and Web Standards
  • Experience with both Responsive and Adaptive Web Design

Beneficial

  • A working knowledge of Git
  • Experience with PHP

Ideal

  • Experience of React.js
  • Knowledge of WordPress

Based on past experience with our job adverts, we need to stress that it may take a little time to look through and respond to applications. But if that doesn’t put you off and you want to get involved with the next chapter of the site, please drop us a line with your CV at jobs@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Not much in it, maybe the first one as i’m less keen on Walker.
However, personally I would go for TAA, VVD and Laporte (having spent more time than I should have trying to pick between the LIV defs).

Using this seasons prices with last seasons scores:

      Robbo (7) 213
      VVD (6.5) 208
      Laporte (6.5) 177
      = 20m for 598

      Robbo (7) 213
      Trent (7) 185
      Walker (6) 150
      = 20m for 548

I don't see how you can argue TAA over VVD. VVD is 0.5m cheaper and nothing to suggest he wont outscore TAA again this season especially as Gomez is going to be rotating with him at RB. I have no idea why so many people aren't understanding this is going to happen.
Laporte was OOP at times and was given license to roam in advanced positions. Will that happen again this season? Mendy and Zinchenko will be at LB and Laporte will be firmly back in CB and only advanced at set pieces.
Walker looks better value for money than Laporte. Would you take 25-30 points less for 0.5m saved? I know I would.

I'd go: Robbo, VVD and Walker if I had to choose 3 out of those 5.

Over the whole season VVD did better than TAA. But trent was in the form of his life in the last 3rd of the season and I'd back that to continue this season as long as he keeps a share of set pieces...

You should do on PPM not total points.

        TAA 6.4 PPM
        VVD 5.5 PPM

Thats basically an extra point every match for 0.5m

Why do you think Gomez will rotate with TAA rather than take Matip's place?

        Points per Match:

        VVD: 5.5
        TAA: 6.4

        Attacking returns:

        VVD: 8
        TAA: 14

        Creativity (for whatever it's worth):

        VVD: 111
        TAA: 837

VVD more dependent on clean sheets for points and with VAR coming, I'd rather have the more attacking wing back, even if he misses a few matches due to rotation. To each their own.

      6. JohnnyMagrinho
        7 years, 11 days ago

        A lot of response here.

I don't care what they got per match, I'm looking at what they got over the course of the whole season.

I don't get why people don't think Trent isn't a rotation risk. Of course he is. He will not repeat the form of last season. It was insane - it's not happening again.

Over the course of the season VVD scored more points. Thats... erm... thats a fact.
I'm talking about their prices THIS season. So VVD is 0.5m cheaper. Last season Trent was a steal. But he's 7m now... so he's less value for money. I mean... that's just simple maths, isn't it?

You lot keep contradicting yourselves. What do you want to look at? The points for the entire season, or what value you get based on their OLD value? It's nonsensical. VVD outscored TAA by QUITE SOME WAY last season and he's CHEAPER and is never ever going to miss a match.

Trent will be rotated at some point. If you always have Trent in your team or always VVD in your team, chances are VVD is going to bring you in more points across the entire season. And you're never going to captain Trent either, so that argument isn't one to be had.

You can't argue with points totals. You can't argue with the fact VVD is more nailed than Trent. I get that everyone loves TAA and he's a class player - he's not going to repeat what he did last season. Liverpool will probably get a similar amount of clean sheets. I'd say there's more data to suggest VVD will get closer to his score of last season than Trent will to his.

I just don't get why you all aren't bothered by the season total points. Trent played less than VVD. I get that... but.... he scored less points, too. I don't see Trent playing as much as you think he will, and for valid reasons. You're all getting ahead of yourselves. But then again, that is kind of to be expected on this site.

          This is hilarious.

Yes, of course it's true that we should ignore the fact that Trent will score more points on average per match because last season he wasn't nailed until the second half of the season.

It makes completely and utter sense.

          Not.

Just be careful with the assumptions that (a) VVD will repeat last year’s level of attacking returns and (b) that Trent won’t play more minutes than last season

VVD is ridiculous value, of that there is little doubt. But all three of them are. FPL have priced VVD 0.5 less for a reason though, for my money they are predicting a regression in those attacking returns.

Overall, of the three - VVD is the one I’m *ever so slightly* hesitant on... it was only as recently as December he was generally ridiculed as an FPL pick for only having one attacking return in two & a half seasons at that point

(I was going to sign him after he had hit woodwork v Cardiff & went close v arsenal but was generally shouted down) - his bizarre assist for Origi’s late late winner at anfield in the Derby was his second attacking return in two & a half years (!) at that point & then he went on the run...

So I wouldn’t be hugely suprised to see him go on another barren run for a while. If I could have 4 Liverpool slots he’d be the next one on the teamsheet after TAA, Robbo, Salah mind you.

I also think TAA is at most risk of rotation, but it’s a risk I’m (more than) prepared to take as last year showed that when they both play - TAA scores more than VVD

When TAA scores that first DFK (its coming) it’s going to be yet another string to that attacking bow of his... and he’s at the age where’d You’d expect him to be physically able for more games. Plus if he gets injured it’s an easy downgrade to VVD, whereas it’s tricky to go the either direction

But overall, all three are probably some of the best defenders ever to be available in the game, pity we can’t have 4 Liverpool slots

I think its mental going without Salah but I'm going without Sterling however.

I would change get in Salah and TAA, two most essential players in the game for me.

Downgrade Luiz and Duffy to upgrade Moutinho too.

I'm happy going without TAA. Two pool defence is more than enough cover, and Robertson just has no competition at LB.

I've tried to get Salah, but the sacrifice on the rest of the team is really hard to justify, for me.

        1. JohnnyMagrinho
          7 years, 11 days ago

Robertson and VVD are absolute no brainer's if you're going for Liverpool defence.

Trent is bizarrely favoured by far too many this season. I can see him disappointing many, many people on here.

If I'm being honest, my current draft which I am not even that fond of has sterling and Salah, and I feel I have a better midfield in Fraser and tielmans over zaha and moutiniho. I'd probably make firmino wilson and Kane Aguero if you are set on a big hitter frontline.

Or make firmino king and shove some funds in midfield .

are we sure Kelly is a starter? I went with Nobel for a 5M mid, he's on pens

personal preference to not buy a premium keeper and use the 1.5M elsewhere. For you the points you lose downgrading Ederson are made up with hvaing someone like Siggy instead of Brooks or Fraser instead of mcNeil.

      1. OleGGMU
        • 7 Years

Yeah I agree, not really sure about Kelly, pre-season most likely should give an indication of things.
Youre not alone there mate regarding not getting a premium gk at the start, but kinda wanna take an opposite route this season, went cheap in the gk and pushed premium fwds and bottomed in my ML so trying a different and perhaps more balanced? approach

the overall look of the team is what I went for as far as being able to nab both def and attacking points from pool +city with decent enough quality around that core
Def is a weak link but can be managed wiv a Mcneil/Perez downgrade

Thoughts on Freeman from Sheff U (they have the slightly better fixtures of the promoted clubs so tryna keep tabs on any potential gems)

Elmohamedy as a cheapie def option?

Last year seemed fairly arbitrary. Few outliers this year by the looks of it, though the balance between midfielders and forwards pricing seems a little better

I keep changing my team, chucking in Sterling or Aguero but without either i feel it’s more nailed on and balanced. Keep coming back to this line up. What you guys think?

    Ryan

    VVD Robbo Coleman Luiz

    Siggy Salah BSilva Fraser

    King Kane

The way I see it is Kane is completely nailed and another C option if Salah is playing a big team.

The majority of the team are on penalties or free kicks meaning goals or assists from set plays.

Stick in Sterling or Aguero not only do you risk rotation but you also lose 1m that would probably bring Siggy down to Zaha. Only thing is lack of city....

      Nice

Bilva doesn't really convince me. I suspect there's a good chance he'll lose the front spot and become Dilva quite regularly.

I'd be sorely tempted to get either Tielemans or Perez and either go KdB or Wilson up top to match your Fraser.

Agree on Kane. So long as he''s fit that price looks almost too good to ignore. Before injury in 22 he was returning very nicely last time.

You can't fit Aguero or Sterling in unless you take out Kane.

If you're happy with Kane then the team is fine, but personally I'd prefer one of the City boys (Sterling for me)

Couple of questions for you guys.

If you could only have one out of Salah & Sterling, who would you choose?
Sterling had better PPM than Salah last season, yet Salah is priced 0.5 more.

    A) Salah
    B) Sterling

Struggling to make a squad with both Salah & Sterling in it but think I'm getting closer.
Which team looks better to you? Both of them is 4-4-2.

    1)
    Pope (4.5)
    TAA ROBBO Digne Zinchenko (4.0)
Salah DE BRUYNE Siggy FRASER (4.5)
    VARDY King (4.5)

    2)
    Pope (4.5)
    Trent VVD Digne TAYLOR/TARGETT rotation
    Salah Sterling Siggy Maddison
    WILSON King

Been on option 1 for some time now. Really want KDB and Vardy. Whatcha think fellas?!

I also have this question, and currently with Fraser. I had Sigurdsson in my draft for a while, but I think people are mainly picking him because of set pieces, the introduction of VAR and a kind run of fixtures.

Sigurdsson is a patchy type of player who will frustrate but score decent hauls every 2-3 weeks. Fraser is a more consistent player, less explosive but created more big chances than anyone else in the league last season (including Hazard, Salah, Silva, etc.).

Above all there isn't much between them, but what tipped me over the edge was A) the 0.5m saved and B) the fact Bournemouth have a better strikeforce than Everton for Fraser to regularly supply (King and Wilson).

A Club Brugge fan who watched him week in, week out put some notes up on Twitter when we signed him...

      - Sometimes he’s a bit clunky.
      - His hold-up play is fantastic.
      - Amazing strength.
      - He’s really fast, despite being 6ft 3.
      - Still has a lot of potential.
      - Can lose his temper easily.

The FFS crowd lost patience with Maddison last year as they have done with players like Sigurdsson, Eriksen, de Bruyne etc. They aren't form/fixtures dependent as a large number of their goal contributions are from set-plays and long range which isn't consistent week in-week out or with opponents but is generally consistent season in-season out. You have to keep players like him for long periods to reap rewards, not the FFS type.

Sterling had higher PPM than Salah last season.
You could say that Salah underperformed a little bit. But feels like Sterling can improve a lot more under Pep. He's been scoring several hat tricks lately. Both for his City and for England.

He's the better footballer. In a team that' more built around him.
Won't be rotated/miss anywhere near as many games.
Has more goals in his game then Sterling.
Goals seem to come from the usual suspects at Liverpool whereas with City they're more spread out.
Highest scoring player for last two seasons running.
He could easily break 300 again this season and no-one would bat an eye, but we would all be quite impressed if Sterling did anywhere near what he achieved last season.
Salah scored 25 points more than Sterling last season so that's a difference of 50 if two teams captained both of them for the entirety of the season.

Seems like FPL suicide but I am tempted to go without Salah and Sterling. The more i look at the Kane/Auba captaincy rotation early on, the more it appeals. Just look at them fixtures.

AVL, BUR, NEW, TOT, CRY, AVL, SOT, BOU, WAT, SHU, CRY, WOL, SHU, SOT, BOU, BHA, BUR

This pairing comes in at 2.5m less. You can then get all three Liverpool defenders to try and compensate for not owning Salah and KDB and B.Silva to try and cover City.

                Mental comment.

They're 7, 7, and 6.5m. How much more do you want them to cost?

This is insane. I swear I'm in a dream world where everyone else is utterly mad.

TAA and Robertson are just not going to repeat what they did last year. It was insane. It was glorious. It was a one off. It's so unlikely to be repeated. TAA has had his price increased massively. It's an absurd price hike.

I just can't wait to come back to this place in a couple of months to see all the comments about how much of a fraud Trent is, or how Robbo is failing to impress.

These forums are great. The flippant are at it already. Weeks before the season has even begun.

Forgive me, but are Salah and Sterling not the most expensive players in the game?

The likelihood of them managing to obtain such ridiculous points totals is rather low. You can't just expect it to happen again every season, can you?

I do think Aguero should be 11m rather than 12m, though. I'll concede that.

    2. JohnnyMagrinho
      7 years, 11 days ago

I'd have a look at what kind of points those players got last season and go from there.

It's not the most reliable way to predict future points scoring, but its a good indicator as to what you'd be missing out on and what you could probably expect to get in return.

Personally I think Kane is done. Think he's peaked and it's all downhill from here. If he doesn't leave Spurs at some point this season he'll have screwed his big money move away.

He's a very simple footballer. Yes he has the odd long range pass in his game but it's not enough. Isn't Auba like 30 or 31 now too? Hmm.

Hmmmm, just noticed an interesting stat. Moura got 2000ish mins but 14 cleansheets.

Could just be a coincidence but maybe he actually helps defending from the front? Or pushes other teams back due to his pace?

Extrapolating out to a full season of 3000+ minutes that would be 21 CS ie Liverpool/City level.

Everyone loves a Spurs theory so here is the Moura Theory: Lucas Moura improves the Spurs defence!

More likely the latter. If that is the case, which Spurs defender would you choose, if any?

Fullback would be ideal but always rotated, partial to Vertonghen and had Toby A briefly at the end of a season which was also good. For GW1 probably Trippier but long term Vert.

Extra points for goal & cs

Probably be 5 goals behind but with 5-10 more assists. Overall 30+ points higher

Young Sterling seems to have got the hang of it, now. 🙂
