The third instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup takes place today.

Following the success of the first two competitions in February and November 2018, which featured around 80 players and raised over £2,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and for Campaign Against Living Miserably, this time we’ll be raising money for the Stroke Association.

Most of you will know that Joe, a much-loved member of FFS and the wider Fantasy Football community, recently suffered a bleed on his brain. Thankfully, after a fairly hellish month, he is gradually returning to normal.

The Charity Cup will be held this morning at Whittington Park Astro Pitch in London linked heremeeting at 9:15 am to finalise teams etc.

The full address is Holloway Road, Islington, London N19 4RS. The closest Tube station is Archway on the Northern Line (8min walk) and the closest London Overground station is Upper Holloway (2min walk).

As always, the precise format (including squad sizes) will depend on numbers but everyone will get decent game-time in a 7 or 8 aside format.

This is real-life football (not an FPL online cup!) with players of all ages, fitness and abilities very welcome.

As with previous tournaments, we’ll be organising players into squads, so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to invite guest players to boost the numbers.

If you would like to take part please email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com with your contact details and you will be added to the WhatsApp group for further information (unless you state that you would rather receive information by separate email only).

Even if you are not able to play, please donate to the Stroke Association at the Just Giving page which is linked here.

    Morning,

I have seen alot of love for Everton defence but looking at stats from last season arguably the best defence was Liverpool and City.

Anyone thinking of doing a twin double up of 2 defenders from both Liverpool and City?

If anyone is what combinations are the best or is this a high risk strategy.

The problem is the best attacks were pool and city too and I want 2 slots for the city attack especially

EVE weakened by Gueye going,Keane inj,Mina in the dock and Zouma gone.
In draft formats Coleman and digne are gold but not for me at start of top
Yes I'd go van + robbo plus Laporte and zinky

Ederson is easy route to MCI defence. Currently on TAA, VvD, Ederson, Laporte (/Zinch perhaps) + Luiz and Cathcart.

I will have to start with gk in every match 😉 and early Burnley fixtures are sour. So Pope is wait and see for me. Ryan just not good enough.

And I prefer Ederson + Pereyra over Ryan + Siggy, even without that handy .5 million, which makes it even nicer.

Oh sure. Many if not most have 3 defenders from City and Pool. My GK and back 4 are all from those 2 clubs.
There are differing views about the Everton defence. I don't have as much faith as some, nor do I agree that it's worth getting Digne for his attacking potential alone, but you will see those views.

I have seen alot of template drafts atm with 2 pool 1 city and 1 Everton. So I guess it's just looking at it from another angle and trying tonight a slight differential.

Even I have fallen into the trap of Digne love but I guess we all have alot of tinkering to do.

I know doing 2 city defence reduces attacking options but baring sterling and bilva double up I don't see another viable pairing for the start.

      Ederson
      Zinky, TAA, Robbo, Digne, Coleman
      Salah, Sterling, Perez, Robinson
      Vardy

Would get you there - I’m thinking Henderson/Laporte/6.0 instead of Ederson/Zink/Robinson though

With a slightly cheaper back 5 I can do that with Kane up top.

Had a slight tweak and am currently here:

            Foster
            TAA, VVD, Stones, Zinchenko, Zouma
            Salah, Sterling, Zaha, Robinson
            Kane

I just think it’s a shame for an FPL team not to include Sir Robbo - the literal best defender to ever play the game for only 7.0 🙂

Will he significantly outscore VVD? Worth losing Salah to add him? Shame we can't have 4 Reds, basically!

Every man and his dog would have at least 4 in that case. Add Mane, Alisson and Firmino also 😉 Would be far too easy.

Good team. I have not seen many with a good balance when Kane Salah and sterling are in.

I just think having a Leicester midfielder is key. Tileman or Perez. Rodgers is an attacking manager

Yes, Zaha and Robinson are losable. Might well get Maddy, Perez, Tielemans or even 2 of them. Plenty tweaking to go yet, but the core hasn't changed.

For the first time I had an actual look at Everton's fixtures rather than just seeing a sea of blue fixtures

I can actually see a scenario where they have 0-1 clean sheets after those opening 5 games

True, tbh even before they'd lost the defence and possibly Gueye I wouldn't be too convinced they were gonna keep clean sheets

It is of course a possibility

Siggy record in the same games last year was also interesting:

      cpl 0G 0A
      WAT 0G 0A
      WOL 0G 0A
      bou 0G 0A

I love the stat on both Coleman & Digne scoring 169 points year to date

    Ederson (Button)
    Walker, TAA, Robertson, lascelles, (lundstram)
    Salah, Sterling, Zara, Perez, (Dendoncker)
    Wilson, deulofeu, (Greenwood)
Bench incredibly weak I know and Lascelles could be any 4.5 defender.

Fairly solid. obvs monitor zaha and where he goes. Im not a fan of a starting 4.5 in defence with the quality this year but thats my opinion

I wouldn't change it too much, Wilson is the one to have from Bournemouth. If anything I would go Robbo to VVD and Walker to Zinchenko and that should give you enough cash to upgrade Lascelles

Any 3-4-3 gamblers out there? Early WC on the cards with Sane to Son and Lucas to best 6.5. Also will try and get the standout Chelsea foward.

    Pope
    TAA / Zinchenko / Coleman
    Salah / KDB / Sane / Lucas
    Lazazette / Deulofeu / Origi

    Button / Diop / Lundstram / Dendonker

On the surface it does seem madness to triple up on a team like Sheff United, but look closer and see something like the best cheap goalie and 2 starting subs. It's simply a matter of value; it doesn't weaken your squad.

Morning everyone. I’ve been on this team for 24 hours and I really like it. Siggy can become Zaha if he moves to Everton which will give me 1m to upgrade Adam Smith. What do you think?

Rotations are only feasible if both are nailed on to start.

      It’s an interesting point

I was positive on sheff utd’s defensive prospects though given they only conceded 41 goals (particularly at home they were very solid)

If Robinson starts, he is a way better pick than either of the other two. Not saying he's a better player, but he's a goal-scoring forward - Meyer and Ceballos are more creative types, but neither are historically known to have got many assists

I love your confidence but......there is a world of difference between the EFL and the FPL. Good manager or not FPL teams will soon work out how to play against you. You need a good start with a couple wins that boosts the player morale. Get a bad start and I fear a long season.

I have been “stuck” on a team for a couple of weeks (fluid 3-5-2 or 4-4-2) depending on fixtures:

    Pope (button)
    TAA VVD Digne (*Diop* Lundstram)
    Salah sterling Fraser siggy *dendoncker*
    Wilson deulofeu (Greenwood)

    Is the following any better:

Digne, Sterling, Greenwood to Coleman, KDB, Jimenez

Formation would then be 3-4-3 with diop, lundstram and donkey on the bench. Salah pretty much perma captain. I feel like the second option will score more points. Any thoughts??

    1. Our Tiny Windows
      • 10 Years

I think it is just about better. Lots of people think Coleman Digne are equal. KDB will overform this season and I think sterling slightly underperform for his price. Jiminez proven over greenwood.

        • 16 Years

The more KDB can play, the better things will be for Sterling imo

KDB is a specialist (in fact probably *the* specialist in the league) in assists - Sterling will have chances put on a plate for him every game he plays

I almost never start a season without aguero, and worry sterling will haul and I will miss out, but then Jimenez was gold last year and I feel that he can compensate for points missed for Sterling to KDB when you consider he is replacing diop or dendoncker

          Or could do:

          Digne, Salah, siggy, Greenwood

          To

          Coleman, mane, Perez, Jimenez

That may be a switch to make once mane back 100% after AFCON

    How is this team looking?

    Pope, (Button)
Robertson, Walker, Coleman, Adam Smith, (Kelly)
    Salah, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Wijnaldum, (Dendoncker)
    Kane, King, (Greenwood)

OK except for Wijnaldum, is it in budget ?

Wij could be a great early differential, steal at the price but risky use of pool asset.

His stats are not bad, over 100 points in 3 out of last 4 seasons. When used as an attacking player he gets good goals and assists for his price. The big drawback is the opportunity to get a big gun pool asset.

I’m getting deja bvu - did we not discuss this yesterday 🙂

The FFS group think is to avoid back 5’s like the plague

Check the poll on the right

        2000 members polled, 92% won’t be playing a back 5

Earlier in the week before they reset it... it was at nearly 8000 members polled and 91% were against a back 5

I’m sure someone will emerge as value but at this stage it’s impossible to predict with assets largely unproven particularly at this level. Got my eye on Norwood if he is on pens and monopoly of set-pieces. I’m sure one of the 6.0-6.5 striker options will do well with time

Matt Targett could be the best of the 4.5 defs. Good fixtures and sweet left foot

Pukki's not getting 15 goals and I wouldn't be so confident of 10+ just because he's the only Norwich forward.

Hey community, what's your thoughts on my team, bench looks week but hoping sale of assets later down line GW4+ first real time playing

    Dea gea
    Boly, van dijk, kolasinac
    Lucas, martial, Pedro, sterling
    Jota, Lacazette, Kane

    Bench
    button, Kelly, Simpson, guendouzi

Thanks for advice, hoping Pedro gets ST role from preseason game time and same with martial .. best viewed after GW2 so maybe replace 1 for their first game?

Don't think you can roll Lucas, Martial, Pedro and Lacs with no bench. You need two nailed on bench players with that lot.

Couple more nailed options at 4.5 than Guendouzi

    Morning all

    Considering this first XI

    Foster
    Coleman VVD Laporte Dunk
    Sterling Salah Fraser Perez
    Kane Origi

    Subs
    Button Donkey Greenwood Lundstram

Sterling Salah combo looks tasty, but too much ? Kane has to break his August FPL hoodoo against AVL ?

    Thoughts

      I’m on the Salah/Sterling combo

How many games do you think that Origi will have at start of the season then

      Looks good

I like the fact that Greenwood could be a breakthrough player this season so once the big three for Pool are fully functioning I should be able to interchange and sell Origi at a profit......

I’m really warming to the idea of having Azpi in my team as a set and forgot, should I....

    A) Squeeze him in for GW1

    B) Plan to get him in for GW3

    C) Don’t bother, he won’t be good value

    1. Helia

I think he will be a decent option. I’ve considered him but am also considering Zouma gw3 if he were to nail a spot down.

He's always dependable. I'm looking to see if Alonso and/or Zouma are nailed. If there are doubts, I'll settle on Azpili.

    Morning Guys

    Which

    4.0/4.5m DFs
    6.0/6.5 STs

have you got in your teams for the first few GWs of the season

    Any understanding would be welcomed

No certain starters among 4m defs.
No good options among 4.5 defs.
No good options among 6m strs
6.5 strikers - now we start to see something. I'm on Jota.

Agree with all of this. If you're going to have a bench defender I'd go 4.0 and save the money.

Am on Jota up front too. Only thing making me nervous is the rumours of the new striker coming in. King a good option too

Somebody here reckoned the new striker is more likely to threaten Jimenez, who needs rest anyway. 6.5m strikers are not season-keepers anyway, so we'll see.

He's this weekend's flavour on here. I suspect he'll start most games on the bench, in which case if he's in your squad he's good for 1 or 0 points.
