The third instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup takes place today.

Following the success of the first two competitions in February and November 2018, which featured around 80 players and raised over £2,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and for Campaign Against Living Miserably, this time we’ll be raising money for the Stroke Association.

Most of you will know that Joe, a much-loved member of FFS and the wider Fantasy Football community, recently suffered a bleed on his brain. Thankfully, after a fairly hellish month, he is gradually returning to normal.

The Charity Cup will be held this morning at Whittington Park Astro Pitch in London linked heremeeting at 9:15 am to finalise teams etc.

The full address is Holloway Road, Islington, London N19 4RS. The closest Tube station is Archway on the Northern Line (8min walk) and the closest London Overground station is Upper Holloway (2min walk).

As always, the precise format (including squad sizes) will depend on numbers but everyone will get decent game-time in a 7 or 8 aside format.

This is real-life football (not an FPL online cup!) with players of all ages, fitness and abilities very welcome.

As with previous tournaments, we’ll be organising players into squads, so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to invite guest players to boost the numbers.

If you would like to take part please email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com with your contact details and you will be added to the WhatsApp group for further information (unless you state that you would rather receive information by separate email only).

Even if you are not able to play, please donate to the Stroke Association at the Just Giving page which is linked here.

Not too sure which to pick, I'm going back and forth between the two.

    A) De Bruyne + Rashford

Afternoon gentlemen!! Pickford and Stekenburg seem to have made it into my team overnight from Ryan and Button, meant Vardy to Wilson! So the question is lads which is the best combo to start the season.....
A- Ryan or other 4.5, Button and Vardy
    Or
    B- Pickford, Steklenburg and Wilson

    1. Kimmich

Quite a few possibilities - waiting to see how they line up myself. Their team is increasingly tough to pick. They also seem to be in the market for another couple of players at least.

    A) Laporte + Sterling (4-4-2)

    Costs exactly the same

  10. Teror

For those going with a budget, who've you picked and what's your reasoning?

I've gone with Jota because he's nabbed a few goals in pre-season – one of them being in a Europa League qualifier, which actually counts for something and there's a few more of those to come for Wolves, so he should be sharper going into the season. I considered King but I've got Wilson and think I should probably spread the risk rather than doubling up on players from lesser sides.

DCL because they don't have anyone else other than Tosun whom I don't think Silva likes. Fixtures are great and there's rumours that they send Tosun the other way if they sign Zaha. There are rumours of the signing Moise Kean but if they do I'll just get Wesley

    What do you guys reckon?

    Krul

Bench - Button, Greenwood, Dendonker, Hayden

Krul is a terrible choice considering the other 4.5s on offer and I think AWBs appeal is gone now that he's not dirt cheap. But aide from that you've got nice safe picks that no one can really quarrel with.

not sure about the Krul pick
      Wan-Bissaka is a punt, especially for GW1

At the moment, otamendi is his only competition who is still on holiday. Stones will start the season alongside Laporte so it's his place to lose.

Zinkchenko on the other is a FT waiting to happen

Like Lacazette in my team. Arsenal attack could be fire just can't nail final defensive places. 4.5 keepers don't stand out to be but can't stretch to Ederson. opinions appreciated.
    X
    TAA, X, X, Taylor
    Salah, Sterling, Perez
    Lacazette, King, Jota
    4.0, Dendoncker, Stephens, Diop

    A) Lloris, Coleman, VVD/Laporte
    B) 4.5, VVD, Laporte (looks best but no decent 4.5 goalies)
    C) Ederson, 5.5, Digne

    King Vardy Deulofeu.

    King, Kane

Looks good. The only concern is that all your money is invested in the starting 11
and your bench is going to be weak with a few if them probably benchwarmers for their clubs. If any of your team get injured or rotated your going to be fielding 9/10 players each week.

    Controversial Chelse line-up for Reading:

Caballero, Zappacosta, Christensen, Tomori, Alonso, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Pulisic, Barkley, Kenedy, Giroud.

Was hoping for more Zouma 🙁

Zouma not playing is a good thing in this lineup, this is clearly the ‘B’ team apart from Pulisic and maybe Barkley

... and maybe Giroud and Alonso.

No Emerson is easily first choice left back, I don’t expect Giroud to start many games either

            We’ll see. Good luck.

Only reason Pulisic is starting is we only have 3 available wingers, so one of the ‘first choice’ wingers would have to start the game. Barkley starting is the interesting one

        Nevermind. Thought that was formation

Looks like the 2nd team bar Pulisic.

    A - Brooks + Perez + D.Jota
    B - Fraser + Moutinho + King

Wonder how long it will take for Hendo to get added. Hopefully 4.5m.

Thinking Hendo, KDB over Ederson, Bilva

Last few tinkers, fairly settled now just a two spots really to figure out

    Pope
    TAA Coleman VVD 5.5
    Eriksen Salah Sterling Gross
    Wilson 6.0

Naturally the 5.5 should be a city or spurs defender, but not sure who best as not keen on Zinchenko

The 6.0 striker is another tough one, Wesley, Adams or DCL

I could go for a 5m def or two rotating 4.5 def to open up the 6.5 strikers to give me more options, thoughts?

I'd go for a 6.5 in either Jota or Delu/Deeney and then maybe JOC and Diop or something

5m defender is the safest bet

    Early Wildcard:

Is Wildcarding GW3 a viable strategy? Anyone willing to share their GW 1-2 team?

Considering going without City players due to the following factors:

    - Pep Roulette
    - Unsure of Sterling as Number 9
    - high price with the lack of one option standing out (except Sterling)
    - fixtures of GW1-2 could be better; i cant see two clean sheets happening

With that in mind my GW1-2 team:

    Henderson
    TAA-Digne-KwP
    Groß-Fraser-Salah-Perez
    Kane-Aubameyang-Origi

    Button Kelly Lundstram Norwood

Comments on that strategy would be appreciated!

Looks a decent team with decent fixtures but not keen myself on setting up for a wildcard when I may not want to. Would prefer to just set up a team for first few weeks and wc when I feel it's right

I wouldn't get both KWP and Origi. Maybe just one of them at a stretch. And your Sterling argument should apply to Spurs players more than City as they are the worse team yet you still have 2 Spurs.

Gross is an interesting one. He's currently in my team too but I don't think I'm totally convinced. Just doesn't take enough shots for me.

I'm a fan of the early wc, catching the price risers early on can be a huge benefit...

I`m understand your reasoning for going City-less for 1-2 gameweeks, but prefer to Wildcard after 4 gameweeks, prior to Gameweek 5 - you will have enough info about Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs which you can ignore if build a team for first 4 gameweeks. Also 2 gameweeks is just not enough clear info about all teams, for me better to look on 1-4 gameweeks as a mini-season and WC after.

    A) Kane Perez
    B) Vardy and Son (GW3)

    What to do?
