The third instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup takes place today.

Following the success of the first two competitions in February and November 2018, which featured around 80 players and raised over £2,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and for Campaign Against Living Miserably, this time we’ll be raising money for the Stroke Association.

Most of you will know that Joe, a much-loved member of FFS and the wider Fantasy Football community, recently suffered a bleed on his brain. Thankfully, after a fairly hellish month, he is gradually returning to normal.

The Charity Cup will be held this morning at Whittington Park Astro Pitch in London linked here, meeting at 9:15 am to finalise teams etc.

The full address is Holloway Road, Islington, London N19 4RS. The closest Tube station is Archway on the Northern Line (8min walk) and the closest London Overground station is Upper Holloway (2min walk).

As always, the precise format (including squad sizes) will depend on numbers but everyone will get decent game-time in a 7 or 8 aside format.

This is real-life football (not an FPL online cup!) with players of all ages, fitness and abilities very welcome.

As with previous tournaments, we’ll be organising players into squads, so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to invite guest players to boost the numbers.

If you would like to take part please email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com with your contact details and you will be added to the WhatsApp group for further information (unless you state that you would rather receive information by separate email only).

Even if you are not able to play, please donate to the Stroke Association at the Just Giving page which is linked here.

    Hello experts,

Thoughts on the strategy of keeping 1.5m ITB for GW2 with the draft team below?

It has worked well for me in the past as it gives decent flexibility for GW2, depending on what teams/players show good form early doors

    E.g

    Rich/Siggy could become KDB
    Wilson could become Vardy
    Diop could become Digne
    Lundstrom could become Coleman
    King could become Haller
    Etc

    You get the picture....

    98.5m:

    Ryan 4.0m
    VVD Robertson Laporte (Diop Lundstrom)
    Salah Rich Siggy Fraser Tielmans
    Wilson King Greenwood

I'm aware of the lack of city attack. The team above is just to get out of the blocks and will probably wild card about GW6

Triple Bourne and double Everton is crazy. They won't batter us ffs haha. King to Jota or Delu and Rich to Bilva maybe?

Thanks. I know. It looks daft. Still, outside of the top 6 cherries scored more than anyone. Siggy was one of the top miss last season and Rich tends to start well. This is not a season team, more to get up and running before probably getting sterling

One is a 4.0m defender who everyone is going for. Other is a OOP 5.5m mid as a punt (also enabler) and not sure on deno yet but for 4.5m he may get lots of bonuses and Cs at home ;).

Hi all, just created my own basic formula earlier this morning in attempt to predict attacking returns for attacking players this season.

This formula simply involves me multiplying a players Expected Goals per 90 mins last season by 4 or 5, (dependant on whether they are a midfielder or forward) multiplying their Expected Assists per 90 mins last season by 3 and then adding the pair together.

Essentially the number I calculated for each player was their Expected Points Per 90 Minutes last season from goals and assists alone.

I personally feel that these statistics are handy for those who want an analytical method of predicting an attacking players points for next season.

However, these stats are of course limited. They don't include Bonus Points, clean sheet points for mids, how nailed a player is, pre-season form, fixture difficulty, new managers and how they will be effected by new signings at the club, so not even I will be picking a team based solely on these stats.

I understand that many of you probably won't find these numbers of any use but I used my formula to calculate the Expected Points from Goals and Assists Alone Last Season for the main attacking assets that people are considering this season. If any of you want the rating of a player that isn't on this list feel free to comment and I'll try to find it for you.

    Salah: 3.87
    Sterling: 3.6
    Aubameyang: 3.56
    Aguero: 3.41
    Vardy: 3.03
    Giroud: 3.02
    Kane: 2.91
    Wilson: 2.91
    Mane: 2.9
    Sane: 2.87
    Pogba 2.8

    Ings: 2.66
    David Silva: 2.61
    de Bruyne: 2.56
    Firmino: 2.54
    Lukaku: 2.54
    Mkhitaryan: 2.5
    Barnes: 2.42
    Chicharito: 2.36
    Son: 2.36
    Rashford: 2.36
    Sigurdsson: 2.32
    Jimenez: 2.24
    Lacazette: 2.17
    Richarlison: 2.11
    Bernardo Silva: 2.11
    Pedro: 2.1
    Deulofeu: 2.07
    King: 2.03
    Fraser: 2.03
    Gray: 1.98
    Deeney: 1.95

    Wood: 1.67
    Yarmolenko: 1.67
    Redmond: 1.55
    Calvert-Lewin: 1.52
    Dendonker: 1.49
    Milivojevic: 1.49
    Doucoure: 1.48
    Tielemens: 1.48
    Zaha: 1.43
    Felipe Anderson: 1.4
    Gudmundsson: 1.27

    Lanzini: 1.11
    McNeil: 1.07
    Townsend: 1.03
    Will Hughes: 0.94
    Kovacic: 0.8

Here are some players that played for different clubs that I was able to gather data on from last season (I definitely would be cautious about taking much info from these stats as most of these players will be playing in different formations, positions and teammates as well as against different opponents to last season)

    Pepe: 3.66
    Pulisic: 3.42
    Haller: 3.18
    Joelinton: 2.14

    Rodri: 0.6

Trossard, Martial, Ings, and maybe even Pérez all have some uncertainty about their situations; I would say ditch all but maybe Pérez. The rewards for being the first on those kinds of players are far outweighed by the risks. Falling behind early is the Worst. Put those guys on your watchlist and switch to players with more security.

Is there any love for Joel matip? 5.5 Liverpool enabler. Joe Gomez is clearly "the plan" but he's young and Klopp is patient. Matip won't lose his place without a blunder. He had a fantastic season and that thats the way Klopp is. Free up that million compared to VVD before a possible early wildcard. There is no reason why he should lose his place. Gomez will give a trent a rest at right back the odd time but I think its those 2 are the best 2 Liverpool optons. Have I drank too much? (Liverpool fan)

Yeah just noticed they have another bad match-up at GW6, probably going to replace one of them (Guilbert) with another defender with favorable matchups GW1 and GW6

I’m starting with Cathcart for the opening game then switching to Fredericks GW2 with my FT. This could also apply to you.

I mean if Cathcart looks decent then I’ll keep him, but I just have a good feeling about Fredericks. He’s very attack minded.

In which case I would just go fredericks from the start and take the pain in gw1 or bench him. Watford concede in gw1 and it seems a massive waist of a precious FT

I think it is a big key to doing well. I'd never finished inside 100k until last season (17k) and much of it was down to treating transfers with more respect!

I’m your classic rage transfer guy and then instantly regret it as soon as it’s done.
I wish there was like a time out option on FPL where it stops you from touching your team until 1 hour before deadline. I’d use it every time. 🙂

I’ve posted my current draft somewhere above he’s in my 5 man midfield. Like you say he’s been involved in pre season 3 assists in one game some good fixtures to start and enough players in the price bracket if he doesn’t work out. Yarmolenko another of interest after the city game.

    Two Questions for you

If you had to have a Burnley DF in your team who would you have?

    &

If you had to double up who would you have

    Leicester (Vardy/Perez)

    or

    Bournemouth (Wilson/Fraser)

Any ideas would be welcomed and appreciated
