The third instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup takes place today.

Following the success of the first two competitions in February and November 2018, which featured around 80 players and raised over £2,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and for Campaign Against Living Miserably, this time we’ll be raising money for the Stroke Association.

Most of you will know that Joe, a much-loved member of FFS and the wider Fantasy Football community, recently suffered a bleed on his brain. Thankfully, after a fairly hellish month, he is gradually returning to normal.

The Charity Cup will be held this morning at Whittington Park Astro Pitch in London linked here, meeting at 9:15 am to finalise teams etc.

The full address is Holloway Road, Islington, London N19 4RS. The closest Tube station is Archway on the Northern Line (8min walk) and the closest London Overground station is Upper Holloway (2min walk).

As always, the precise format (including squad sizes) will depend on numbers but everyone will get decent game-time in a 7 or 8 aside format.

This is real-life football (not an FPL online cup!) with players of all ages, fitness and abilities very welcome.

As with previous tournaments, we’ll be organising players into squads, so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to invite guest players to boost the numbers.

If you would like to take part please email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com with your contact details and you will be added to the WhatsApp group for further information (unless you state that you would rather receive information by separate email only).

Even if you are not able to play, please donate to the Stroke Association at the Just Giving page which is linked here.

Just a quick A or B if anyone can help:

    A) Lloris, Laporte, Perez
    B) Pope, Dunk (or any 4.5), KDB

A is more balanced, but would really like to get KDB in (could switch to Son etc) later on. Would also make it easier to get a premium forward if one becomes essential.

    Rest of the team is:

    ______

    TAA VVD Divine Zinch ______

    Salah Sterling ______

    Wilson King

    Button Dendoncker Greenwood Stephens

    Thanks for any input.

I know I'm not exactly in a position to give advice but... avoid Pereyra at all costs. He's the definition of a trap. He'll get double digits one game, and then do nothing for about 7 games in a row.

Got suckered in by him last season, never again.

    I dislike my unsexy team:

    Ederson / Button
    TAA, VvD, Laporte, Luiz, Cathcart
Salah, Fraser, Pereyra, McGinn / Dendo
    Auba, King, Ings

    GW1 C Salah, Luiz benched, 4-3-3
    GW2 C Auba, Ings benched 4-4-2
    GW3 C Salah, Auba + Fraser out (Sterling/Son in, perhaps -4)

GW 2 captaincy solved, but this is dull team imo. Yet I have problems to improve it. Opinions?

City has away match Gw1 and then Spurs. Therefore I prefer Auba (new, BUR) over Sterling (whu, TOT).

Yes, having pretty solid defence and playing fw:s does cost something. Ings does come with injury risk but is easy to downgrade to a fodder.

    Thoughts on this lot?

    Pickford/Ryan

    TAA/VVD/Laporte/Coleman/Kelly

    Salah/KDB/Ayoze/Fraser/Dendoncker

    Vardy/King/Greenwood

    Can see playing a lot of 4 - 4 - 2

Do you think we are underestimating the introduction of VAR into FPL?

People give some stats about Bundesliga and La Liga how the number of penalties didn't increase with VAR, but could that be because the refs in those leagues are good, while the refs in PL are pretty bad considering the magnitude of the competition

That said, I'm genuinely confused by the popularity of Wilson over King who is a pen taker. Plus he's 1.5 mil more expensive!
