Liverpool take on Manchester City in the Community Shield this afternoon and the match could be as big a signpost as any as to how the two sides will line up in Gameweek 1.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) both make their first starts of pre-season for the Reds and are joined by Divock Origi (£5.5m) in the front three.

Sadio Mane (£11.5m) is yet to return following his involvement with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Alisson (£6.0m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.0m), Andrew Robertson (£7.0m) and Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) all unsurprisingly feature in the Liverpool backline but Joe Gomez (£5.5m) has been given the nod over Joel Matip (£5.5m) to partner van Dijk at centre-half.

James Milner (£5.5m) is ruled out as a precaution due to a tight muscle.

There are no huge shocks in the Manchester City starting XI, with Aymeric Laporte (£6.5m) missing out through injury as expected.

Sergio Aguero (£12.0m), Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) and Ederson (£6.0m) are only among the substitutes after their late return from the Copa America.

Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) again leads the line for the Citizens and will be flanked by Leroy Sane (£9.5m) and Bernardo Silva (£8.0m).

Kevin De Bruyne (£9.5m) is part of City’s central midfield three, while Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.5m) starts again at left-back.

Kick-off at Wembley is at 15:00 BST.

All those first half Sterling knee-jerkers quiet now

The important thing is to get the chances, missing chances is not as important. Having Sterling is not a kneejerk anyway, it's just the sensible thing to do.

RMT please you lovely folks - thinking of Tielemans over Perez, is Perez expected to play further forward?

    Ryan-Heaton
    VvD-TAA-AWB-Zinchenko-Lundstram
    Salah-Sterling-Bilva-Perez-McGinn
    Barnes-Jimenez-Adams

    Cheers!

No. I liken it to Bernardo Silva vs Sterling. Except they're the same price.

      Just pick Perez.

He doesn’t need to be a good finisher. He gets so many chances every game that he only needs to convert a couple of them for a monster haul. By the way, he’s not that bad a finisher if you look at last seasons stats.

    4. Tsparkes10

      Good finisher just inconsistent

      1. BrutalLogiC
        • 10 Years
        6 years, 8 months ago

surely being an inconsistent good finisher means he's not a good finisher

definition of a good finisher has got to reasonably mean that he can consistently finish well!

He was looking to give Walker the tap-in and when VVD covered that option, he just froze.

Needs to be more decisive he's still got those shaky moments in him

    A/ Kane ( won't cap) + Trossard + 4.5 bench fodder ( i hv XI starters)
    B/ Eriksen + Murray + Wesley ( more options )

I'm on B at the moment

Eriksen is out of favour it seems. Murray is 35. Wesley in his first PL season. Enough said really.

Nothing said really here , Murray and Wesley will be in every team by gw3
Spurs scoring every gw except at the Etihad , so which mid to own ?

I personally have Kane. Also Moura a good punt for the first 3 GWs or son when he returns I owned eriksen last season and he was frustrating playing a deeper role. I get the hype around Wesley but Murray? Really?
