There were nine Premier League manager press conferences held on Thursday ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The headline team news came from Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp provided fairly positive news on Sadio Mane (£11.5m) ahead of Friday’s encounter with Norwich City.

Klopp said:

Looks fit. Yesterday was his first session with the team. Yesterday now with the team first time, looks absolutely OK, in good spirits. Yes he’s an option, but we will see.

The Reds’ boss said of James Milner (£5.5m):

Millie trained yesterday with the team, 100%. He will be fine.

The Reds opponents have problems at centre-half, with stoppers Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose (£4.5m) sidelined for Gameweek 1.

Defensive midfielders Alex Tettey and Ibrahim Amadou (both £4.5m) are also unavailable for tomorrow’s encounter.

On the subject of newly promoted clubs, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder revealed a clean bill of health at today’s presser.

Dean Smith only ruled out James Chester (£4.5m), meanwhile, as Villa prepare to take on Spurs.

Robbie Brady (£5.5m) looks set to miss out for Burnley against Southampton, whose manager Ralph Hasenhuttl didn’t disclose any injury concerns.

Gerard Deulofeu (£6.5m) was passed fit by Javi Gracia but Danny Welbeck (£6.0m) won’t be ready to feature against Brighton.

The Seagulls will be without Jose Izquierdo (£5.5m) and Yves Bissouma (£5.0m).

Mark Noble (£5.0m) hasn’t recovered from a dead leg in time to face Manchester City but Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) is fit to face the reigning champions.

We’ll have updates on Friday’s 11 press conferences in advance of the 19:00 BST deadline.

    1) Wilson, Wood, Jim (433)
    2) King, Vardy, Jota (433)
    3) Wilson, Vardy, Greenwood (442, and upgrade Robinson to 6.0mid)

    Fairly template otherwise.

    1. Is it a bad choice to pick popular players as bench fodders like Button and Grenwood due to risk for loosing value? Then you are almost stuck with them.

    2. Best option.

    A. Ryan & Button with Vertongen/Rose
    or
    B. Ryan & Heaton (rotation) with Zouma

Fixtures/Kane's usual slow start. I personally think Kane will be fast out the blocks this year having had a full pre-season and not really many games during the break.

Agree. I fancy Sheffield United to take a point from the game in 1-1 draw. Villa away in front of a 40k crowd will not be easy and transfers galore will be active, as Man City role into town. I remember folk saying Palace would smash Huddersfield a couple of seasons ago and Town won 3-0

It's unbelievable how many people are neglecting their benches. First time in my years here I have seen so many teams with the likes of greenwood, rico, lundstrum. Playing a risky game relying on the likes of pep to field a consistent team. A crisis is a couple of rotations/injuries away.

Maybe make a mark on a wall each time?

Say in sets of 5 so they are easier to tally up later.

I think it's fine if you're planning an early wildcard. If you're thinking longer term, then it's just transfers waiting to happen.

I think you need at least one bench player nailed. After that Greenwood etc is fine.

Going to leave this here, have a cigarette and come back to some genius replies (I thank you all in advance for them). I KNOW there's no Salah but ANY other advice is most welcome...

    Allison/ Button
    Zinch/ Verts/ VVD/ Coleman/ Zouma
    Sterling/ Siggy/ Bilva/ Barkley/ Dendonker
    Kane/ Wilson/ Wickham

I think having no liverpool attackers is madness personally.

Just asking for trouble when they tonk some teams 5 and 6 nil.

Especially when most will have a minimum of 1 Pool def.

Otherwise it is an excellent team

I could downgrade Siggy or Bilva and upgrade Wilson to Firmino?

I'd keep Wilson over Firmino personally.

I've fluttered with Firmino also. Haven't seen him at all and he is only a bit more than Wilson and Vardy, playing up front for Liverpool.

I may go VVD, Salah and Firmino, knowing robbo and TAA can hurt me here and there.

We can't pick 6 pool can we.

I went with Salah and no sterling. Maybe Wilson to king Nd upgrade Barkley to fraser or moura? Alison to Ryan would free up 1.5m too.
