The Scoutcast crew are reluctant to make drastic changes for Gameweek 2 after spending most of the summer carefully constructing their Fantasy Premier League squads for the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

This week’s crew of Joe, Az, Luke and guest Holly (aka @FFCommunity_) are hoping that patience proves a virtue as they attempt to stick by their chosen players.

But with all three promoted sides impressing in Gameweek 1, including Norwich’s talismanic striker Teemu Pukki, they are already hatching plans for change in the weeks ahead.

What to do with Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and the Premier League’s newest faces are among the issues covered.

Our podcast quartet also find time to ponder when may be the best time to wave goodbye to a player.

The next month’s best differential and clean sheet prospects are also considered as they take in the key events from the first Gameweek of the season and look ahead to what may be a difficult second round of top flight action.

I am on a WC and thinking of going 4-5-1 for the first time. Any thoughts on the below team please?

    Pope (Button)

    Wan-Bissaka - VVD - Pieters - Dunk (Lundstram)

    Zaha - Salah - Sterling - KDB - Martial

    Rashford (Wickham, Silva)

That formation isn’t good for flexibility but you probably already know that. If you’re insisting then I’d certainly have Greenwood to cover for Rashford no show.

Yeah I know. Maybe overkill unless playing price rises. I’d drop one of the other two. Zaha in for Martial plus 0.5m?

      Short-sighted squad in my opinion

Agreed my bench is terrible but I could take Rashford out and put in Pukki and Jota which would give me some bench cover. I genuinely dont know what to do with my 7M midfield choice, currently on Zaha but could change to McGinn for instance and add to defence.

I think I would take some money from Zaha and put it into your bench, there's no flexibility in that squad.

Do you have a second wildcard handy just in case the fullbacks haul and Martial, Rashford blank this week? 😉

I don't see why you are so intent on this formation. A 4.5 over Zaha and upgrade one of your strikers seems much more sensible.

So, people sort of work out around 130K transfer in to increase the price? Mind that Ederson, Sterling, De Gea & Rashford could get double rise then ... what? GW1?

    1. Unliklinho
      • 12 Years
      6 years, 11 months ago

Number of transfers necessary for a rise is as a percentage of that player's ownership, so if a player is highly owned then more transfers in are needed for a rise and vice versa.

      1. Twisted Saltergater
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 17 Years

Can you quote that from somewhere? My understanding was that ownership only plays a part in price drops.

      2. Marty McFly
        • 13 Years
        6 years, 11 months ago

I was under the impression price rises were based on a fixed number of transfers in, whilst price drops were based on a % of sales vs ownership? Or is it the other way around?

can’t say for certain, some players have risen with those transfers, others with more transfers due to the timing of the rises .... doesn’t mean other players will be treated the same by FPL

Ok let's see if these guys DDG, Ederson, Sterling & Martial have reached around >260K transfer in ... whether they will get double rises ...

        1. Hotdogs for Tea
          • 10 Years
          6 years, 11 months ago

there is an even greater threshold for a double rise.

the thought is that there is a threshold, and we only know what that threshold is if a player just reaches it before the time of the rise.

some players blast straight through the threshold and rise with a much bigger ‘transfers in tally’ because they hit the threshold early and continue getting bought before the time that rises happen

i wouldn’t worry too much about it, just buy players you want and buy them early if they are being bought on mass

To be fair, not many could have anticipated how good Pukki would look. I'm more impressed by the chances he got at Anfield, more than the goal itself. It tells me that it wasn't just a flukey goal, and that maybe he isn't just a championship wonder.

I get why people are making this tbh.

Wouldn't expect Jota to feature mid week 4-0 up
Pukki looked good 2nd half but also Liverpool were coasting and took the foot off the brakes
Norwich do look to be an attacking side but think more than 1 game sample is needed imo

Jota certainly needs the rest but the Wolves fixtures til the international break look tough. Think I made a mistake going with Jota at this point in the season but early doors to be making changes.

Hold for now. He looked good at the weekend, but I'd wait a couple of gameweeks at least for the best 6.5m to emerge.

Thanks for your comment on my post earlier. I agree that Sarr could be overlooked on here

No problem, this forum is very reactionary, the recency bias is so strong.

Sarr is probably an unknown player to most, but i really rate him and think he can be Watfords star player

Yes mate, this GWK was the reason i started with him ahead of Kane, so i have to really.

Same here. Fingers crossed. 6 goals in 3 appearances at an average of 14 points will do nicely.

Is it just me or is the League Administration page absolutely rubbish this season? I'm trying to suspend players but it either can't find them at all or takes about 5 attempts.

Ha! Yeah I figured that much out but it seems to take forever to find them or more often than not it just hangs.

Also annoying not to have a drop down to pick from so you have to have a separate window open with the league displayed. Backwards steps!

Shame FPL have removed the option to snoop on your opponents and see cash in the bank and transfers made.

Quite a conservative move really. Many people didn't even utilise it because they are on the app or casuals anyway but doesn't help us out.

Not sure what to make of the price changes at random times this season. Is it an advantage for the casuals or for us professionals?

Yeah - I think it effected my transfers more than I realised knowing when and often whom rivals had brought in.

Most likely to hold on Vardy for a few weeks but

    Vardy to Rashford?

    Thoughts? I own Martial....

Mings blocked 5 shots against Spurs. That's crazy. Is he the type of CB that constantly throws himself in front of shots?

I think the early goal for Villa has probably squewed the stats on this game. When a team like Villa get an early goal at a bigger team they are inevitably going to go backwards and become more defensive and so end up conceding more shots and possession. Happens all the time

    Good afternoon Chaps.
    Which TWO do I bench.

    A. Zouma home to Leicester.
    B. Lundstrom home to Crystal Palace.
    C. Moura away Man City.

    I'm currently thinking of benching A & B
