Joe is joined by David and Karam for the latest episode of the Scoutcast tonight.

You can watch it on our YouTube channel from 8pm BST to 9pm BST.

This episode overlaps with the return of European football to our screens.

Liverpool and Chelsea take on Napoli and Valencia respectively as the Champions League group stages get underway on Tuesday night.

We will have Scout Notes on those matches on Wednesday, but for now, there’s a brand new episode of the Scoutcast to occupy your attention.

On tonight’s agenda are the best cheap defenders now that the premium ones have frustrated their owners.

We’ll also discuss how best to cover Manchester City in the wake of their surprise defeat at Norwich.

Finally, we’ll debate how to recover from a poor start to the season as many managers have endured a tough few weeks.

Naive to go without a premium forward on a WC?

    Pope
    TAA Digne Aurier
    Sterling Mane Son James
    Wilson Abraham Pukki

    Button Rico Lundstram Dendocker

No, you are covered with those players. Nice team.

I like that strike force too. I am weighing up what to go with. Salah/Wilson vs Son/Auba.

        Was my choice Son Auba

      Only for balance purposes.
Forwards are performing atm and your choices restrict a quick fix to the likes of Auba.
Personally I would go Wilson to Auba but would give advice on the midfield downgrade.
I chose to move Sterling more through 2 weeks of frustration than anything else.

I actually like this team. Would try to get Cantwell instead of Dendonker but I'm assuming funds are the issue. Do we also know if Aurier is nailed?

      Nice

Similar in set up to how I’d go. Think KdB over Sterling actually buys a lot. If I was going low as a 4th mid it’d be Cantwell over James too.

    I have 0.1 IDB and 2 FT

    So what to do here?

    Pope, Button
    Digne, TAA, Soy, Lunds, Hanley
    Salah, Sterl, KDB, Mount**, Hayden
    Pukki, Barnes, Haller

I want Tammy but for who?
Most people ship Barnes, but they have great fixtures.
Would rather sell Haller and save 2nd transfer. Maybe I'll need it for Mounty :/

      7 years, 1 month ago

Tammy can wait until next week.

And what about Mount.. If not fit, who to get for him?
        James maybe?

          7 years, 1 month ago

I have just been stupid and got Mount before Chelsea played.
Now I have the same issue but cost me 2 transfers.
I will be going Iwobi or Lanzini

          1. AzzaroMax99
            7 years, 1 month ago

That could be interesting change. Mount to Lanzini to cover WH fixtures and Haller to Tammy.
Will wait on those moves anyway.
            Thanks.

Lanzini stats suggest a score is forthcoming too.

    A couple of tweaks..

    Adrian
    Aurier - Digne - TAA
    Son - KDB - Sterling - Cantwell
    Abraham - Pukki - Aubameyang

    Button - Lundatram - Rico - Marvelous

Nice, like it. Would still prefer Mane over Kdb somehow.

      1. Demel
        7 years, 1 month ago

Not sure with the respective fixtures. It would also involve a big downgrade elsewhere. Although no Liverpool is always asking for trouble.

          Digne downgrade. is all

            7 years, 1 month ago

            Heaton
            TAA Lowton Soy
            Sterling Mane Son Cantwell
            Auba Pukki Abraham

I might have the above soon.

You said the same yesterday. It seems you don't trust KDB.
Reasoning apart from the slightly higher ceiling?

              1. Christina.
                7 years, 1 month ago

I guess I'm stubborn! Son vs KdB for me. Son is the one punt in there with such a low % ownership.

I think it might be lucrative to bet against the template with Son(for a while at least). So far my Mane punt is doing ok so I'm prob over confident.

My mids are Son Mane KDB Mount. A gamble for no Sterling but I have Auba instead and looking to C him for a while. Dangerous I know but gambling on Sterling getting rested in a couple of games.

That looks good! I like a slightly stronger defence but no real complaints there.

          2. Demel
            7 years, 1 month ago

Digne would need to be a 4.4m. Seems a big downgrade to be honest.

            1. Christina.
              7 years, 1 month ago

Digne will do well no doubt, it's just a matter of owning these players at the right time. It just seems now is not the time for a Eve def. Or a City def for that matter.

      Good work

Mane over Sterling in my book. I’d want one 4.5 I can relax about at the back. If Rico gets pushed back again - seems likely after all - that’s a really minimal bench given you’re playing Cantwell Pukki

  4. Rinseboy

hmmm struggling this week. Got 2fts.
How about Mount, Haller and Digne to 4.5, Auba and Guilbert for a -4?

    Pope
    TAA Digne Soyuncu Lunds Rico
    Salah Sterling KDB Mount Cantwell
    Haller Pukki Barnes

    On wildcard
Keep Dendoncker or transfer to > Cantwell or Guendouzi
Already have Pukki and no Arsenal coverage

      Dend will fall in price

Possibly but he’s been hovering around the same price for 2 weeks now. Lots of WC action prolly. He’ll hold for a while anyway

    2. JonSnow

      Cantwell or Guendouzi then?
