Brighton manager Graham Potter continues to prove himself as unpredictable as far as tactics and team selections are concerned.

Once again, he has rolled out a completely different system to last time out as the Seagulls prepare for an away match at Newcastle.

Potter has lined up his troops in a 4-3-1-2 system lead by Neal Maupay (£6.0m) and budget midfielder Steven Alzate (£4.5m).

Unafraid of keeping his senior players on their toes, the manager has also put Glenn Murray (£5.8m) and Shane Duffy (£5.0m) on the bench.

That makes for a centre-back partnership of Lewis Dunk (£4.6m) and Adam Webster (£4.4m), while Dan Burn (£4.5m) retains his left-back berth of a week ago after playing in the middle for the first four matches of the season.

Meanwhile, Martín Montoya (£4.5m) has recovered from tonsilitis and reclaims his place at right-back and Aaron Mooy (£4.9m) gets his first start in midfield.

By contrast, Newcastle go with their tried and tested 5-3-2 formation, led by Joelinton (£5.9m) and Miguel Almirón (£5.9m).

However, there is unlikely to massive FPL interest in this Saturday evening game as the most popular player on show will be on the Brighton bench.

David Button (£4.0m) remains in 25% of teams and is also the most fashionable shot-stopper among managers inside the top 10,000 as well.

Dunk is the most popular playing asset, currently in 11% of teams, while no Newcastle player is owned by more than Isaac Hayden‘s (£4.5m) 6.5%.

Newcastle XI: Dúbravka; Willems, Dummett, Lascelles, Schär, Manquillo; Atsu, Shelvey, Hayden; Almirón, Joelinton.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Burn, Webster, Dunk, Montoya; Mooy, Stephens, Pröpper; Groß; Alzate, Maupay.

Zinchenko almost definitely out, probably for a 4.5/Aurier/Ota

Would you lose Digne/Barnes as well for a hit next week?

Have plenty ITB to afford Abraham, etc.

Considered a WC, but may hold now.

    Pope
    TAA / VVD / Otamendi
    Salah / Sterling / KDB / Cantwell
    Abraham / Pukki / Barnes

    Button // Kelly / Dendoncker / Montoya

    FT: Jota/Digne >> Otamendi/Abraham?

Could also be Barnes, but Wolves don't have great fixtures either. I'll probably have to do it tonight (eek), but if it went tits up I still have the WC to deal with it.

    Anything else look worth doing?

I have two questions for the lovely people on this site.

    1. Are Sterling owners (like myself) going to keep him as he has "had his rest"?

    2. Who are people going to captain next week?

    thanks!!! 🙂

I really can’t decide. Could downgrade to Son if Sterling plays lots midweek.

Idek. Salah or KDB, or Sterling if he’s rested and I still own.

Those considering dropping Sterling due to this rest, must be considering now having any Man City assets? Keeper and central defenders aside, they're all gonna be rotated.

        • 16 Years
        6 years, 10 months ago

Absolutely, I'm hoping for the first major mass transfer bite if people get rid this week - if man city had scored one, nobody would be jumping to these conclusions. The fact they scored 8 is a good indicator of future team performance and potential Stirling points

    Smooth: Kept KDB captain 🙂

    How is this plan?

James, Zinch and Digne to KdB Rico and Kelly for -4?

Would mean triple attack City, but Sterling could easily become Mane or Auba in the weeks after.

    Ryan Button
    - terrible

    - too much cash and now Zinch is a rotation risk and Digne is waste of space

    Salah Sterling KDB Mount Donker
    - no bench fodder, Mount injury doubt, Sterling rotation risk, no Son, Salah fixtures mean I won't captain him can use that money for Son, Kun, Auba, Pep even, Vardy. No Mane

    Tammy Pukki Greenwood
    - with so many goals and so many options, I want to go Kun, Auba, Vardy

      Keep.

Ryan is a fine keeper. Clean sheets will happen once in a while, but it's the 6 saves that get you bonuses.

TAA, Digne, AWB, Lundstram, Zinchenko... Zinch might be rotated with the tea lady? They have no real options at the back currently, and once European progress is secured he'll get his rest.

That midfield is a powerhouse. Mount already likely back for next week. Donks unlucky this season, but VAR can't shaft him continually.

That front line also seems fine. Play Puks at home, bench away. You can't play 15...
