FFS Mini-Leagues & Community Competitions Gameweek 10

Welcome to the latest round-up of the Fantasy Football Scout mini-leagues and community competitions, covering Gameweek 10 in FPL, Gameweek 26 in Fantasy Eliteserien, and Gameweek 29 in Fantasy Allsvenskan.

Head-to-Head Leagues

Craig Johnson (aka Bouncebackability) and Owen Walker (aka Zan Scott Talent) move back to the top of the FFS Head-to-Head leagues with Craig leading on rank difference.

A score of 65 points in Gameweek 10 saw Craig attain his best rank this season – 64,551 overall: he’s currently the highest ranking manager in League 1.

Last week’s leader olavi oja slips to third after his disappointing 46 points handed Grant Barclay an easy win. This is Olavi’s fifth red arrow in a row and he drops outside the top 100k for the first time since Gameweek 3.

Olavi has kept faith with Sergio Aguero, whom he drafted in on his Gameweek 4 Wildcard.

Aguero has returned just seven points over the last four Gameweeks and, like FFS Pro Pundit Ash (aka Chief), Olavi has to decide how much longer to give the Argentinian in his side.

Level on points with Olavi are Simon Vazquez and callum croal

Callum, who was second in RedLightning’s Top 10k Any Season mini-league last season and runner up in our FFS Members’ Cup, has lost only once in the Head-to-Head. The only reason he doesn’t top League 1 is that, somewhat improbably, he has drawn three matches.

Callum finished an impressive 78th overall last year, remarkably not his best end-of-season rank, which was 61st in 2014/15.

After ten Gameweeks just four managers maintain 100% winning records in the Head-to-Head leagues.

They are Pavle Ziman in League 6 Division 5 and three managers in League 8: Ammar Mirza in Division 26, Vladimir Stojiljkovic in Division 77 and Adam Hardwidge in Division 110.

An outstanding 91 points in Gameweek 10 saw Pavle leap from 407,953 to 51,342 overall. Ben Chilwell, Jamie Vardy, and Pavle’s captain Raheem Sterling contributed 61 of those points.

Despite finishing 26th overall last year, Pavle finds himself in League 6 because of his previous poor record. He ended outside the top 1 million in 2018/19 and in four years playing FPL had never been higher than 204,957.

Of the trio with a perfect 30 points out of 30 in League 8, only Adam has ever finished in the top 100k before. All three are currently experiencing their best seasons.

Remarkably, as we approach Gameweek 11, there isn’t a single manager in the top four leagues currently in the top 10,000.

At 129th overall, David Hurley has the best rank of any manager in the Head-to-Head leagues. Although a great rank is no guarantee of success – David has lost three of his matches in Division 60 of League 7

Brain Doyle leads the Division by three points. Currently 453,639th overall and 104 points behind David in FPL, Brian won their clash in Gameweek 6 by 76 points to 74.

A fixtures table will be published in the Scout’s Guide to Gameweek 11 ahead of the deadline. However, if you would like to find out who you are playing next before then, follow this link. Use your browser’s find in page function (Ctrl+F) to locate managers. All this information and more is contained in the main Head-to-Head page

Fantasy Football Scout Mini-Leagues

Mark May takes the lead in our Fantasy Football Scout mini-league after successfully playing his Wildcard for a Gameweek score of 79.

Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell joined teammate Jamie Vardy on Mark’s Wildcard. The pair’s 39 points accounted for nearly half his weekly score. Fusen’s FPL Statistico tool reveals that Mark gained 30 immediate transfer points using his Wildcard.

West Ham United fan Mark has risen to 16th overall. This is his 13th FPL season and his best one to date. Previous leader Darren Hyett drops to third.

RedLightning notes:

Mark is the only leader in our six featured mini-leagues currently in the top thousand, and his previous best finish was just outside the top 20k – it’s a funny old season!

There are currently 43,623 managers participating in the Fantasy Football Scout mini-league, to join them enter code ooyz44 in your Leagues’ section on the FPL site

Luke Macbeth is the new number one in our FFS Members mini-league as previous leader Tom Foster drops to third.

“If you can look into the seeds of time, And say which grain will grow and which will not.” – Banquo in Act 1, Scene 3 of Macbeth

In Gameweek 10, Luke Macbeth picked exactly the right grain – transferring in Jamie Vardy for Roberto Firmino. It was his first transfer since Gameweek 7 and he now has two free transfers going into Gameweek 11.

“Thou wouldst be great, Art not without ambition” – Lady Macbeth in Act 1, Scene 5 of Macbeth

This is Luke’s third FPL season and his best by far.

The code to join the FFS Members League can be found on the Members page

Community Mini-Leagues and Competitions

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score for Gameweek 10 was 40 points, which saw 201 managers eliminated. The threshold for elimination remains at 7% for Gameweek 11.

2,242 managers have departed the competition so far with 2,657 left to battle it out for the coveted title of Last Man Standing. It is still possible to join them: entries are accepted up until Gameweek 22 – use the code bcvy39 in your Leagues’ section on the FPL site. However you must pass all the previous safety scores to qualify.

Aside from bragging rights, the winner will receive a free Fantasy Football Scout Membership for the 2020/21 season.

In the Pundit’s Play-Off Community Tournament Unbelievable Jeff have opened up a lead of one and a half points following a convincing 14-1 victory over Brazil Nuts.

B Bodega: Holly’s Hamster will bring us a full review of MatchWeek 2 later this week.

The FFS Mods & Cons mini-league now has joint leaders with Neale (aka SkontoRigga) and Andy Goddard (aka Andy G) sharing first place.

Neale, the FFS Deputy Editor, had occupied second place for many weeks. He is in his 14th season and has had three top 5,000 finishes, the best of which was 2,016th in 2012/13.

Leicester City superfan Andy, an FFS veteran, has joined him in the lead after captaining Jamie Vardy for the fourth time this season.

Andy is also in his 14th FPL season and has four top 5,000 finishes, two of them in the top thousand – 637th in 2012/13 and 735th in 2015/16. The latter being the season when Leicester won the Premier League. That year, Andy had Vardy and Mahrez from the start and regularly captained Vardy. When Leicester do well, so does Andy!

Meanwhile Dan Laidlaw (aka Legomané) is yet another previous leader to drop to third this week.

John Holmes has regained the lead in RedLightning’s Top 10k Any Season mini-league after Mark Taylor, who led last week, captained Agüero for a Gameweek score of only 34. Mark slips to sixth.

John’s Gameweek 9 transfers paid dividends in Gameweek 10: Tielemans and Abraham combined for 16 points helping John to a total of 60. Despite beating the average score by 11, John slipped over 500 places to 1,244 overall. In fact, his only green arrow was in this mini-league.

Managers with a top 10k finish may join the league using the code m0tq9y.

Dan Bennett is the new leader of Chaballer’s Top 1,000 HoF League with FFS Pro Pundit Tom Freeman moving into second place.

All of Dan’s midfielders and forwards earned attacking returns in Gameweek 9 as his side scored an impressive 75 points. Dan has six top 5,000 finishes, his best being 917th in 2014/15.

Tom’s starting XI differs by only three players to Dan’s. Tom has Hudson-Odoi, Montoya, and Henderson to Dan’s Mount, Tomori, and Pope.

In ten seasons playing FPL, Aston Villa fan Tom has finished in the top 1,000 a staggering five times! Last year, he achieved his best ever end-of-season rank of 214. Isn’t FPL meant to be getting harder?

Dan is 205th in the Career Hall of Fame with Tom in ninth place. Managers in the top 1,000 of the Career HoF may enter the league using the code beeps2.

2016/17 FPL winner Ben Crabtree increased his lead to 34 points at the top of the exclusive FPL Champions League as FFS Pro Pundit and 2014/15 FPL winner Simon March moved up to second.

Ben managed 52 points despite Lucas Digne’s minus one point contribution. Ben saved a transfer in Gameweek 10 and will have two transfers available for Gameweek 11. Both Ben and Simon handed Raheem Sterling the armband and were rewarded with a 22-point captain return.

Eliteserien and Allsvenskan

Svein Johansen had his lead cut to three points at the top of the FFS Eliteserien mini-league as FPL Heskibo closed the gap.

FPL Heskibo gained 38 points from his captain Amahl Pellegrino for a Gameweek rank of 137. His score of 76 points was more than double the weekly average. He jumps from 58th to 18th overall.

Meanwhile Svein’s 48 points sees him drop two places to 15th. Svein topped the overall leaderboard in Round 15, but is now 54 points behind Håvard Gustad in the battle to be crowned Fantasy Eliteserien champion.

Håvard has led for nine of the last ten Gameweeks. And with four rounds to go has a 14-point advantage over Arne Thon in second.

Ahead of the final round of fixtures, four managers from the FFS Allsvenskan mini-league find themselves in the top ten overall.

But there were mixed fortunes for this high-flying quartet in Gameweek 29.

A disappointing 65 points for Daniel Sebestyen sees his lead reduced to 12 points with Jan Inge Nordby hot on his heels. Frustratingly for Daniel he left Ramsus Lauritsen on his bench, the Danish centre-back returned 13 points thanks to a goal and clean sheet away to Häcken.

This cost Daniel first place overall as Tobias Wahlström – who started Lauritsen – moved back to the top of the pile in Fantasy Allsvenskan. He takes a six-point lead into the final Gameweek.

Jan Inge Nordby, second in the FFS mini-league, moves up to third overall. Like Tobias he started Lauritsen. Jan played him instead of Henok Goitom, a seemingly brave decision given that the 35-year-old forward had scored four goals and supplied one assist in Gameweek 28. However it proved to be the correct decision as Goitom blanked away to Malmö.

Over 40 points behind Jan are Henrik Mäkitalo and Simon Eriksson. Three points separate the pair who are third and fourth respectively in the FFS mini-league, eighth and tenth overall.

Good luck to Daniel, Jan, Henrik, and Simon in the final Gameweek of the season.

TopMarx Fan of Fantasy Football and Monty Python. "Archimedes out to Socrates, Socrates back to Archimedes, Archimedes out to Heraclitus, he beats Hegel. Heraclitus a little flick, here he comes on the far post, Socrates is there, Socrates heads it in! Socrates has scored! The Greeks are going mad, the Greeks are going mad! Socrates scores, got a beautiful cross from Archimedes. The Germans are disputing it. Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx is claiming it was offside. You're welcome, always interesting to see which managers are doing well and the moves they are making. Congrats on making it back to the top of the H2H! I'm amazed none of the managers in the top 4 leagues are in the top 10,000.

A potential epic in GW11 as I face off against the team just below mine... 9-1 plays 8-2... I feel super confident currently but might make a minor WC change to switch out 2-3 players to get a jump on my GW12 & 13 plans.

I was in town for a meeting so missed the first half, but now sat at my desk and checking points... My FFS HU opponent has given up. No changes in a month. As has been noted elsewhere that doesn't mean I walk the round, but it's something. He has Aguero (C), Sterling, Bilva to my Sterling (C), KdB, Mendy. A coin toss.

For you, MbM reporting of the highest order!

I also impulse sold AWB last night, for Mendy... so a +0.1 gain there, AND already doing better in terms of likely clean sheets.
