Scoutcast Episode 306 – What to do about Aguero and Man City rotation?

Manchester City rotation and the fallout from Leicester City’s remarkable 9-0 win over Southampton dominate the discussion in this week’s Scoutcast.

David and Az have the perfect guest to reflect on the rout at St. Mary’s, as they are joined by Foxes fan and Jamie Vardy captainer Andy Goddard.

Andy also reveals how he has ascended to the top of the FFS Mods and Cons mini-league despite – or perhaps because of – having no Liverpool and Manchester City representation.

There is plenty of airtime devoted to Pep Guardiola’s maddening tinkering as the debate rages over how we handle the unpredictability of the champions’ starting XIs.

A discussion on the defensive template also throws up various names, both budget and premium.

Andy takes his turn to choose a differential after the success of Joe’s Neal Maupay pick, while David reveals the best teams for clean sheets.

There’s plenty of roughs and a smattering of smooths as Az summarises the community’s fortunes in Gameweek 10.

The trio’s transfer and captain plans are also unveiled as we prepare for the penultimate Gameweek before the November international break.

    Evening all
I’ve somehow managed to get this far before the deadline without being tempted to take hits (very unlike me ). Kun gets this week to save my season and then he and Boly are gone, prob with a mid to facilitate a shift around.

    Pope
    TAA, Lunds, Willems
    Mané, KDB (v), Mount, Barnes
    Aguero (C), Vardy, Abraham

GL all! This will be a week with massive highs and lows I think

Absolutely no where :). No transfers made... If I get rid of Wilson it leads to benching headaches but hes going to drop :/. Mane to Sterl still my gut, could backfire but none in my ML have him so won't hurt too much

No one in your ML have Mané or Sterling? Surprised by either tbh!

I think all my main MLs have almost 100% owning both!

              • 5 Years
              4 years, 5 months ago

Nah, everyone has Sterling. No Mane... I was only one with Vardy last week but they all capt Sterl so it made it feel less great.

                4 years, 5 months ago

Tbh with 2FT you could risk Sterling in for Mané. As you say he is so highly owned and will be super-capped so if you don’t have the next best thing (Kun) then it may be worth the shield.

Other option is Wilson to Jiménez

Yh cheers. Probs do it tbf, much better fixture aswell and Sterl does better against pool than Mane against city imo

I dont think sterling has ever got any returns vs Pool

Don't fancy Jimi tbh. Prefer martial, Dilva, Tielz and one or 2 others tbf. Sterl still huge stress though yh. Mane to Sterl is the huge debate, along with bench headaches

arsenal are in a real mess right now wolves have good fixtures coming up too

Best bench fodder midfield 4.6 or below. Is Douglas Luiz a good shout?
    Anyone else?

Depends on what the rest of your bench looks like - I have players like Lundstram, Rico and Connolly so my last bench spot likely won’t play much so I’ll maximise spare cash with Dendoncker (4.4).

I am on WC but by selecting a 4.6 or below mid it enables me to keep Rico and get Connolly in too

That’s what I’m saying - if you are going cheap for your 5th midfielder may as well go as cheap as you can i.e. 4.4

Would love your thoughts and comments on the below options?

    Sterling KDB Salah Mount (Cantwell)
    Abraham Wilson Jiménez

    1. Leave alone (343)
    2. Martial & Connolly in for Wilson & Cantwell (352)
    3. Vardy & Connolly in for Wilson & Jiménez (meaning own both Cantwell & Connolly 442)

    Thanks very much

Silva may be good for this GW alone, but longer term I'm liking Martial. I'll probably be bringing him in myself. It looks like Man Utd may be turning a corner, and even if they aren't they've at least got the fixtures to score a few goals even if the team itself doesn't win.
Not a fan of Jimi at all this season especially with Europe to contend with too.

Tricky, (but planning 3 GWs ahead can be futile with potential injuries etc between now and then)
Obvious route is Downgrade a FWD (Not Vardy) and swap out Kelly if you can do that in one move.

Personally, I would get TAA in for Chilwell/Mendy *Assume you've only just got them in), downgrade Jimi/Tammy which will let you upgrade Hayden.

I think downgrading Sterling could be your answer. Man City don’t have great fixtures and Sterling and KDB might be too much rep. Mendy out also. He looks fantastic for this week, but not after that. You also have to look at Man City fixtures ie CL. If he plays in one of them, he won’t play the weekend. I’m currently deciding on whether to bring in Mendy or TAA. For just this week id pick Mendy, but med to long term TAA, as I know I’ll save myself a transfer in 2 weeks.

    GK: Ryan / Button
    Def: TAA/ Robbo/ Pereira/ Tomori/ Lundstrum
    Mid: Mane/ Sterling/ KDB/ Mount/ Dendoncker
    Fwd: Abraham/ Pukki/ Greenwood

With 2 FT and 0.0 ITB, what changes would you make? I wasted a transfer last week as I couldn't justify any changes

    1. Boberella
      • 7 Years

      Bit back heavy.
I'd be downgrading that DEF and getting Vardy in for Pukki.

It's what I'm thinking but I'm tempted to hold till next week, Vardy may struggle against Palace and Liverpool are away to Villa, then next week Liverpool play City and Vardy plays Arsenal... just feels wrong wasting two transfers in a row though

    Pope
    Robbo Pereira Lundstram

That's the plan for next week. Happy to give Cantwell one last shot this week.
Would be Digne to Rico, which gives 6.9 for a Cantwell replacement.
Or downgrade Auba to Vardy as well, which gives 8.6

Put the armband on the player you think will score the most points.
"It's a simple game made hard by fools" was a famous quote by my Youth's manager. We in FPL think to overthink things and you for example doing the same as what your rivals are doing in November to counteract what they do is madness.
