A week of international football gets underway on Wednesday and, as ever, there will be plenty of Premier League representation across the world over the coming seven days.

We’ve put together our usual club-by-club guide to which players will be away with their nations, detailing the countries they are representing and when their matches are scheduled for.

There are a few notable omissions from the list below, with several well-owned Fantasy Premier League assets having a welcome fortnight off.

Jamie Vardy (£9.6m) called time on his England career last year, while David Silva (£7.6m) has also retired from international duty with Spain.

Anthony Martial (£7.7m) and Alexandre Lacazette (£9.3m) have been overlooked by Didier Deschamps, while right-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£5.4m) and Kyle Walker (£5.9m) aren’t part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Mohamed Salah (£12.3m) and Andrew Robertson (£7.0m) weren’t meant to have a two-week recuperation period, of course, but both Liverpool assets have withdrawn from their respective countries’ squads over the last few days.

Salah’s bothersome ankle has seen him ruled out of Egypt’s forthcoming internationals but only after the premium midfielder had travelled to Africa for a consultation with the national team doctor and head coach.

Salah had been pictured with ice on his ankle after the Gameweek 12 win over Manchester City and was spotted wearing a protective boot when joining up with his country on Tuesday.

A statement from the Egyptian FA said:

After medical tests, Mohamed Salah will not play against Kenya and The Comoros. The injury needs a period of treatment to recover.

Robertson, along with Ryan Fraser (£7.0m) and Scott McTominay (£5.1m), withdrew from the Scotland squad on Tuesday.

The Liverpool left-back himself said:

For the last two and a half weeks, I’ve not trained at all for Liverpool. I’ve trained the day before a game, could only play the last 15 minutes against Genk in the Champions League and missed the Arsenal game in the League Cup.

It’s a niggling injury which won’t go away unless I give it time. My ankle was already injured when a tackle from Rodri on me late in the game against Manchester City on Sunday opened it up again.

I was already a doubt for Scotland but, unfortunately, that made it even worse. I don’t want to pick up more injuries and ruin my season because of it. The call has been made and it has been taken out of my hands. It hurts as captain to miss out. I know a lot has been said about these two games being meaningless but we don’t believe that.

The in-form Christian Pulisic (£7.4m) won’t be part of the USA’s squad for their CONCACAF Nations League games over the next week, meanwhile.

Pulisic picked up a hip injury in the win over Crystal Palace and USA head coach Gregg Berhalter said:

This was a collaborative decision with the club looking after the best interest of the player. These decisions are always difficult because this group and the coaching staff want nothing more than to have Christian here, but it was a risk we weren’t willing to take at this time.

At the time of writing, Raul Jimenez (£7.3m) is still on course to be representing Mexico in their own CONCACAF Nations League ties.

Jimenez picked up a leg injury in the dying stages of Sunday’s win over Aston Villa but has reported for international duty, with a decision still to be made on his involvement in games against Panama and Bermuda.

The last of those games takes place in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Mexico so, if he is involved, a late flight back to England awaits Jimenez ahead of Wolves’ Gameweek 13 meeting with Bournemouth the following Saturday.

Looking on the positive side for his owners, on just one occasion has Jimenez been benched by Nuno Espirito Santo after international duty (March 2019).

Elsewhere on the long-haul flight watch, DeAndre Yedlin (£4.4m), Steven Alzate (£4.5m), Yerry Mina (£5.4m), Davinson Sanchez (£5.3m) and Jefferson Lerma (£4.8m) are all due to feature for their respective countries just after midnight on Wednesday.

Brazil and Argentina are in international friendly action in the Middle East, rather than the Americas, so the Premier League players in action for those two countries at least have a little longer to recover from their exertions given the time difference.

Sergio Aguero (£12.0m), recalled by Argentina, will face teammate Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) in Riyadh this Friday.

Son Heung-min‘s (£9.6m) South Korea side will encounter Brazil next Tuesday afternoon in Abu Dhabi, having played Lebanon in a World Cup qualifier five days beforehand.

Sadio Mane (£12.1m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s (£11.0m) international duty will be done by Sunday, with both premium FPL assets representing their countries in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The 22 Premier League-based players in England’s squad will also be packed up early, with the Three Lions taking on Montenegro and Kosovo on Thursday and Sunday.

Raheem Sterling (£12.0m), of course, won’t be featuring for Gareth Southgate’s side in the first of those games, having clashed with Joe Gomez (£5.1m) in training.

    Captains this week?
Palace’s home defence probably the worst available from the credible captaincy option. Has to be whichever one you own of salah/Mane this week right ?
Targeting the worst defence seems to be the most reliable strategy so far for captaincy picks from me

      Vardy consistency though....

Yea I guess. I have it on him until we know more about salah fitness. I rate brighton’s home defence highly (even with balogun coming in for Dunk). I have transferred Vardy in this week so expecting the consistency to end

There is also a HOT Jamie Vardy
I would consider Auba as a great "differential" captain pick
But I will probably go for KDB...Just feeling City will thrash Chelsea and KDB is very clinical in such games Vs top 6 where city scores a lot(at the Etihad Stadium)

Sold Auba for Vardy this week. As a long time Auba owner and 3 time capper. Believe me when I say he is not a good anything pick.
KDB will be back to CDM with Dilva back and rested. Don’t do it

I've not gone back and checked but I suspect captain poll winners targetting potential hauls will have largely failed.

6-9 points consistently is a success this year.

I encourage members to check home defence stats this season. And especially in more recent weeks.

by that I assume you've seen how good Brighton have been at home recently, for those who haven't Brighton have only conceded 2 big chances (1st), 33 shots (3rd), shots in the box (20), and 2.09 xG (2nd). However as Joe always says Vardy is a stat buster! Leaning towards Mane as Palace not looking so good at home and Mane has an unbelievable soaring record against them.

          You're really anti kdb now..
Rodri is back, he played and returned his massive hauls when dilva was playing, his injury and return has no real impact, its weather rodri plays.
Wait and see how he gets on for the next few game weeks.

Tactical change from Pep after Laporte out. Laporte is the key absentee, not Rodri like everyone thinks

Agree to disagree, since laporte injury hes returned 1g 5 assists in 7 games, and unlucky not to get more.
Over that period hes dropped back with rodri out, we'll see how it goes in next few weeks.

They also lost 3-2 to norwich then 2-0 at home against wolves. That’s when he noticed things were getting weird and why we see KDB playing as a quarter back. He needs more bodies back to protect Ferna and Ota/Stones because they aren’t as good. Done a great job at cutting off passing lanes for opposition and has been a move which has improved their defence. KDB moves out of that position and they concede 3 to liverpool? Think KDBs destiny is that role until Laporte returns

Loving the fact the f2f God's have picked my bench this week with Bilva and Dunk and a non playing striker.

I respect the Brighton fortress, especially as the last line is the highest scoring g/k.

      Firmino for me.

That is quite the bench you have.
Firmino is owning the stats. Showing solidarity with our cow, donkey and fox friends by dumping number 2s everywhere he goes lately though

It's a tough one for the captaincy this week. It's between Vardy and Sterling for me.

Brighton have kept two clean sheets in 6 home games from what I can see, and one of those was Norwich post-Pukki party, so does that count? Obviously Dunk out too will weaken them.

Chelsea are conceding two goals a game on average on the road, although they have looked a little better defensively of late. Though the Etihad will be expecting a response after the Liverpool game. But Raheem and those blankety-blanks...arghhh!!!

They don’t keep CS that is fair but they won’t allow hauls.
I agree, sterling and Aguero would be amazing differential picks this week if you own I’d probably back that. Haven’t looked at the stats for Chelsea away defence yet since I don’t want to captain a CDM. Not that stats matter all that much for city they are a different animal at times. Worth investigating for you

From my -albeit limited- interpretation of the stats it seems that Brighton are indeed fairly tight at home, in the top 5 in some of the shots conceeded numbers.

Chelsea have tightened up a little over the last 4 away games, but you still would expect them to conceed 1 or 2 goals, but perhaps not more than that.

Interestingly it seems to be Palace that have been getting away with it at home -in terms of goals conceeded- considering the number of shots they allow, perhaps I have been overlooking Mane, never even considered him.

Between Auba, Vardy and Mane for me. KdB might assist 1 or 2 but Chelsea won't concede 6 this year imo (famous last words).

Had to sell Auba man. Got so annoyed at him playing full back for 80 mins. Emery has ruined them. Mainly because I needed to get Vardy though. Mane would be my personal pick from those looks like hauling every game lately

Annoying, yes... I have had him since he started to blank. Vardy and Tammy are my other forwards since gw10. Should he blank both next, or score only one, out he goes. Probably anyway, but on the other hand just before Brighton at home perhaps not.

Bus team has Vardy with the (C) currently, but there's something to be said for considering Sterling (rest, a leaky defence facing him), Lordstram (his attacking stats are great and while United's defence is decent it does leak too), even Willock against Soton...

Willian should get more minutes are the Christmas period, his competition in Pedro hasn't even been making the match squad recently.

But Pulisic plays more centrally, as an inside forward, so its a trade off.

Hmm.. If I did B, my next two moves could be Son + Kelly to Pulisic + Robbo..

Alternatively I could save and reacess.. I have Son in the team whom I might not want after next gameweeks if Spurs continue their terrible form. But would then get mad if either Robbo or Martial hauls... Dilemma

Actually you can do next week Son to Pulisic or Martial also if you get Robbo now. But rethink with Martial, last time I transferred him in he got injured immediately. You can get him for gw17?

You have a valid point again. My only worry is that I want Tomori back at some point. That would prove costly. But same could be said for Mount.

                  I prefer Maddison.

Martial isn’t a BAPs magnet, plays for a fairly mediocre United team and is injury prone.

I don’t get the Martial love in on here, but each to his own.

I owned him last season and he did nothing, so there’s history there with us!

You guys are absolutely right. I will go for Robbo and then I can consider what to do with Son + Mount later. By the sound of it, I might go for Pulisic + Madisson. If Martial seems like a better pick, I can always go down that road. Thanks for taking your time both of you. Very helpful

Nope. Dumping for rich for a one gw cap punt. Then Rich to Pulisic the gw after.

Which option is best guys?? Have 2FT's 0.7 itb

    Pope (Button)
    Tomori, Soyuncu, TAA, Lundstrom (Rico)
    Salah, KDB, Sterling, Mount (Cantwell)
    Tammy, Vardy (Greenwood)

    A) Sterling & Mount for Mane and Tielemans
    B) Sterling & Mount for Maddsion and Jimenez

If Robertson fit A- Mount will continue as good option and not so much rotation risk in his position.

If I’m on a WC is Ryan and Button the best cheap GK combo to go for.

At least I’ll always have a playing keeper.

Nice to see that Mane got his blank out if the way with against the Congolese but at the same time it is kind of worrying as an owner that he was in action so soon after the City match while Salah is resting and has his feet up.

Salah has broken wheels, might want Mane

mount is being patient eclipsed by Pulisc

KBD stats show problems. He is a shadow of the player of the first month

I have Pope and Button...be nice to have a less porous defense than Burnley

      No Arsenal, that’s good

No MU, that a personal choice

No Wolves, they look a bit hot

Always some work to do i guess and maybe try and reengage with friends and family.I will still watch some of the international football though and watch the Brazilian F1 GP of course.

Boozing and fpl are not a great mix and you are lucky the two things are not clashing for the coming weekend.I was away at a mates stag do for gw11 and missed the deadline due to having a very late night.I know i should have sorted it before i went out but i didn't and had Lundstrum buried on my bench with his 21 points but Soy kind of bailed me out with his 14 points so all was not lost.

Did a similar thing once. Didnt miss the deadline but missed a price change that resulted in me being priced out of doing Pukki to Jimenez. Effectively costed me about +12 points. Not as bad as your story though.

It has to be between Soy and Mount if you saw how great Lundstram was. Wouldn't be easy decision for me. If I bench Soy or Tomori, it always means points on the bench. Mount is not going to get that cs point this week or baps imo. Even if Chelsea scores, it is more likely Pulisic or Abraham.

Chelsea defender below 5.0m. Chelsea has one of the lowest xG conceded and they didn't concede in their last 3 games at home. I currently don't have him but considering getting him after City.

Chelsea defender, still under 5m, decent haul even though he missed first 3 games.
Key for me is having watched him play he has a threat and will continue to improve.
If you look at FPL transfer page stats he won't jump out but he does to the eye.

He scored a goal in one of his first PL starts, and he fit the budget defender mold. Not to mention people gravitate towards the big teams from the past decade: always more willing to go for Man U, Chelsea, and even Arsenal defenders ahead of the mid table teams, given a similar price point.
