Bernardo Silva (£7.9m) only makes the bench for Manchester City, upon his return from a one-match suspension.

The midfielder was forced to sit out last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Chelsea due to a controversial tweet to teammate Benjamin Mendy (£5.7m), although he did start in midweek for their 1-1 Champions League draw with Shakhtar.

There are three changes for the champions ahead of their trip to Newcastle, with Pep Guardiola hoping to avenge last season’s 2-1 defeat on Tyneside.

Kyle Walker (£5.8m) takes the place of Joao Cancelo (£5.3m) at right-back and Ilkay Gundogan (£5.2m) steps in for Rodrigo (£5.4m) at the base of the midfield, with Sergio Aguero’s (£11.8m) thigh injury ensuring Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) gets the nod alongside Riyad Mahrez (£8.3m) and the out-of-form (FPL-wise) Raheem Sterling (£12.0m).

Jesus has three goals from just 462 minutes of Premier League football this season and will hope to impress his manager today.

Steve Bruce has only made one change for Newcastle following Monday’s poor 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa.

DeAndre Yedlin (£4.4m) needlessly gave away a free-kick which led to the opening goal but a hip issue sees him miss proceedings today. Javier Manquillo (£4.3m) gets a rare start.

The front three of Joelinton (£5.7m), Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.4m) and Miguel Almiron (£5.8m) have just one goal between them all season but limited back-up options have been further strained with a late rib injury for Andy Carroll (£5.4m).

Eight of Newcastle’s 11 goals have come from defenders and they may target the opposition of John Stones (£5.3m) and Fernandinho (£5.2m) as an opportunity at set pieces.

Sean Longstaff (£5.0m) and brother Matthew Longstaff (£4.5m) both make the home side’s bench, with Fabian Schar (£5.0m) still not ready to return at centre-back.

Joining Silva, Cancelo and Rodrigo on the Man City bench is Nicolas Otamendi (£5.1m) and Phil Foden (£5.1m).

Newcastle United XI (5-4-1): Dubravka; Manquillo, Clark, Fernandez, Dummett, Willems; Almiron, Hayden, Shelvey, Saint-Maximin; Joelinton.

Manchester City XI (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Fernandinho, Stones, Mendy; De Bruyne, Gundogan, D Silva; Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling.

Do you plan moving Pope as their fixtures go south now? Maybe switch to Henderson or Gazza?
Or sensible way is just set and forget?

Keeping Pope, but doubled up on Sheffield defence - Baldock in for Lowton so I can hang fire on Tammy's fitness.

    6. Pinturicchio10
      6 years, 8 months ago

It was the plan yeah. Mind you I have bank now having sold Abraham for Ings so I could sell the disaster that is Fredericks for Van Aanholt instead. That's quite tempting to be honest.

      1. Pinturicchio10
        6 years, 8 months ago

Actually, as tempting as Van Aanholt is, there's no room for him my squad. I'd have to bench a good defender with a good fixture and bench is already strong enough to cover any no shows. Yeah, probably will buy Guaita for Pope actually.

Let me ask again as think most dont know how it works (including me).
Imagine a situation that many, many managers will sell a player in one day and he will be on, lets say, -300% at fplstatistics.co.uk.
Pretty sure he will fall only 0.1 in one night but question is on what number of % he will be the next day? Start from 0% or around that -200%?

How is that not fair? Its how the system works and its always worked like that. Its to dampen volatility in cases like this were a popular player gets injured.

Look at past champs... they go from 200k finishes, then up to number 1... then back to 200k again the season after

Everyone has a chance to win it lol

If that doesn't show the game is luck I don't know what does

    1. Camzy
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      Stars align and all that.

But honestly, the way some players play, they will never win the whole thing, and that's not necessarily a bad thing if your aim is just to get consistent top 10K finishes or win your mini league every season. For example, I don't think Joe will ever get into the top 100 with the way he plays. He'll be and continues to be very consistent, but to get in the top 100 takes luck and takes a willingness to punt on players that are unproven before they come good.

It's what makes Mark so damn good. He can do that AND still be consistent.

      1. Bruce Lee
        • 7 Years

So you think he won't get in because he doesn't take much risk?

Hes always a step behind on bandwagons. To get top 1 you need to be the one getting on wagons before they are obvious picks. Calculated risk taking involves luck to pay off.

Who would be better for Arsenal, Eddie Howe or Nuno Espirito Santo?
    .

    Hypothetically speaking.

    1. Marvin.
      • 9 Years

NES would be a great fit I think. Plays 3 at the back which means getting a tune out of Luiz. 2 up front too.

I wouldn't be expecting Luiz to play much next season, and he doesn't walk into the current team for a new manager either, in my opinion, even with three at the back. 😆

But I'd be more than happy with NES

He doesn't play deep, he plays in the half space channels. Suspect they will try to overload on that flank now with Mahrez starting over Bernardo. Could mean good things for Sterling cutting in from the other side now that Mendy is keeping width.

Why are people panicking and saying Kdb is playing CDM?! They are playing Newcastle for Christ sake, Gundo will be their deepest mid and Kdb and Silva will bomb forward the whole game as Newcastle are known to sit deep and frustrate, if anything Kdb will be the key factor to unlock their defence...just calm down people

Think you might need to calm down there.

Looks like it is going to be a tough day at the office for Man City. Newcastle happy to defend and not commit anyone forward.

Think I will actually. Long term a -4 should pay off for Guaita

City don't like trips to the Northeast, all those 1-0 loses away to Sunderland and defeat at Newcastle last year

Where did he come from?....in the right team it doesn’t always matter if they have no end product...players like him tie a couple of defenders up so they earn their place that way. Newcastle need a goal scorer though.
