Meanwhile, in a musty backroom at the infamous 'FPL Towers,' a group of graying, long-bearded men encircle a large black computer server, humming in unison. They don star and moon-encrusted pointy hats and then, swaying in time, raise their arms to wiggle their fingers in the direction of the server.

"HOCUS-POCUS ALAKASHAM, NO PRICE DROP FOR ABRAHAM!"

The server beeps once, and is silent.

It's comical at this point but after the Martial and KDB price manipulation I guess we should have expected it. He's not as critical as someone like Vardy though FUDGY. You can get Jimenez for less money and he's actually outscored Abraham over the past 9 weeks.

The lack of transparency in the way price change is one big problem for FPL and will eventually lead to more dedicated managers get sick of the game.

Just the fact that we have to visit a third party website to have a clue about what will most likely happen is a joke. At the end is unfair for those who play the game but don't follow forums.

i like the unpredictable nature of price changes. They ofc no we have tried to crack the algorithim with sites like fpl stats. Those strange price locks on certain players are to confuse us, they will laugh about it. Trust me

I'm not an expert...but I have noticed that the margin for error in price predictions (rises/drops) seems to be relative to ownership. The highly owned players (40-50%) tend to have a larger margin of error than the lesser owned players (5-20%). When a highly owned player is at +100 or -100 on the price prediction sites many times they don't move but the less popular players always seem to move more predictably. I don't think there is a conspiracy behind the scenes.

            • 16 Years
            6 years, 7 months ago

Not so much a conspiracy, more just manipulation:

"Hey let's not let Abraham drop this week"

            "ok"

I'm unaware of any other fantasy game with price values where the movement isn't a known quantity for all playing.

It's so easily fixed as well it's laughable: All players change price once per Gameweek, at the conclusion of the GW, based on performance, NOT ownership.

There was once. Does it not make more sense to take an algorithm that already exists and to tweak it than to move every player price around manually?

Abraham was the most owned player at ~45% ownership and he’s now 32% owned but no price change since his original drop

FWIW Vardy and Lundstram both 45% owned

      1. Railwayman
        • 13 Years
        6 years, 7 months ago

Actually he was owned just over 50% before the injury. Now he is on 31.8%. Sold by more than 1.3 mil. manager and yet his price went down only once. This is ridiculous, we should bomb FPL with questions to explain this.

Like, who didn’t actually see this coming?

Same think has happened consistently, yes consistently, with highly owned players for a long time now.

Long story short , FPL towers are manipulating his price as they have done many others in the past like Tosun for example a bit ago (dropped like 1 million in 3 weeks with 1% ownership) in order to prevent us bringing him back in cheap because his price would be way too cheap and a great deal, it's too far

Yes - it is about the relative change to ownership

for example, decreasing ownership by 25% FROM THE CURRENT ownership will amount to a 0.1 drop.

That means for a 40% ownership player to drop by 0.1, they have to reach 30% ownership

But for a 20% ownership player to drop, they have to reach 15% ownership.

Tammy is "hopeful" to return for Villa on Wednesday. Start him and hope for the best?

    Pope
    TAA, Lunds, Soyuncu
    Mane, KDB, Alli, Tielemans (Cantwell?)
    Vardy, Jimenez, (Tammy?)

you know on the status page it says top leagues. It says 931 average for the top league, the average is no where near 931. How does this work?

It only the top 50 players in the league or something like that.

it still doesnt make any season, idk how many in that league (could be thousands) only 2 players have a score higher than 931 lol.

Having a nightmare season so could do with some help! Got 1ft and 0.1 in the bank:

    Pope (button)
    Taa soyuncu Lundstram (Tomori rico)
    Mane sterling mount Pulisic Maddison
    Vardy (c) Jimenez (Connolly)

Not too sound negative, but that Connolly benching . . You could be looking at a high scoring bench mate. It's Arsenal, with Sokratis, Mustafi and Luiz as centre backs.

See the lineup for the 8-0 win vs Watford 🙂

Sterling will obviously miss at least one game soon. Can't guarantee it won't be this one

99% of people will captain Vardy. Depends if you need to make up ground and can afford to gamble. Personally, I'm looking at Kane or Sterling for a differential..and I don't mind a gamble..

        My OR = crap.

And i can't see it going up if my captain = Vardy 🙁
(i want to captain him though)

Your ranking won't increase much if you captain Vardy, however you will also not lose too much ground. Sterling or Kane on the other hand could be a huge move, what direction I'm not too sure..haha..but that's the gamble..

OR will double of you don't captain Vardy.

I’d look for a better spot to play a differential, you are going all in on the idea that the most sure thing everyone sees is a misfire

True. If Vardy scores & I don't captain, will lose 6 on everyone. However, If Kane or Sterling scores, will gain more than I will lose by not captaining Vardy as not many people have Sterling or Kane, let alone will captain them. However, if Vardy gets a hatful against a rudderless Watford, I'm dead..Vardy is definitely the safer option..

Use the weeks where there are several options, much easier to play a differential when the rest are split

Pulisic In for Mount doesn’t seem worth a hit, but if I don’t, I’ll never do it...

I'd do that move, if the hit doesn't pay off this week it should over the next 3-4. Mount isn't nailed anymore and Pulisic is one of the first names on the team sheet

Just worried that he seems destined for a rest, perhaps Mount already had his. I don’t think Frank reads FFS.

Hes our primary goal threat at the moment, I don't see him playing CHO and Willian after we just lost

Willians rest makes he think it’s even more likely tbh. I think Frank knows he can’t run their wheels off with 3 competitions in balance. I don’t disagree at all I just think he will be content benching and using him as first sub once or twice over the holiday and throw Pedro/Willian a bone or two. That said, I think the idea that Tammy’s injury makes him more nailed is correct.

I had the same situation about 3 weeks ago with Salah -> Mane. Decided if I didn't do it for a hit, I never would. I don't regret doing it!

Pulisic much more attacking minded, and in much better form. Definitely going to be higher returns over season now he is regular starter. I'd be going for him

Prob not for a hit, but next week for rest of season. He's played a lot in last few days

    Correct bench order?

    Cantwell/Willems/Rico

Playing Tammy so very likely 1st sub will start for me.
