The fixture list for the 2020/21 Premier League season was published this morning and Fantasy Premier League looks set to kick off with a Blank Gameweek 1.

Manchester City and Manchester United will both start the season a week later following their exploits in European club competition.

Their scheduled opponents on the opening weekend, Aston Villa and Burnley, will also begin their campaigns in Gameweek 2.

Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers were in Champions League and Europa League action earlier this month but, although they have been handed a bit of an extra breather, their first fixtures still fall within Gameweek 1 and will take place on Monday 14 September.

Liverpool and Arsenal take on newly-promoted Leeds United and Fulham in two of the most eye-catching fixtures in the first round of 2020/21 matches, with Chelsea away at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Early-season interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12.0m) may well be short-lived, with the Gunners facing Fulham and West Ham United before meeting four of last season’s top five and Sheffield United between Gameweeks 3-7.

Liverpool also have a mixed start, with the visit of Marcelo Bielsa’s side followed by clashes with Chelsea and Arsenal.

Manchester City get their season underway in Gameweek 2 with a trip to Wolves, with visits of Leicester City and Arsenal to follow in Gameweeks 3 and 5.

Their cross-city rivals meanwhile follow up their Blank Gameweek 1 with a more appealing fixture against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, with matches against Brighton and Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United coming next.

Spurs have a decent start: they have six meetings against sides that finished 10th or below in their opening seven fixtures, with Championship runners-up West Bromwich Albion then up in Gameweek 8.

Wolves’ run of matches from Gameweeks 3-7 also stand out, while Chelsea will be quietly pleased with their initial schedule aside from a Gameweek 2 clash with Liverpool: the Blues take on Brighton, West Brom, Crystal Palace and Southampton in the opening five Gameweeks.

West Ham United may well be the team to avoid in the opening two months. After a favourable opening-weekend clash with Newcastle United, the Hammers then face six of last season’s top eight in quick succession.

We’ll be back later today with a more detailed inspection of the best and worst fixture schedules.

Our Season Ticker has been updated in the meantime, with Fantasy Football Scout subscribers able to sort by difficulty, attacking and defensive potential and rotation pairings.

Also check out Porstmouth Bubblejet’s fine work in identifying the clubs that rotate home and away fixtures in 2020/21.

      Very good!

I've not seen many others with Sheff Utd but, looking at first few weeks, I think they're being overlooked. Egan would be my choice too.

And I've also considered having a Utd player on the bench.

            yes like that.

Would go McCarthy to Ramsdale and Egan to KWP I think.

Cant see sheff utd with same defensive success as last season though

That's why I like Egan - feels easier to jump off a defender than a goalkeeper.

No interest in Egan at 5.0m. Better to get a 4.5m - Ayling, Taylor, KWP all pretty nice options.

I thought that too, but look at them fixtures!!! Decent goal threat and don't really fancy any other 4.5s

Ps don't need 0.5 for anything else

    McCarthy (Ryan)
    TAA - Dier - Vinagre (Ayling,Ferguson)
    Son - Mane - Auba - Loftus-cheek - Soucek
    Kane -Mitrovic (Wickham)

    0.5 itb

    what do you think?

Spurs look like the team to invest in. I'm considering now dropping TAA until I WC him in at a later date in order to get this frontline:

    Salah Aubameyang Son Armstrong
    Kane Werner Mitrovic

That looks real tasty! Requires a TAA sacrifice though...

      Not worth it

TAA is nailed and will score loads while being highly owned. You don’t want to miss the big hauls by doing Hokey Cokey.

      TAA is set and forget

Spurs hardly free flowing going forward though, you expect lots of goals, if so why?

I like Spurs but think Son benefits most from Mou's counter attacking style, Kane often has to drop back and defend while Son is on the shoulder of the last defender.

I know he scored a few goals end of last season but Spurs needed to go all out so tactics differed

That is one excellent attack! Dropping TAA last season to get Son in still haunts me though as I missed out on Trent's 24pt haul against Leicester after owning him last season. Son got a red card as well. Lesson learned. It is a risky move but I do love that attack that you've chosen

13 goals in 17 games for Mourinho and 5 goals in his last 3 games with none of them being penalties.

        His demise is greatly exaggerated...

    First draft -

    McCarthy
    TAA - Justin - Bednarek - Taylor - 4m

Best 4.5 def options? I had a few in team but all could lose place when players fit

Dallas - great stats but will he start?
    Ayling
Saliba - arsenal looking for replacement?
Vinagre - lose place when Jonny fit / new signing

I’m not a big fan of double up on Southampton defence but looks good otherwise.

However with a likely early DGW for Manchester clubs, planning 10 GWs might be too long term as most will likely WC much earlier than that. It depends on your strategy.

    How's this for a plan

    McCarthy (4.0)
    TAA • Vinagre • Saliba (Dallas • 4.0)
    Salah • Auba/Mane • Son • Ziyech • Armstrong
    Werner • Mitrovic (4.5)

After GW do Auba/Mane + Son > KDB + Rashford -4 and play 3-5-2 as below

    TAA • Vinagre • Saliba
    Salah • KDB • Rashford • Ziyech • Armstrong
    Werner • Mitrovic

It’s not like the players you have will magically stop performing after GW1 (hopefully), so I can’t see the urgency of offloading everyone and replacing with City/United asap.

Liverpool mid to United mid in GW2
Auba to City mid in GW3

      Go without City in GW2

Planning to bring just one of each as above tbf. I can always double up later when I WC during the first or second IB

If you start with Kane & Werner say then Martial and Aguero are easily reached.

Auba > a mid is obvious.

      It is tricky though.

Auba as a placeholder for 2 GWs then switch to KDB/Sterling/Bruno

I'm not. City have a nasty string of fixtures - I'll wait until after the Inty Break to consider them.
United: Bruno is on my bench. The next one I'd like to bring in is Greenwood, but I'm going to hold fire until after GW4 because the transfer window needs to close without Sancho being in the squad.
No Wc, no chips, no hits. Keep calm and be patient.

My plan is to have Greenwood on the bench. With Auba-Salah-Mane as mid, I will most likely get rid of Mane/Salah for KDB after GW1. For me, Greenwood+KDB could be essential. Foden if he plays. Fernandes is expensive, and I am not sure if he will continue as he did before summer.

The Sancho matter causes me to delay getting Greenwood until after TDD.

A naive question - a lot of mentions of BB in GW1. I normally use BB in a DGW. Does this mean the fixtures have been set up so DGWs caused by FA Cup won't happen?

Nah. I'm gonna wait for a double gameweek for BB.

Nah, it's just a strategy to get rid of BB asap.

There will definitely be DGWs down the line. People planning a GW1 BB and GW2 WC are either going to have ghost teams by October or know something about covid that we don't.

He is Chelsea’s 3rd choice forward. Basically previous season’s Batshuayi.
