The second of four Premier League matches to take place on Sunday sees Brighton and Hove Albion make the long trip north to face Newcastle United.

Kick-off at St James’ Park is at 14:00 BST.

From a Fantasy perspective, it’s probably fair to say that, in general, there is less riding on this game than in the other three fixtures today.

There is nevertheless still plenty of interest in the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.5m), Callum Wilson (£6.5m) and Mathew Ryan (£4.5m), all three of whom have double-digit ownerships in Fantasy Premier League.

That trio of players starts this afternoon, with there being only one change to the starting XIs from Gameweek 1 across the two teams combined.

Steve Bruce has unsurprisingly made no alterations to his line-up following the opening-day win over West Ham United.

That means that Ryan Fraser (£6.0m), Miguel Almiron (£6.0m) and Matt Ritchie (£5.0m) have to be content with a place among the substitutes.

Graham Potter’s only change sees Aaron Connolly (£5.5m) come in for Adam Lallana (£6.4m), with the latter having limped out of the defeat to Chelsea last Monday.

Lallana is fit enough for a place on the bench, however.

Ben White (£4.5m) has also recovered from injury and keeps his place in the back three.

There were no goals in either meeting between the two clubs last season.

Indeed, not one of the last six fixtures between Newcastle and Brighton has seen more than two goals scored.

Newcastle United XI: Darlow, Manquillo, Fernandez, Lascelles, Lewis, Hayden, Shelvey, Hendrick, Saint-Maximin, Carroll, Wilson.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Ryan, White, Dunk, Webster, Lamptey, Bissouma, Alzate, March, Trossard, Maupay, Connolly.

I think I'm just fine with this:

-4 Auba, Davies, ASM -> KDB, Saiss, Podence

    McCarthy

    TAA Saiss Shaw

    Salah KDB Son Podence

    Werner DCL Adams

    Steer; Justin, Bissouma, Ferguson.

    1. Nightrain_
      6 years, 1 month ago

Would love to do that but need -8 so i think gonna hold on to Davies 1 more game. If he's not playing then I'll swallow it and got Mitchell or Bissouma coming in

but before hitting the button, maybe wait until Podence has played. It's not funny if you've brought him in and he's also injured

    B) Saiss / Harrison / Jimenez

Any reason why ASM was subbed?

Done his ankle giving the penalty away.

So I'm stuck between going with KDB or Salah in place of Aub and then I'm imagining Aubameyang scoring against Liverpool and realising that it's Southampton at Home up next. Would it be madness to stick with him at least for the next 2... City's fixture isn't exactly an easy one and Liv ofc have Arsenal. More information = better, right?

    1. LSK
      6 years, 1 month ago

Sheffield Utd at home after Liverpool, not Southampton, if that changes things for you.

  8. Spab

All of these hits and wildcards, and Man City haven't kicked a ball yet. As tempted as I am to WC, I'm going to hold for now. Did Doherty offer any threat for Spurs?

    1. No Professionals
      6 years, 1 month ago

I don’t need to see Man City too know how good KDB is

Would have had an assist for Kane's first disallowed goal.

    3. Andy_Social

      nope

    4. Rainer
      6 years, 1 month ago

Millimeters away an assist for one of Kane’s disallowed goal.

    5. F_Ivanovic
      6 years, 1 month ago

Assist for potential 1st goal that was offside. Looked attacking and they've got good fixtures. I'm also thinking of getting rid though just because I want Lamptey and also have a super expensive defence of double pool.

      1. Spab
        6 years, 1 month ago

I went big at the back and have Doherty, and triple Liverpool defence. It seems that if ever there was a year for big at the back, it isn't this one .

    6. Nightrain_
      6 years, 1 month ago

I'll say have faith on Doherty. He looks very attacking (GW1 almost got a goal and this GW2 an assist for a disallowed goal) and with Bale and Reguillon coming in, I think they'll be even better

  9. Salan
    6 years, 1 month ago

I start to rethink the big-name defence strategy.

How long until we see the team from the arse end of nowhere that was made this week with SonTC?

    1. Alisson WondHaaland

Son TC, DCL, Kane, Zaha, Ings. I can see it happening tbh

My cash league, kane triple captain, son vice captain. Damn it

  11. Alisson WondHaaland
    6 years, 1 month ago

Want to try saving a WC, any of these worth a hit?

    A) ASM to Podence
    B) Davies to Saiss
    C) Ayling to Lamptey
    D) Mccarthy to another 4.5 or 5.0

    1. Nightrain_
      6 years, 1 month ago

Highly probably that I'll do ASM to Podence for -4 cause spent the FT to ship Auba for KDB

Davies for me is also an issue but hoping he's gonna play 1 more game but if not, then Mitchell or Bissouma will coming in

Try to hold my WC for GW5

      1. Alisson WondHaaland
        6 years, 1 month ago

Keep KWP or Lewis on WC if you had to pick

    1. Alisson WondHaaland

Lewis probably, what other 4.5s do you have?

  15. Red Red Robins
    6 years, 1 month ago

Who do you think will score more this year?
    Jimenez or Martial?
Im thinking Jimenez and to save 0.5 as they have no Europe this year, but having no Martial leaves me with no Man Utd?

    1. Flair
      6 years, 1 month ago

      Jimmy because penalties

    2. Volley127

      Agreed with Jimmy.

Nailed, less likely to be subbed early, consistent, pens, no Europe and better immediate fixtures

If no improvement from Havertz, then does Havertz + Wilson > Rodriguez + DCL -4 sound sensible? No other Everton at the moment.

  19. thepancakeman123

    A) McCarthy + Arnold + Saiss
    B) Patricio + Robertson + Walker-Peters

How bad did ASM injury look?

    1. Brosstan

Looked more like he was lazy and faked injury because he had to mark Lamptey

        Can you blame him though

    McCarthy
    TAA Doherty Egan Justin
    Auba Salah Son ASM
    Werner Adams
    (Nyland KWP Stephens Brewster)

    2 FT 1.0 itb

    Any suggestions for GW3?
Planning to get rid of Auba and upgrade Adams too

  27. Balls of Steel
    6 years, 1 month ago

    Newcastle are a shambles!!

  28. Rassi
    6 years, 1 month ago

    McCarthy (Steer)
    TAA - Robbo - Lamptey - KWB - Mitchell
    Auba - Havertz - Barnes - JWP - Soucek
    Werner - Martial - DCL

    2 FT, 0 itb

Not an optimal start with no Salah nor Son/Kane. What would you do? Definitely saving WC for later. Currently thinking Auba - JWP --> Sterling - Podence and maybe adding Barnes -> Hames for -4.

  29. Strchld

Players I want to get out.

    ASM, Davies, McCarthy, Adams, Auba.
