FFS Cup

The winners of our FFS Cup competitions revealed

Triple Gameweek 35 saw the final and third-place play-off of both our FFS Open Cup and FFS Members Cup play out, with £600-worth of prizes up for grabs in total.

The quick turnarounds between Gameweeks 35, 36 and 37 left us short of time but the respite afforded by the longer gap to Gameweek 38 allows to recap what happened in each tourmanent.

FFS OPEN CUP

Genovoze is the latest name on the FFS Open Cup trophy.

He won by a single point in a titanic 133-132 battle with Mince n Tatties, despite the latter playing his Bench Boost.

Genovoze’s captaincy of Bruno Fernandes was one key factor, with his opponent handing the armband to Mohamed Salah.

Mince n Tatties could also point to Ollie Watkins’ red card as a hard-luck story, along with a surprise no-show from Joel Veltman.

The third-place play-off was won by Jambo17, who won 112-106 against FPL Bielsa.

FPL Bielsa actually had fewer blanking players in Gameweek 35 but his non-ownership of Fernandes was pivotal, with Jambo17 making the Manchester United playmaker his skipper.

FFS MEMBERS CUP

The 2020/21 FFS Members Cup champion is Mohd Rodzi, who beat EUG 132-121.

With their two backlines scoring a similar number of points and each manager owning Bruno Fernandes (c), Mohamed Salah, Son Heung-min and Kelechi Iheanacho, Mohd Rodzi’s victory owed much to a Mason Greenwood haul and a more modest seven points from Jamie Vardy.

EUG’s faith in ‘single Gameweeker’ Harry Kane wasn’t rewarded, while James Ward-Prowse also flattered to deceive despite having two fixtures.

The third-place play-off was won by Rossaldinho, who triumphed 122-100 over SUNFLOWER

The latter played their Wildcard but a double-up on the Manchester United defence failed to pay dividends, while Ollie Watkins’ aforementioned dismissal was another FPL gut-punch.

    Odds of playing on:
    Struijk (50%)
    Shaw (10%)
    Foden (50%)
    Bale (75%)
    Greenwood (50%)
With my best guess in brackets. Any better ideas?

Put Siggy on the bench and start Nacho. Bring in Dallas for either AWB (chance he might not play?) or Keane (City away).

    B. Davis to Bamford and bench Bruno

Similar to me but better set up I'd say. A or B, maybe consider benching Greenwood not Bruno.

I just can't see Bruno being risked. Europa final 3 days after GW38 and 2nd place secure. Greenwood most likely won't start the final

I'm leaning towards that move. Still considering Bamford in for a hit. I expect Leeds to go big against a poor WBA

      2. FPL_Motty
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        2 months, 4 days ago

I don't think Bamford is less likely to score because he did last week. Bamford is the no.1 striker option in the final week for me. Definitely worth a -4, Leeds will go gung-ho against WB and WB also have Big Sam saying he's leaving so thats a kick in the teeth, they will be demotivated.

        1. Tonyawesome69
          • 2 Years
          2 months, 4 days ago

It'll be a tough decision to go with either Bamford or Antonio. We can create as many narratives as we want but I think we should look at recent stats. WBA have conceded 50 SOT across 6GWs. SHU next with 37

        2. Swissbob
          • 8 Years

You might be right but he’s only scored twice in his last 7 home games and would need to score twice to justify a hit. Odds against IMO.

If Greenwood doesn’t start you’ve got a decent Holding fixture in reserve

Do you think Arsenal will keep a CS vs Brighton? Holding/Greenwood vs Bamford in for a hit

        1. Swissbob
          • 8 Years
          2 months, 4 days ago

Greenwood is in good form. If he doesn’t play i’d guess a Holding 6 pointer at home to Brighton has more chance than a Bamford 10 pointer against an improving West Brom. But it’s only 4 points for a hit and Bamford would be more fun to own!

I'm trying to claw back 30 points. 2 FTs

    Kane + Son > ?? ??

Forwards from: Werner, Aubameyang, Rodrigo, Jesus, Iheanacho
Mids from: Pulisic, Pepe, Raphinha, De Bruyne, Torres

I'm thinking I gotta go all-in on either Arsenal or Chelsea and hope they score a hatful.

Auba + Pepe or Werner + Pulisic. Chelsea looking the safer punts.

    1. Tonyawesome69

      Werner Pulisic for me

Swapping Kane or Nacho seems a bit sideways but he's the only good option from that striker group I think.

Alot of good mid choice though, pulisic / havertz (if fit), KDB or torres look good..

Personally I'm not sure ditching Kane or Son is where I'd look for a differential move this week though, I know its the last week and all but I can see that Leicester spurs game being really open. Leicester have to chase Liverpools goal difference which might make them push forward and spurs hit them on the counter, and we all know who scores when spurs counter..

Bamford / Antonio not in that list because you already own? Those would be my top 2 strikers

Yes if this was keeping Ings for 10 weeks and he blanks all 10 times. Expecting a different result in no.11 is a bit mad. But Ings has proven his worth, and 2 games is a tiny sample size. I think Ings is a great option against WH

          Errr.... No?

Sometimes it’s madness to keep doing the same thing and expecting the same result

It’s very dependent on what the “thing” is and what the “result” was

I have Fabianski and Forster as keepers. What do we think are the chances of Forster playing, really don't want to use my only FT on a keeper?

Leading by 16. Opponent has DCL, Bale, and Greenwood as differentials:

      Martinez
      Shaw, Rudiger, TAA
      Salah, Son, Pereira, Lingard, Raphinha
      Kane, Antonio

      Areola, Cresswell, Watkins, Targett

True, but those are his past points. He got a rest midweek, when he came on he looked sharp and the only likely player to score for saints. West Ham have an awful defensive record, dont think theyve kept a clean sheet in like 10gws. Ings is a v.good option still for 38

They won't play against making that participation money and squads are big enough to be able to do that.
