Im a little wary of Leeds atm though. Mediocre fixtures to start off, lots of injuries on the backend, no Kalvin Phillips yet, just dont think its optimal to be triple up on them

Could someone explain to me, where all that love for Toney is coming from?

He had a fixtures againts teams that doesn't let him put almost anything past them. I can't even imagine that he'll do well against teams like Arsenal, Villa, Brighton. Just check the xGA stat's of that teams. Then after that run of fixtures he'll have a pretty bad run.

So why he had a 30%+ of ownership?

It's a bit cringe for me

FOMO. But history shows strikers from promoted teams score 50% of goals they scored in Championship- so can perhaps expect 15-16 goals which would be good return. Also on penalties and good assist record

Yes, that's the average. We tend to remember the flops and not think so much about the positive cases like Bamford (17 league goals after 16 the previous season in the Championship) that bring the average up.

A lot of promoted teams that have done really badly didn't have a prolific striker to begin with, or their prolific striker who helped get them promoted was only on loan from somewhere else, and had to be replaced with a worse option.

Bamford not in our mind? I think the opposite.

People keep thinking he can replicate Bam, and people love cheap striker.

Thats why all of u buy Toney.

Good one like Bam, even Cole and Lambert is there. Dont forget the failures too.

People overhype him because he get 30_+ goals in Championship and people love cheap player assuming he can get 10 -14 goals.

They are so scared to ditch TAA but get Toney.

      Yes, fixtures not great.
Not for me now. Unless something magically happen.

You are underestimation Brentford and the importance of budget. A 6.5 enabler with potential like he has will always be a good option.

Brentford have been a fantastic passing and attacking team in the Championship for a while now, they go for it and score goals. The big problem for them is that they have always had to sell their star players each season, but now they have eventually made it to the PL.

I expect them to go down fighting but their main striker should get 15 goals for them and at 6.5 it is a great option

Brentford has an analytical approach to player selection. They've produced 3x successful strikers in Maupay, Watkins, & now Toney.

Also, there are several examples of talismans from the newly promoted teams coming up & performing relatively well.

eg. Ollie Watkins, Charlie Austin, Patrick Bamford, Watkins, Rickie Lambert, Christian Benteke, etc.

All in all, Toney's low risk due to his price with a lot of upside & it's why we find him in many squads.

        How many Watkins?
Watkins is in another situation. He didnt play for Brentford. He play for Villa, better team.

Leeds is one exceptional because they get world class coach in Bielsa. They doesnt afraid to attack. What Brentford's coach have? Please enlighten me.

No offence. Just a discussion. For another Ricky Lambert they are always a failure too.

With that fixtures and 50/50 possibility, I think it best for me to wait and see.

Its not Toney get fixtures like Villa until have to get it from first week. Can always get in maybe gw2 vs Palace if he lively against Arsenal plus White gw1 or wait until gw10.

          - Watkins
          Ollie spent 3x yrs @ Brentford - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ollie_Watkins#Brentford
Showing that the club has a very successful scouting/track record at identifying talent.

          - Leeds
Drawing parallels to show that promoted Chamionship strikers can & do make an impact.
It's why some people are also putting faith in Toney.

          - Wait and see
OP asked, "Why do so many have Toney?"
          I outlined the 'Why'.
I admit there's a counterargument to not having him.

I know he play Brentford before. But he success get a lot of goals last season because he play for Villa. A team can help players do well. That what I mean,

Lewandowski is a great player . But he play for Poland. How he can win World Cup? Dont u understand?

Toney is a good player. But can Brehtford did what they did in Championship? If the team or teammates struggles to feed him ball, he cant score too.

He is not Messi type who dribble from his own half and score .

Lol.. u take percentage why so many have Toney as an argument? 😀

A lot of casual did and I know 'expert' did that too but I dont take that as a reason that he is good. I'm not a sheep. If u want to be like sheep , just go ahead. But not me.

Maybe I will buy Toney too, but not from gw1. I'll go with proven attackers.

Toney is still a good shout even I tought that he is not the best for now 😀 Cheers

Please reread what I've said because you don't seem to understand.

              Question was, 'Why Toney?'

So, I listed reasons 'why' some people chose Toney. That it.

Now, you can agree or disagree that's up to you. I don't care if you want to believe in 'why' or not.

On a front 7 of this atm to really try to maximize the first 6/7 GWs:

Tbh I will probably play Amartey over Deeney. I would rather save the 1m and not get Toney, and I keep telling myself not to have 4.5m Obafemi.

Wish we had some more secure bench option forwards.

        Amartey should start

        Brownhill is a 4.5 gem

Not sure on Omo yet as 4.0 starter perhaps

Don't think anyone knows, Foster started last season first choice but was injured and didn't get back in to the team until the last game of the season.

Bach was at the Euros so came back to training late

Coufal over Cresswell cause of the slight price difference, is that why he is in a lot of teams?

I would go Cresswell all day personally

Cresswell is who I am with too. Just wasn't sure on the coufal option. Must just be cause that little but cheaper then

When West Ham played a 5ATB, Coufal at wing back posted better stats than Cresswell at LCB last season.

If West Ham play a 4ATB, Cresswell is probably worth the extra 0.5 but Coufal is still a good option

    Batman (Fosters)
    TAA Shaw Stones James (Amartey)
    Salah Bruno Barnes Raph ESR
    Ings Antonio (fodder)

Hybrid 442 - 352 fixture dependent, as I'd want to be covering Stones (tot GW1), James (liv3) and ESR (CHE2, mci3) but all of them are the obvious value options just the fixtures and/or Euros delays convincing people that the likes of Digne are superior.

played 2 half matches so far. watkins a fine choice as well.

How are your Kane drafts going?

    Here is my latest.

    Sanchez (Foster)
    TAA Shaw White (Ayling Amartey)
    Salah Bruno Buendia* ESR Mbeumo
    Kane* Toney (Obafemi)

I am expecting Kane (if he does move to City) to move on or near TDD, so plan is to have money itb and start with Mane/Mahrez & Antonio and use 2 tfrs:
    Mane/Mahrez => Buendia/6.5
    Antonio => Kane

    Thoughts?

Maupay is another championship striker type who is so wasteful. With 6+XGI , he get 1 goal and 1 assist.

Even Potter didnt start him last night. Connoly start.

5.5 if any managers want him.

This is very close to my no Bruno draft. I have Sarr instead of Buendia so that's not two post GW3 transfers to make but I prefer Buendia for the first 3. I also have Wilson instead of Antonio but that could go either way. I lastly have Amartey instead of Omo. What's your plan with Ings and Buendia post GW 3 - double transfer?

Yeah it was great to hear the thinking around his selections. I found the 2 x 5.5 value mids very interesting as it allows upgrades elswhere - bit of a risk but you would expect on balance more points - but the 3-5-2 formation is quite flexible if you go with the line of thinking the next bandwagon will be in the mids.

B for me. Could also be ESR.
