Son Heung-min (£10.1m) and Mason Greenwood (£7.6m) both scored on Sunday, while Chris Wood (£6.9m) and Patrick Bamford (£7.9m) also found the back of the net to open their 2021/22 accounts.

However, it was a day to forget for those who handed Bruno Fernandes (£12.1m) the armband, as the Portuguese picked up a booking and returned just two Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points at Molineux.

Our usual, more detailed Scout Notes will follow for all of the day’s games but in the meantime, our resurrected Scoreboard series rounds up the key goings-on.

The graphics below are taken from LiveFPL, Ragabolly’s excellent and ever-expanding website, and our own Premium Members Area.

GOALS, ASSISTS, PROJECTED BONUS

KEY FPL TALKING POINTS

  • Son produced his second double-digit haul of the season against Watford, as his first-half free-kick made it three wins from three for Tottenham Hotspur. The South Korean international has now scored 10 goals, supplied seven assists and picked up 20 FPL bonus points in his last 19 home matches.
  • Following their 1-0 win, Spurs are yet to concede a goal this season. However, they have given up 31 shots – only Burnley (42), Arsenal (39) and Leicester City (32) have allowed more.
  • Harry Kane (£12.3m) made his return to Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting XI, but produced just one FPL point as he missed a couple of late openings on his first Premier League appearance of the season.
  • Daniel Bachmann (£4.5m) made seven saves in Gameweek 3, compared to just one across the opening two matches. Moussa Sissoko (£4.5m) also made his Watford debut, and as a result, hands FPL managers another budget midfielder to consider.
  • Wood and Bamford both found the back of the net at Turf Moor, their first goals of 2021/22.
  • Following today’s win, Manchester United are now unbeaten in their last 28 Premier League away matches (W18 D10), which is a new record for the longest unbeaten away run in English Football League history
  • Greenwood’s winner means that he has now scored three goals in as many games this season, and is three FPL points ahead of teammate Fernandes.
  • Paul Pogba (£7.7m) performed in a deeper midfield role at Molinuex today, which meant he only touched the ball once in Wolves’ penalty area and registered a single goal attempt.

Paul Pogba’s touch heatmap in Gameweeks 1+2 (left) and Gameweek 3 (right)

INJURY WATCH

Sean Dyche made just one change to his Burnley starting XI, with Ashley Westwood (£5.4m) recovering from a toe injury to replace Jack Cork (£4.5m) in the Clarets engine room.

Diego Llorente (£4.5m) returned from injury for Leeds United, but Junior Firpo (£4.9m) and Mateusz Klich (£5.5m) were both missing with Covid.

For Wolves, Willy Boly (£4.9m) and Daniel Podence (£5.5m) returned as substitutes, while Edinson Cavani (£8.5m) arrived off the bench for Manchester United on 53 minutes, having been granted additional leave time on the back of his Copa America exploits.

STAT WATCH – GAMEWEEK 3

Following today’s matches, Wolves duo Adama Traoré (£6.0m) and Raúl Jiménez (£7.4m) both rank amongst the top five players for shots, with 12 each, over the opening three rounds.

The pair also feature amongst the division’s top chance creators, which does suggest that they could offer value from Gameweek 4 onwards, when their fixtures ease.

Traoré now trails only Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) for penalty area touches, with 27, a total he shares with Michail Antonio (£7.9m).

    Potential GW 7 WC

    Mendy - Gunn
    Dias - James - Dier - Lowton - Livramento
    Salah - Son - Raphinha - ESR - Allan
    Lukaku - Bamford - Jimenez

Really think holding it for the likes of double Chelsea defense, lukaku, son, Spurs and city def, double Leeds attack, Jimenez etc could be the play.

Get rid of Ronaldo, Greenwood, TAA , deadwoood in defense, West Ham attack with Europa around.

    Thoughts?

        What’s the issue with ESR?

Very cheap, good fixtures, full strength team should be back, looked the most threatening Arsenal player.

Also, good replacement at that price point if he fails. E.g. Gray,

I get why you picked ESR, but I would advise you to look further. Arsenal are spinning and ESR, althought a technically good player, won't pick up to many points in my opinion.

No WCers going with double Leeds attack, Jimenez, Son or city defense either.

Leeds have dreamy fixtures attacking wise

I've been trying to find a proper mid option from Adama, Sarr, Torres, Gray, Benrahma and probably can resist the Adama temptation.

Watching Wolves been fun recent weeks and they have to finally find the end product.

Thoughts? Is there much between the mids listed above ?

Salah • Torres • Jota • Raph in a 343 is the best midfield in my opinion. Not a fan of all the 5.5-6.5 options except Raph

I've already wildcarded, but if I was doing it now, I'd be considering Gray as an enabler to cram in the Big Boys. He should be nailed too. If you go for the likes of Torres, you have to be sure you've got strong bench cover and not just diddly 4m defenders.

I really like Sarr. Good upcoming fixtures, the team's talisman and I think the signing of Sissoko will give him a little more freedom to attack.

Although this being said I already have Benrahma and currently have Gray in too as well on my WC, but I am considering just keeping Antonio and getting rid of Benrahma with West Ham getting used to the European games soon and supposedly close to a deal for Vlasic which will surely move Benrahma wide.

Have you already got Raph? I’m going back and forth between him and Traore. Both look like they could do well with the easier fixtures to come. Traore ahead on the stats front this season, but RMT for the next six has Raph we’ll ahead despite the Liverpool game. Tough decision!..

What to do here? Got 2 FT

    Team:
    Sanchez
    TAS Shaw Ayling
    Salah Bruno Gwood Benrahma
    Ings Antonio Toney
    ___
    Steele White* Tsimikas* Brownhill

    0.8 itb
    *Flagged/not in favour

    A) Ings + Tsimikas -> DCL + Livramento/Duffy
    B) Ings + Fernandes -> Ronaldo + F. Torres
    C) Something else

Something else. Like to bank on Tsimikas before the drop. Leaning towards A. Worried about Greenwood though. Will he Play? 3 goals in 3 games could/should justify playing him over one of Rashford/Sancho. Not sure Ferran Torres is nailed either. What happens when KDB is back?

Thanks Camzy. Like the thoughts of Having Ronaldo. Easy switch to Lukaku in gw7 as well. Would you go for Jota instead of Torres? Requires a hit, but certain to start (if Firmino is ruled out) and also allow me to bank on Tsimikas and play Duffy instead of Ayling. Seems like a good hit to me

      Focus on fixing problems.

I was considering Ings, Barnes and Tsimi to DCL, Jota ( If Firmino is out) and Semedo(-4). Problem is if Firmino is confirmed out I don’t like Salah as a captaincy option and if Ronaldo is back I feel he’s a much better captaincy than Bruno. I want Benrahma out GW5 too and would like to switch formation to get DCL. Feel like using the WC now to get ahead of the curve

Making him 1.0 more than Lukaku might be a bit of a stretch when Kaku got 34 goal involvements last season to Ronaldo’s 32

Like Varane was just completed right before he walked onto the pitch?

No, it's because he hasn't been 100% signed yet. Medical was still to go which was completed over the weekend.

Everyone hyping up Ronaldo as best cptain, but ignoring fully fit non-international duty Salah against Leeds.

Newcastle will most likely play 5 at the back and try to frustrate United in the hope of grinding out a draw.

He's on my watchlist. The only doubt I have is that he doesn't seem to want to try and beat a man and get a cross in; he'd rather keep possession and recycle the ball.

Difficult to look past Trent, Shaw and Alonso/James. Then there's two from Duffy/Livramento/Williams, or even a Spurs defender.

Would you use wildcard if this was your team?
With 2 free transfers and 0.5 available, I'm just leaning towards using them or maybe -4. Wilson & White will be fine in two weeks, my biggest worry is Mahrez ('s playing time) to be honest.

    Bachmann - Foster
    Alexander-Arnold - Wan-Bissaka - White - Tsimikas - Livramento
    Salah - Fernandes - Mahrez - Benrahma - Brownhill
    Antonio - Wilson - Toney

I woulnd't wc that. Just selling Mahrez is your top priority. Other than that it looks fine.

nah, even Mahrez is a keep for one more week imo - although I admit I'm not confident about it

He looked good. Can forgive him not scoring when AWB slid in and blocked it, but then shot tamely with only the keeper to beat later on. Was subbed shortly after.

Cheers, sounds like I might have to take a -4 to move Tsimikas out as part of Bruno>Jota, Ings>Ronaldo, Tsimikas>Semedo(?)

If you have 2 x FT's then yes, I think that's worth a -4 as Tsimikas will probably need tobe moved on sooner or later.

    Very early planning.

    Bachmann
    TAA Veltman Shaw
    Salah Bruno Son Raphinha Benrahma
    Antonio Toney

    Foster*; Livramento, Ayling, Scarlett

    2ft and 0.1 itb. Bruno and Toney -> Ronaldo/Lukaku and 5.5-6.5 mid?

Would you rather have in your team:

    A. a bad finisher that gets plenty of chances.

    B. a clinical player that gets few chances.

I like the question. I'd rather have A, so long as he isn't Traore bad 🙂

Son/Kane are completely off my radar with Nuno as their manager, for example.

    3. @persecuted_by_mods

Depends how clinical and how wasteful and amount of chances

I was thinking more in terms of A Bamford and B Ings. A for me, but of course it does depend on the specific identities.
