Norwich v Man Utd team news: Rangnick names unchanged starting XI

Norwich City v Manchester United brings Saturday’s Premier League action to a close, with kick-off at Carrow Road at 17:30 GMT.

The team news is nice and simple for the visitors as Ralf Rangnick names an unchanged team from last weekend’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Cristiano Ronaldo was transferred in by just under 450,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers ahead of Friday’s deadline and is the second most-captained player of Gameweek 16.

Diogo Dalot and David de Gea also featured in the top 10 most transferred-in players of this current Gameweek.

Dean Smith has made five changes from Sunday’s defeat at Spurs, with Lukas Rupp, Dimitris Giannoulis, Ozan Kabak, Przemyslaw Placheta and Josh Sargent coming into the side.

Budget FPL defender Brandon Williams misses out as he is ineligible to face his parent club, while Ben Gibson, Pierre Lees-Melou, Adam Idah and Andrew Omobamidele also drop out of the side.

Dean Smith reported injury and illness issues concerning four unnamed players in his pre-match presser, and Gibson and Omobamidele are indeed not part of the matchday squad.

      Ronaldo is a conundrum. I don't own him and after watching the match today, I was not convinced to spend 12.4m on him, especially since Salah will always remain my captain before AFCON. However, teams around me will be definitely getting him in after the goal today. And that would mean he will always remain a threat and can sink my rank with a big haul. On the contrary, if I spend the money well on a more balanced team, I can improve my rank.

      He is a conundrum because I have no idea which one has higher probability -- Ronaldo scoring a hattrick in one of GW17-20 or my balanced team outscoring Ronaldo in these gameweeks.

        Salah will be AFCON soon enough. CR& output only likely to improve as Ragnik settles Team. CR7 focus of most attack going forward especially at home and on Pens! I'm keeping. OH plus great fixtures and the man is a machine.

          Those are some valid points as well. Never denied that. The problem is not Ronaldo himself as a player, but the cost, which would force a weakened bench during the xmas fixtures.

          For example, with Ronaldo I might have to play with a bench of Livramento, Gilmour, Duffy; which is far from ideal. I would prefer a bench of Bowen, Dalot, Livramento.

        Thing is with Ronaldo is that he is 36. With the Xmas fixtures you wouldn’t expect him to start every match.

        Depends on what a balanced team looks like. Will be a lot of rotation over the next month. If your balanced team looks like Mount/Jota/Silva etc can you rely on them to play every week?

        So few choices at the moment.

          Balanced would mean a strong playing bench, who can score more than 2 points. I have a template team, but the template is returning the points. Next week however, there are already 3 red flags: Vardy, Cancelo, Duffy.

          I can still field 11 players and have 2FTs if I want to sell Vardy and Duffy.

        Depends on team value if he is too expensive or not. I have him and still feel like my team is too balanced, since all Dennis hauls seem to be left on my bench. (My own fault believing that Jota either starts or doesn't feature at all.)
