Fantasy Football Scout member Obay Eid, aka FPL Milanista, is currently ranked 114th in the world in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), having finished 473rd in 2020/21.

With three other top 10k ranks to his name, he sits 18th in our Live Hall of Fame.

Obay also posted finishes of 141st in last season’s UCL Fantasy and 668th in Euro 2020 Fantasy, having finished second in the world in the 2016 edition of that tournament.

With Wildcards and Free Hits being deployed elsewhere in the FPL community, here he outlines his plans for a Bench Boost in Gameweek 29.

Gameweeks are moving in quick succession and this FPL campaign has been quite different to its predecessor seasons. Double Gameweeks are no longer scarce while we are also getting two Free Hit chips to employ across the campaign – unusual times! If planning ahead was key for success in a “normal” FPL season, you can imagine how vital it is now given all the changing circumstances.

So, let’s get down to business. Chip strategies have been talked a lot about recently and as we are all aware, there is nothing called “right or wrong” when it comes to such decisions. Every team has its own structure, and every chip strategy has its merits. In the next few paragraphs, I’ll briefly go through the chip strategy that helped me reach a rank of 117th overall and move on to my initial thoughts on my Gameweek 28 Bench Boost squad.

Morning. My plan before the Chelsea DGW was just to move Weghorst to Jiminez. Should I stick with this idea or maybe look to bring in Rudiger or Mount for -4?

    Foster
    TAA AitNouri Digne
    Salah Coutinho Raphinha JWP
    Kane Weghorst Broja

    DDG Cancelo Bowen White

Who would be your priority for GW28
    Broja or Son?

Broja has a DGW so it seems logical to get Son for his DGW a week later.

Single GW vs DGW is now like
    Form vs Fixtures

What do you think about Vardy as an option? Is it too early after coming back?
Two nice fixs in his next 3. No DGW though. How would you compare him to Kane Jimi Broja in potential for pts in the next 3 GWs?

The man was struggling to play two games before his long term injury. If Leicester go far in Europa but drop away from European places can see him being rested a lot in league

    Hey guys,

Obvious move here is Dalot > Chelsea defender, I can only really afford Thiago Silva (1.4m in the bank). Would you move anyone else out to enable me to bring in Rudiger, for example Maupay > Hwang?

    Ramsdale
Taa - Cancelo - Robbo - Ait Nouri

    Broja - Maupay

Not for me, but then I’d just bench Weghorst and get a wolves defender instead. Depends on your team, given his goal scoring record this season I don’t think he’s worth -4.

Not sure what ££ you have, but Dalot --> Rudiger and/or Weghorst --> Broja?

It doesn't look great going into the next 3 gameweeks.
      3 hammers v pool
Out of form ronaldo v city
FWIW I would wildcard (after seeing tonights fa cup results, which will give a better indication of gw30) and try and set a reasonable team for dgw28 & 29, and have some gw30 players on your bench. I think the key is to play it as a 3 week mini season and not be expecting to field too many dgw'ers just because they have a double. Judge it over the 3 weeks. There is also the added complication of the latter stages of the European competitions.
So good luck whatever you choose and " Marching on together".

there isnt a cheaper alternative who is a starter for their team, so would essentially become fodder and then 1 less bench player when i play BB.

I think the Liverpool double up at the back is hurting you - plus you will be benching one of the Liverpool players, Cancelo or Rudiger each week (or having to bench two from that front 8) I'd downgrade VVD and upgrade Dennis

              1. tommo-uk-
                • 13 Years

Plan was to downgrade VVD after 30 to allow me to have 3 Pool players for DGW29.

                So potentially what your saying is;

                Downgrade VVD
                Upgrade Dennis
Bring in Mount for one of my midfielders

Will have a mess around and see what that looks like.

I'm running with Weghorst if he has a GW30 - yeah he has been a bit rubbish this week, but £6.5m nailed striker, lots of games to come and a nice GW29 fixture. Can comfortably bench him this week too.

                      Dennis to Weghorst

Will he play then? Tempted to go 2 Chelsea defence now rather than risk a benching.

I'd lose Raph in a heartbeat. Don't rate Leeds choices at all given how badly the team is playing as a whole.

I'd be interested to see what the new manager does with Gelhardt. If he plays more with Bamford out, Raph could benefit from having a proper striker again.

    Captain:

    A) Adams (avl, NEW)
    B) Watkins (SOT, lee)
    C) Raphinha (lei, AVL)
    D) Jimenez (CPA, WAT)

Out of those, D, but do you think he could get more than Salah?
Im really tempted by Jimi but they dont score enough

        Actually, probably over thinking here
But if Jimi scores in both games, high chance of him getting at least 2 baps per game, ok now im thinkng Jimi over Salah 🙁

Wolves score so few per game though.

I like Adams' recent form but could Broja come back into form and steal away some of Che's returns

One thing is for sure is am steering clear of Wolves assets wherever possible. Defensive stats are deteriorating and how Jiminez is finishing top of Scouts points projections is beyond me given he is averaging about 3 points per game for the season. His stats are lousy as well, as are Wolves attacking stats. They are also the hardest watch in the league.

Fixtures are turning so I think a defender or Sa provides value. Agree about staying away from forwards, although can see Hwang as a good balance between low cost but high volume of minutes with the dearth of forward options this year

Yes, Sa would be the one I would consider, although have Ramsdale and Foster so no point going there.

You are also right with the dearth of forward options which maybe why anything above 3 points per game with a double game week gets considered.

I had Hwang after is early season mini hauls and it was a painful own !

Former Hwang owner myself which is why I'm only going there if it means he is benched most weeks.

Torn between Ramsdale and Sa. Both rotate well with Foster when they have difficult fixtures. Only on Sa because I think he has a better double than Ramsdale

Defence is still solid imo, conceding 1 to strong attacking team like Leicester & West Ham doesnt concern me & fixtures are great. Jimenez isnt that exciting long-term but fine option for 28 & 30

Stuck on this myself. Didnt really plan to keep Robbo beyond this week (can see Liverpool conceding more regularly in upcoming fixtures) & I need to downgrade him for midfield upgrades soon. But he's in such good form & I'm not convinced Chelsea CBs outscore him over next 2 GW. If James were properly fit that would have been my move

Good to bench boost this week with no hits?

    Sá* / Foster*
TAA / Robbo / Kilman* / Digne* / [CHE defender]*
    Salah / Son* / Raphinha* / Saka / Ramsey*
    Jiménez* / Watkins* / [Broja]*

    * = DGW players
    [] = free transfers

Remaining chips are BB, FH2, TC

LIV double up at the back might up risky. And CHE DGW not yet confirmed. But yer, could definitely BB that!

20 points is a minimum you'd want from a BB (maybe 25+ this season with all the DGW options).

Apparently he was close to playing last GW as they said they would make a late call. So before pressers I'm assuming he's not far off and they have two DGWs to come so I'm keeping for the time being.

Ok, makes sense. It's just that sometimes managers come out with that "late call" or "touch and go" BS when in reality the injuries are a lot more serious... but you're right need to wait for presser

I am on WC and have two spots in midfield open. Current squad:
    Dubravka (Foster)
    TAA, Rudiger, Livra (Cancelo, Schar)
    Salah, Willock, Ramsey, __________, ___________
    Kane, C. Adams (Hwang)

18.1m bank to spend on those two.
    Current shorlist is:
    Maddison
    Mane
    Jota
    Dias
    Maddison
    Saka
    Kulu

I could only have Mane if I take Kulu. Or if I downgrade C. Adams to Broja up front.
    Other options are all interchangeale.

    Any suggestions for the slots?

Got a good team here but not very heavy on the doubles

    Foster**
    Cancelo, TAA, Robertson, Ait Nouri**,
    Saka, Salah, Buendia**, Foden,
    Kane, Broka**

    Ramsdale, King, Bowen, White

Am thinking Foden & Buendia to Raphinha and Willock for a -4?

Would you get with priority a Southampton DGw player (Broja) or a Spurs player (Son) in 28?

          GW 28 thoughts:

By doing De Gea Ronaldo King to Sa Jimi Broja (-8) I can get:

          Sa*
          TAA Robbo Cancelo Livra*
          Salah Foden Saka Ramsey*
          Jimi* Broja*

          Steer Tierney King Scarlett

and then Son can come in 29.
          Not sure though

Seems solid, Ronnie taking too much of your money anyway
            King woeful

So just changing them 2 id go for
Sa a bonus as playing twice anyway

I hate -8s but that does seem good

haha, Everton played well and Spurs, well, could win 3.0 or lose 1.0

I haven't owned Raphinha so far this season and I think this is a perfect time to jump on board. If there's anyone capable to keep Leeds in the league and out of relegation zone, it's him. He's easily their best and most dangerous player, on penalties, free kicks and corners. You'll find pros and cons for every single player, so you might as well trust your gut at the end of the day.

He plays a very offensive 433 and I see Raphinha playing the left side on that front 3 with probably Rodrigo in the middle and James on the right

Perfectly reasonable punt. Would look at him as well if I was on FH/WC or had any FT:s left.

New manager might look to tighten up the defense but they will need to win games and Raph is their best offensive player.
