The final Premier League match of the day takes place at Anfield where, for once, Mohamed Salah is not the runaway captaincy candidate of the Gameweek.

Both of these sides have only one fixture apiece in Gameweek 28 as eight other teams ‘double’, so the Egyptian has consequently only been captained by 14.8% of the top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, making him the fourth-most-popular option for the armband.

The Liverpool side shows only two changes from the EFL Cup final last weekend, with one of them enforced due to Joel Matip‘s injury.

Ibrahima Konate starts in Matip’s stead, while Alisson is in for Caoimhin Kelleher between the posts.

There is no Declan Rice for West Ham, who make three changes to the side that lost to Southampton in the FA Cup in midweek.

The Hammers skipper is replaced in midfield by Nikola Vlasic, while Aaron Cresswell comes in for Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski ousts Alphonse Areola in goal.

GAMEWEEK 28 LINE-UPS

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Salah, Diaz, Mane

Subs: Kelleher, Milner, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Minamino, Jota, Origi, Elliot

West Ham United XI: Fabianski, Johnson, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell, Soucek, Vlasic, Fornals, Lanzini, Bowen, Antonio

Subs: Areola, Noble, Benrahma, Diop, Fredericks, Masuaku, Kral, Okoflex, Chesters

Wat was I thinking doing Raph (c)?
    .
    On a WC too ffs.

Didn't trust villa so only got so removed Coutinho/and Fraser and went with Havertz and Wilock. Got lucky with Havertz

Brought in James but rival capt him and has moved 35 ahead altho I have Kane to play.

Also had Jimenez and Wood on my WC during the wk but removed them too.

    So mixed bag really.

I wildcarded too and feeling in a glum mood. Rudiger cap and no Havertz feels a bit dim now. I’m thinking Raph is not worth keeping and may go someone like Fraser instead. And Jimenez was a dim WC pick. I want Lacazette

I’m remembering a WC is not for one match and hoping it comes good in the long term.

My thoughts are if I had gone with the flow here I wouldve wasted a wc on like 7 wolves, saints and newcastle players, mostly defenders. Most people just come here to mimick the template teams who usually end up as this gw

Agreed, I was surprised with the conservativeness of WC teams in double Wolves defence, Saints attackers etc.; instead of having a few differential picks and punts. Ofc can always fail, but much more fun and greater rank jumps if successful.

Had to log in just to add that my best finishes (top 1k and top 5k) have also come from reading the content on this site and saying ‘nah I’m alright actually’.

Started letting this place influence my decisions a lot more due to having less time to watch games and it’s top 100-200k now. Lesson for next season!

Did it gw1 last year and got about 15 points. Was like a weight of my shoulders. This year just thinking of it as a bonus to drop whenever I can’t decide who to bench.

I played mine back in GW11 and got a very fortunate 27 points off it mainly thanks to Ben Fosters penalty save.

Was determined to get rid early this season as in past years it has been cursed just because of the hits I’ve taken getting players in and then out again to make it a success (it wasn’t).

It is such a useless chip.

BB is so much better than TC. I'm happy to see so many people repeating the fashionable line that it's good to get it out of the way.

      1. elwardio
        • 14 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

20 points is a great result with either TC or BB. BB often incurs hits though, one week wonders hurriedly in and resentfully out. There is also the opportunity cost of players you ignore in weeks ahead of playing the BB. If you play BB immediately after wildcard you save the hits but you compromise the team you want longer term. Wildcard is in a class of its own, but after that the daddy chip is free hit, it’s like gambling with someone else’s money!

        1. _Make
          • 9 Years

Fair enough, although a decent BB needn’t involve hits. There is luck involved but BB had a much higher floor than TC: TC can easily result in between 1 and minus 2 points (x3) and not only that but a BB is close to unique whereas a good TC candidate likely to be shared with millions of others.

How many goals and assists is 35 points. I don’t want to throw cold water on your dreams but I reckon 25 would be the upper limit

Assuming he gets 3 bonus points (which would be pretty likely in the circumstances I guess), 6 goals and 2 assists would do it. That’s minimum 8-0 win against a resurgent Everton. I reckon that’s doable

That would be quite beautiful. He has displayed how important he is to them today.

I also brought him in for Robbo and done so based on the assumption that he would blank in 29 tbh.

      I predicted he'd play twice in 28 & bench in 29. Let's see

I am one of those who has dropped so far 50k to 110k so far this week, totally picked the wrong DGW punts with eyes on GW30.

It was a defensive week so expected to fall down but to this much lol

No disrespect, and I'm no expert so don't take what I say to heart but shouldn't decent sized double game weeks be weeks to attack?

Digne > Robertson gives me a backline of

    TAA,Robertson,Cancelo,Rüdiger,(Tarkowski)

    Too much?
    Probably will be playing 4-5-1 / 4-4-2.

        True.
Could go the other way though and get White/Holgate to fund Dennis > Vardy or Kane.

My backline is Trent, Robertson, James, Rudiger, Coady. I see no problem with having a pricy defence given how rubbish forwards are this year

Doubts over Bowen inj and James,Jiminez rest/rotation

    A) Roll FT
    B) Lamptey > Bavies (bench Bowen and gives another gw30 player)

    Ramsdale*
    Tierney* TAA* James Rudi
    Salah* Bowen Raph Coutinho
    Kane* Broja

    sanchez* jiminez ramsey lamptey*

I have James(c), but that he got so many points is seriously flukey. It is actually ridiculous that (c) him paid off. It is rarely successful to (c) a non-premium and it was very lucky it paid off.

Not fluke at all. Calculated risk. High reward.

Wait until you rack up his extra points from the Norwich game, you're going to be seriously embarrassed 🙂

Your selection wasn't a fluke, it was a calculated risk that could easily have gone wrong as well. Enjoy the points and keep your eyes peeled for that next mega-haul transfer that you can target.

Turns out resolutions are hard to stick to when you’re contemplating the implications of your country of birth threatening the existence of the entire world. Reactivated my team as a kind of a safety blanket of sorts. Got James in for a -8 (together with Foster for a BB), put the armband on him, then chickened out and gave it to Coutinho. Still, 58 net points ain’t bad.

Somebody once told me a man walks his own path and how he touches others lives is how he is measured.

All you can do is be you as best you can. And get ultimate jam from captaining a semi fit, possibly wouldn't start Chelsea defender when he hits 18 points. Congrats

Got James(C) and TAA, still just a small green arrow. If i didn’t take the hit for Cancelo to James it would have been a bloodbath.

Brought in James (c) and Fraser for a hit. Finally some luck in my season.

I thought James was a fairly obvious cap pick but Fraser was inspired and away from the popular choice. I contemplated Cash and Schar on my WC as well. Both look pretty good picks right now. I reckon Kulusevski and Diaz might be good picks going forward and City’s fixtures look so good that we shouldn’t shed them too quickly
