As a young girl walking into a football stadium with my dad, I was conscious that I was not your average football fan. I regularly found myself sitting in the stands at both White Hart Lane and Stamford Bridge as one of a real female minority.

Now as I sit in the stands with my six-year-old daughter, the difference in the numbers of male and female fans no longer feels as noticeable. She can buy a football shirt made specifically for female supporters and the stadium facilities cater for the growth of female attendees.

Spurs now boasts an average attendance of 8,614 at their women’s first-team matches, the most in the league; remarkable growth for a team that was founded the year I was born.

International Women’s Day is all about celebrating women’s achievements, increasing visibility and calling out inequality. Organisations such as Her Game Too have encouraged women to break out of their comfort zones and push for increased representation in the football world.

“I want people – boys and girls – to be sat at home watching me alongside the likes of Rio Ferdinand or Frank Lampard, thinking that it’s normal, that we all know what we’re talking about, and that they’re not judging me at home just because I’m a female.” – Alex Scott

Across the FPL community, female content creators have added a new dimension to the game. As the first female content creator on YouTube, FPL Nymfria paved the way for other women. In addition, Holly Shand’s creation of Fantasy Football Community gave the community a platform to celebrate their work.

Since, there have been a number of high-profile women in the game, including the likes of Jules Breach and Kelly Somers. Their work both in FPL as well as in the Premier League, European and international football alike, has encouraged others to follow their dreams and be active in the Fantasy and football arenas.

When Lee and I founded the FPL Family in 2017, I was anxious about the reaction that I would receive. In the early days of the FPL Family, we did have comments on my gender and the “I’m not listening to women who know nothing about football”-type lines. However, these comments were always dwarfed by the positives.

The encouragement of the team at Fantasy Football Scout has allowed me to have confidence in my own value as a content creator and to ride the quest of the wave as the FPL Family grew.

Over the course of the 2021/22 season so far we have seen the development of new female content creators, as well as increased activity from those that existed before. FPL Nymfria and Kylie FPL have a Weekly Watchlist stream on the FFScout YouTube channel and I love the Q&A streams I do with Az every week. On top of this, Linn is now part of the Scout Network and is doing great work, especially with FanTeam.

The Premier League, Official FPL and Fantasy Football Scout are great examples of how companies can improve their offerings by leveling the game. Last season, the Premier League worked alongside me to help me produce some video content on women in the game. I went to the Premier League with an idea to highlight the remarkable things that women were doing with FPL and they helped me to make it a reality.

We produced a video on the female personalities, which was published on the FPL website.

We also produced video content with some big female personalities in the FPL community. In addition, they gave me access to the rest of the recordings for a series of videos on the FPL Family YouTube channel.

Both my son and daughter are growing up seeing their mum and dad appearing on the FPL Show and the Official FPL Podcast. They are listening to Jules Breach on BT Sports Score on a Saturday afternoon and watching the likes of Kelly Cates, Kelly Somers and Alex Scott hosting football and working as pundits. As they get older and have access to social media, I hope that there will be equality for all creators and members of the community alike regardless of race, gender, creed, sexuality or age.

They are growing up in a world that strives to improve equality in the game and this is their normal. This is something that I am proud to be a part of.

Sitting about even at moment this gw(66 after hit)

Any chance I stay green with only these 5 left.
James - Saiss - Digne- Willock - Broja

Seems like with dbl defence, ill need a goal conceded and attacking returns from James/ saiss to have any hope!

Digne no show would be great, Luiz 8 points off bench would be nice boost!

    Bottomed.

Great job with this article, Sam. I really appreciate pieces like this that aren't just about FPL raw stats and you've always been one of my favorite FPL content creators since that time last season when you said you were buying Bruno Fernandes and thought he'd be the top scoring player in the game. No one else believed he could keep it up and yet you knew. I also saw Jules Breach's pre season predictions which were amazing. West Ham to be the dark horses last season was a very unpopular opinion that turned out to be prophetic.

Just wanted to highlight there's no shortage of knowledge from the women in the community. In fact, I'd say their average knowledge is above your average male content creator because they have the confidence to talk about football in a male dominated environment.

Happy International Women's day and I look forward to more representation across the board.

My gf is playing fpl for the first time this year and it has been refreshing to see how she approaches it and has made me question some of the transfers I make (she’s beating me all ends up).

Still a long way to go for football and fpl to be properly inclusive but it’s people like Sam who are paving the way to get there.

Advice greatly appreciated chaps - 1 FT, 5.4M ITB, no FH/WC.

    DDG
    TAA*, Robertson*, James
    Salah*, Saka*, Havertz, Bowen
    Watkins, Broja, Dennis

    (Foster, Digne, Ramsey, Saiss)

Comfortable with hits for Spurs/Arsenal players for DGW29 and BGW30...

    A) Dennis/Broja, Bowen, Havertz, DDG -> Son, Kulusevski, Lacazette, Ramsdale (-12)
    B) Dennis, Bowen, DDG -> Kane, Martinelli, Ramsdale (-8)
    C) Dennis/Broja, Havertz, DDG -> Kane, Kulusevski, Ramsdale (-8)
    D) Bowen, DDG -> Son, Ramsdale (-4)
    E) Something else...

    Cheers

I think your Option A has good upside. You're getting all doubles in so that's 4 extra games and then 3 on the BGW.

Which of these is this worth a -8?
    A. Dennis + Bowen + Laporte > Kane + Gordon + Doherty
    B. Dennis + Bowen + Laporte > Lacazatte + Kulu + Robertson

    Sanchez
    TAA James Laporte Gabriel
    Salah Son Raphinha Saka Bowen
    Broja
    Sa Dennis King Lowton

    Don't plan to FH 30

That's tough, A you get two doublers, but Gordon is dead weight imo. You'll end up with a touch bench there. B is slightly better balanced.

Both options get me 3 additional doublers and 7 playing in gw 30.

Gordon good to have as a bench option till the end of the season.

I would lean towards Bruno to Kulu allowing Edouard to Kane. I am considering a somewhat similar option, did Bruno to Son last GW and now considering between keeping Son or moving Son to Kulu to upgrade a cheap mid to Kane (for -4).

All this sudden Kulu love probably means his points will dry up. That said, teamed with Edouard to Kane, it’s a massive upgrade

Yeah it’s a good upgrade. I don’t want to end up like those who looked at Bowen as a fad.

If I was to take a -4 and do JWP > Kulu & DDG > Dubravka, how does this look for a GW29 BB?

    Ramsdale
    Taa - Cancelo - Robbo - James
    Salah - Son - Kulu - Coutinho - Raphina
    Broja

Dubravka - Ait Nouri - Maupay - WegHourst

I thought I ruled out premium forwards back in GW16&17 with Kane and Ronaldo respectively for the rest of the season and keep funds in other positions but here I am considering Kane (-4) over Son

Pretty set on bringing in Doherty and kulu for a -4

Is one of these worth another -4

    A) Laporte to Robbo
    B) weghorst to laca
    C) don’t hit

Bowen & DCL to Kane and Kulu? (-4)

Feels weird selling DCL before a double since I've had him all this time, but surely the expected points will be better, and another player for BGW30.

      Rudiger>James
Don't like the Jorginho pick. If you have already used the BB, then no need for 3 proper benches. Downgrade Pukki>Gelhardt or 4.4 and upgrade Jorginho>Maddison
      And
JWP>Saka ( as you already have Broja)

Ward-Prowse to Saka or Tierney/Jorginho to White/Saka, which gets you two nailed and less injury prone players.

Hi All, finding it hard to keep momentum / interest in my team lately. 60+ points clear in my MLs at work and with mates but the competition isnt hectic. Inside the top 90k, was inside 20k before Christmas but missed the Bruno and Bowen hauls as captains. Sort of going through the motions. Plan is to FH30, the no plan after that. Have 2FHs left and WC. What players are essential from now until end of season? Will buy James this week regardless if he starts or not. Have no Arsenal, just cant seem to get any for some reason.

Recommend looking at post 30 fixtures and find FPL content that have permutations for doubles and blanks to increase your increase of the game

Hell no, I'll admit that. Just didnt see him starting. I have got a few calls right here though, like Mahrez and Sterling blanking on FH few weeks ago. But yes, James was a bad call, thankfully no one listened by the sounds of it.

Let's be honest. It was much better when it was Jeff Stelling and the old crew. Much more fun and entertaining. Nothing to do with different sexes or race. Just natural chemistry and content more related to the majority of the audience. Not allowed that now as you have to have every single denomination represented in every aspect of British life. A bit sad really.

    Hi all, thoughts are appreciated.

Already used my 1 FT and below is my current team. I have WC, 1 FH and BB available, 0.1ITB

    Ramsdale
    White TAA Davies
    Couthinho Salah Willock Saka
    Toney Watkins Kane

    Foster Bowen Laporte Livramento

So tempted by the -4 for Bowen > Kulu but I think it's more me being scared to miss out on the points as everyone else seems to be doign it, when really, if I play team above and hold Bowen as he's a GW 30 player (if fit obvs) and tbf spurs v west ham can be a fiery one with lots of goals maybe... Then using next weeks FT and maybe a hit then to get in another GW 30 player? Maybe next week downgrade Laporte > GW 30 playing def and Willock > Kulu then?

    I think i'm torn between:
    a. -4 now for Bowen to Kulu, play him and drop ??? to bench
    b. Play team as is, next week Laporte > Doherty & Willock > Raph
    c. Play team as is, next week Laporte > Soyuncu maybe? And Willock > Raph
    d. Play team as is, next week do something else and stop trying to plan ahead lol

In option C I meant Laptore > Soyuncu (or another not spurs but playing GM30 def) and Willock > Kulu
