The Team News tab remains the most-visited page on the Fantasy Football Scout site even when the next Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline is several days or weeks away, with the Injuries and Bans section not far behind.

The pre-match press conferences on Thursday and Friday are where we get the bulk of our information for the upcoming Gameweek, and it’s after the Premier League managers have faced the media that we properly update the tab and finalise our predicted XIs. We also bring you a round-up of the pressers in article form on those days.

But given the aforementioned demand, and for those Fantasy managers thinking of making early transfers or wanting to hear the latest in advance of the end-of-the-week pressers, we’re going to start bringing you this earlier summary straight after the weekend’s action.

It’ll also be updated after the matches at home and abroad on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the press conference round-ups on Thursday and Friday superseding it.

Off we go, then, with this club-by-club guide…

ARSENAL

Takehiro Tomiyasu (calf) sat out Monday’s defeat to Crystal Palace despite positive pre-match comments from Mikel Arteta about his recovery. He’ll now not be back until after the trip to Southampton at the earliest, which is the first match of Arsenal’s Double Gameweek 33. Nicolas Pepe (illness) and Kieran Tierney (knee) were also absent at Palace, with the Gunners boss saying that the left-back’s injury “does not look good”. A club update later confirmed that the Scotland international would be sidelined for some time. Arteta added that Thomas Partey‘s thigh injury was also a “concern” after the Ghanaian midfielder limped out of the loss at Selhurst Park.

ASTON VILLA

Steven Gerrard confirmed after the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday that Lucas Digne was only suffering from a stomach complaint when being substituted, allaying fears that he may have tweaked his hamstring. Danny Ings only missed out because his partner had given birth, meanwhile, so may return this weekend. Marvelous Nakamba got game-time for the under-23s last week after returning from a long-term injury so could be in the frame for a first-team comeback.

BRENTFORD

Josh Dasilva (hamstring) was the only Brentford player who missed the win over Chelsea, although his injury was described as “minor” by his manager. There were no known fresh concerns from the victory at Stamford Bridge.

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Adam Webster (groin) and Moises Caicedo (illness) were absent from the draw with Norwich City at the weekend but could return this week, with Graham Potter previously saying that Webster “wasn’t too far away”. Jakub Moder suffered a serious knee injury in the stalemate at the Amex, however, and looks set for a long spell on the sidelines.

BURNLEY

Erik Pieters (knee), Ben Mee (knee) and Johann Berg Gudmundsson (calf) remain out ahead of the weekend but Matej Vydra and Nathan Collins returned from injury and suspension in midweek.

CHELSEA

Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles/back) and Ben Chilwell (knee) were the only injury-related absentees for the visit of Brentford, although Christian Pulisic (fatigue) wasn’t considered for selection after a late return from international duty and Trevoh Chalobah was a tactical omission from the matchday squad. Hudson-Odoi and Chilwell remained out for the Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

CRYSTAL PALACE

Wilfried Zaha (hamstring) returned from injury for the visit of Arsenal on Monday but Michael Olise (foot) wasn’t part of the Palace squad, having failed to recover from an injury picked up over the international break. No timeframe has been put on his return as yet but Patrick Vieira doubts that he’ll be back for Gameweek 32.

EVERTON

Yerry Mina (thigh), Andros Townsend (knee), Nathan Patterson (ankle), Donny van de Beek (thigh), Michael Keane (suspended) and Allan (suspended) all missed the midweek trip to Burnley but Seamus Coleman (illness) and Fabian Delph (thigh) returned to the squad. Van de Beek will miss out through ineligibility in Gameweek 32 and the injured players will remain sidelined but Allan and Keane will be back from suspension.

LEEDS UNITED

Patrick Bamford (foot), Jamie Shackleton (calf), Leo Hjelde (knee), Junior Firpo (knee) and Tyler Roberts (hamstring) were on the sidelines for the draw with Southampton, although Hjelde and Firpo are homing in on a playing comeback. Joe Gelhardt picked up what is reported to be a dead leg in an under-23s match on Monday, meanwhile, with the budget forward set to be assessed.

LEICESTER CITY

Wilfred Ndidi (knee), Danny Ward (knee) and Ryan Bertrand (knee) remain out for the long term, while Jamie Vardy (knee) is still feeling discomfort in training. Luke Thomas (hamstring) is fit, however. Jonny Evans left the field at Old Trafford on Saturday with a tight calf, meanwhile, although that withdrawal appeared to be more precautionary in nature.

LIVERPOOL

Curtis Jones, Joel Matip and Naby Keita all recovered from minor issues to face Benfica in midweek, with Jurgen Klopp blessed with a fully fit squad. Trent Alexander-Arnold started in Portugal after being an unused substitute in Gameweek 31.

MANCHESTER CITY

Ruben Dias (hamstring) and Cole Palmer (foot) were the only two players that Pep Guardiola ruled out of the trip to Burnley on Saturday, with neither player thought to be back in contention for the visit of Liverpool. Pep Guardiola didn’t reveal any fresh team news information in his pre-match press conference ahead of the UEFA Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid, a game in which no new concerns were reported.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Edinson Cavani (calf) remains out, while we await news on whether Luke Shaw has recovered after Ralf Rangnick confirmed that the left-back had suffered a recurrence of an old leg injury in the draw with Leicester City. Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard should return this weekend, however, after missing Gameweek 31 through illness.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Kieran Trippier (foot) and Callum Wilson (calf) remain on the injury list, with Eddie Howe confirming after the loss at Spurs that Trippier’s foot hasn’t healed as well as the Magpies would have liked and that he will remain sidelined until the tail-end of the campaign. There weren’t any fresh issues from the game in north London itself, although Miguel Almiron was absent after a late return from South America.

NORWICH CITY

Ozan Kabak (hamstring), Josh Sargent (ankle), Adam Idah (ankle/knee) and Andrew Omobamidele (back) are all on the injury list, while it remains to be seen if Max Aarons (hamstring/illness), Lukas Rupp (hamstring) and Przemyslaw Placheta (ankle) are anyway nearer a recovery by the time Burnley come calling for Saturday’s six-pointer in east Anglia. Brandon Williams (ankle) should be close to a comeback, however, having rejoined training ahead of Gameweek 31.

SOUTHAMPTON

Lyanco (thigh) remains on the sidelines for the visit of Chelsea, a match that loanee Armando Broja will miss as he is ineligible to face his parent club. Alex McCarthy (hamstring) was back on the grass last week after an absence of almost four months, too, although was only in light training so didn’t feature against Leeds.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Japhet Tanganga (knee) will be out until the end of the season but Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) and Oliver Skipp (groin) are possible returnees at Villa Park, with Antonio Conte saying that he was expecting the injured pair to make a return to training ahead of Gameweek 32. More news is awaited on the severity of the injury that forced Sergio Reguilon to miss the thrashing of Newcastle United, meanwhile.

WATFORD

Kwadwo Baah (ankle) was the only player who was declared unavailable for the hard-fought loss at Anfield, with Nicolas Nkoulou passed match-fit after his own lengthy lay-off but not involved in the matchday squad.

WEST HAM UNITED

Angelo Ogbonna (knee) remains on the sidelines but Ben Johnson (hamstring) might be back this weekend – and even before then, in Europe on Thursday. Despite being described as “OK” by his manager ahead of Gameweek 31 after emerging “sore” but mostly unscathed from a car crash, Manuel Lanzini missed the win over Everton. He has since returned to training.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Ruben Neves (knee), Raul Jimenez (suspended) and Ki-Jana Hoever (hamstring) will all miss the trip to Newcastle but there were no obvious signs of any fresh injuries after the win over Aston Villa, with Pedro Neto (foot) and Nelson Semedo (hamstring) returning to the matchday squad as substitutes.

He's a good option but you need to set realistic expectations when it comes to strikers this season. I will be pleased with one goal in DGW to be honest.

Even though Spurs won, it all looked too good to be true when Chelsea and United dropped points. Of course something bad is bound to happen in the same week - something like 3:0 loss, the worst performance in months, Tierney news and how he got injured after playing 180 minutes in pointless friendlies, Partey off, Tomiyasu still out. Never mind all that, fair play to Palace for amazing game and completely outplaying us.

I expected some upsets in last 10 games of the season, so hopefully this reality check will do wonders to the team. Playing without 3 regular starters in April will be tough though.

We needed this to wake us up. Good it came with a lot of games still left to play. And one bad day at the office after so many good months is absolutely understandable.

I am sure we will come back much stronger.

Tavares cannot play again this season unless it's an easier home game. I'd rush Tomiyasu back and switch Cedric to LB.

Midfield is going to be a joke if Partey is out for long. I'd say we won't be getting top4 now. Spurs will win more as their fixtures are much better and they're on form.

We'll probably beat Brighton next then lose to Southampton the week after.

Arteta looks stupid not strengthening in January now.

I think Martinelli starts again from 32. Long travel and they did bad and injuries might suggest they have to reshuffle a bit.

    FH 33 & 37, BB36

I don't want to get hung up on BB, think I'll WC and run with a bench of...

    Foster Mateta Cucho Ramsey

Leaves loads for the starting 11 which will look something like,

    Schmeichel
    Robbo Cancelo James Doherty White
    Salah/KDB/Bruno Son Maddison Saka
    Kane

        0 ITB with Salah
        1.3 ITB with KDB
        1.4 ITB with Bruno

Which keepers would you roll with from now on?

Yeah i think most people play the bench boost sub-optimally. They think they need to put more money on the bench, but I'm not sure that makes sense.

Your team as a whole still has the same amount of money spent on it, you've just moved it to the bench. So as long as you have your cash sitting on good value assets it doesn't really matter where it is. That should maximise your points over 15 slots.

Those cheap 4.0-4.5 players that get 4 apprarance pts in a double make them very good value, so they're good enough for your bench boost. The rest of the money is still active in XI, so you're still getting points from it.

      1. Eze Really?
        • 11 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

A good argument for sure. My bet is the premium wingbacks will get 70% play time. It costs money but if you cover for at least 1 sub per week you can go with a "premium" on the bench. I think TV is a pointer to what you can "waste" on the bench. I can afford Mateta at 5.2 rather than Gerhardt for instance.
My backline is ridiculously strong: Robbo Cancelo James Laporte Doherty. I am covering for inevitable benchings and wasted points on there too. taking this route has limited me to 2 premiums (Salah and Kane) and missing out on KDB/Son. for Havertz and Foden. Time will tell if it is a good call.

        1. Piggs Boson
          • 14 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

Yeah it definitely needs to be adapted to the current player pool, like you've done. A good value forward is more expensive than a good value mid for example.

As long as you get 16-20 pts from it and don't leave too much on the bench you're all good.

          1. Eze Really?
            • 11 Years
            3 years, 8 months ago

TBH if doherty and Laporte get lots of points and are benched, i am not really concerned if James, Robbo and Cancelo play every GW. We are all human and when we see points on the bench we get frustrated but we shouldn't. The 1.8 mil I have wrapped up does not even upgrade a mid priced attacker to a premium anyway. The 6.5's and to a lesser extent the 5.8's are paying their way too.

Gallagher is the only one i consider.
Leicester- it is a choice between Barnes and Maddison of course.
An added defender could be a thing - Justin, or Fofana as a cheap one.
Vardy has been a bit injured lately, so he would have to prove himself to be considered.

For my team listed below, which option:

    A) Save FT, play Ramsey, bench Tierney and use 2 FTs in 33 to do Raph + Tierney to Martinelli + James
    B) Tierney to a sub 5.0 def in 32

    Pope
    TAA Cancelo Davies
    Salah Son Saka Raph Ramsey
    Kane Weghorst

    Lewis Gelhardt Matip Tierney

A I think. Give yourself another week to see if Martinelli returns to starting 11, and for James to recover from Real Madrid. Tierney âž¡ Mitchell looks okay - weighing that up myself - but James would be much stronger

Early draft for 34 WC with a BB 36 plan:-

    Alisson
    TAA - Cancelo - James - Laporte
    Salah - Saka - Barnes - Foden
    Kane - Mateta

    Schmeichel - White - Ramsey - Cucho
    ITB: 0.4

If City don't get the double in 36 will still get around 11 doublers with Mateta and 2 out of 3 city on the bench. But the thought is city will double in 36 with either West Ham or Wolves which gives 14 doublers and Mateta at home to Watford and most likely 2 FTs to deal with any issues of the time. Will probably FH out of this lot in 37.

Morning all, any thoughts on a 9.9m or less def & mid combo? Is Amartey nailed for Leicester? That would leave a 6.0m budget for the mid.

    Guaita
    TAA - Robbo - Cancelo - Doherty - ??
    Son - KDB - Maddison - ??
    Kane

    Foster - Broja - Brownhill - Gerhardt

Top 3 defenders killing you for value. You need to downgrade one of the 6 premiums eventually. 2 enablers in midfield not good and Amartey gametime in doubt. Go Fofana/White/Schar with martinelli/Fraser IMO. You will need a playing bench very soon.

Robbo to James could be it, but maybe someone cheaper rather. James is also prone to rotation due to European games.

                  Robbo to Laporte/Justin
Brownhill to someone like Kulu and go 541?

I think Palace are on the up and have better fixtures than Southampton.

I like Kulu but already have 3 Spurs. Robbo > Laporte/Justin is a good shout to free up funds

Anyone have a simplified way of deciding chip strategy? I know it's team dependent but for those who have WC, FH and BB left are there certain players we should have which determine the order of when we should play these chips?

BB - when does our bench look at its strongest? Normally played after the WC which sets the BB up.

FH - what players do we want for that one off gwk?

WC - look at fixtures changes to maximise the final 4-5 weeks.

Probably WC in 35 to set up a BB in 36, then FH in 37.

    4. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 8 Years

I think 36 looks prime for a FH, maybe you have the core of players you want by then but Spurs have a rather difficult one double so you might want to be less Spurs heavy, which means you can alter which players you want from the teams you already got. You might have James but in 36 maybe the choice will be another Chelsea defender, maybe you want Kdb, and maybe its Grealish and not Foden you want for that gw, maybe you want to go double liv attack, or triple, with Jota, Mane etc.
And the cheap alternatives in this week is difficult, and you want the expensive ones from top teams.

Youuuuu redddsssss. Reckon we can stay up this season?

My worry with Leicester defenders is there's too many options in each position (Castagne, Justin, Pereira and Thomas for the wing back roles). If they stay in Europe, there's definitely going to be plenty of rotation.

Hearts says yes but he’s says no unfortunately mate, too many annoying points dropped at home recently in the last 10 mins or so if we could have held on to the leads against Stoke and Reading that would have made a big difference, also if we’d played how we’ve been playing last 4-6 weeks all season we wouldn’t be In this position, bad luck with Injuries this season too,

Yeah that’s true mate they do when they are all fit!! Which is rarely the case with Leicesters injury problem of their own haha

A Lacazette and Gordon to Mateta and Martinelli and 3 m in bank to allow back 5 of TAA Robertson James Cancelo Doherty

B Lacazette to Gelhardt to fund Havertz to Bruno for captain in 34 double and then KDB in 35 ( have Salah and Kane, Robertson James and ) Cancelo

Liverpool city is extremely unpredictable to say the least
I’m expecting a scored draw, and I fully expect both sides to go for it(although Liverpool definitely need the 3 points much more than City)
I’d be surprised if Liverpool wins at the Etihad though.

        Yes. Sold Trent.

I have a weird feeling that Liverpool will win this though. They just have insane momentum. I felt it since the Arsenal game. That inevitable feeling of moving forward. 2-1 Liverpool is what I think will happen. City have not hit their stride in 2022 properly imo and I have watched every single one of their games this season. We'll see how Atletico goes, but it's just a gut feeling that Liverpool will find a way in this game.
