We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

CHELSEA KNOCKED OUT OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Chelsea have been knocked out of the Champions League after losing to Real Madrid 5-4 on aggregate at the Bernabeu.

In a classic encounter, the Blues went 3-0 up through goals from Mason Mount (£7.5m), Antonio Rudiger (£6.2m) and Timo Werner (£8.6m), but efforts from Rodrygo and then Karim Benzema in extra-time put Carlo Ancelotti’s side into the semi-finals.

Reece James (£6.3m), meanwhile, was excellent on the right of a back three, while Werner followed up his brace of goals at Southampton at the weekend with a brilliantly taken strike in the second-half.

For FPL managers, tonight’s loss does at least ease the schedule for Chelsea and, in theory, should mean less rotation during the run-in.

Chelsea XI: Mendy, James, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, Loftus-Cheek (Saul 105), Kovacic (Jorginho 105), Kante (Ziyech 100), Alonso, Mount, Werner (Pulisic 83), Havertz

DIAS UNLIKELY TO START

Pep Guardiola has revealed Ruben Dias (£6.1m) will travel with the Man City squad for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese skipper has missed the past six weeks through injury but returned to training on Monday.

However, the City boss was keen to point out that Dias will not start given his lack of full training and game time.

“He travels with us. From the beginning tomorrow? No. He did one training session after six weeks off. It is premature, but the fact he is back with the schedule we have is good. Everyone will be important and Ruben is.” – Pep Guardiola on Ruben Dias

There was also an encouraging update regarding Cole Palmer (£4.5m), who has missed several weeks with a foot injury.

“He is much, much better but I don’t think he will travel. I will finish the list later. Maybe if he feels good. He feels better and we tried to avoid surgery. The doctor says we will try to avoid it, hopefully…” – Pep Guardiola on Cole Palmer

KLOPP HINTS AT ROTATION

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken to the media to preview Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Benfica and confirmed that there are no new injuries to report.

However, a bit of rotation could be on the cards given the Reds’ relentless schedule, with Ibrahima Konate (£5.1m), Luis Diaz (£8.0m) and Roberto Firmino (£8.7m) candidates to come into the starting XI.

“The next game has no influence on the line-up for tomorrow night, but the last game has. We have to see, a really super-intense schedule. No one injured as far as I know in this moment, but we need to have a look at who is fresh enough for this game. We see it as a super important game, we won the first leg 3-1 and I know for people who have nothing to do with the game, it’s halfway through and then you play City left and right of the game. And then it’s like the focus could be somewhere else – we see it slightly different, to be honest!” – Jurgen Klopp

    Only owned Mahrez 3 GWs.

GW27 - 1 point (sold and scored a brace next)
    GW31 on WC - 0 point
    GW32 - 1 point

Sold for Son already. Surely another brace this GW.

Aahh JWP. Also bought him in GW27 for a hit, only for him to blank 27 and DGW28. To rub salt into wound, ditched Saka in the process who later hauled in GW28.

Funny I keep playing this game.

    Best combo on FH:

    A Dan Burn & Saka
    B Maguire & Odegaard/Martinelli

Currently on A and already got Schar, reckon downgrading Saka is worth it to get a Utd defender?

Could try Dalot & Saka though some risk of rotation with AWB.

Was Schmeichel due to rise in price so soon? These price rises seem a bit off this season, anyone else think?

Targett more attacking threat, Schar more BP magnet
I’d be worried about Castagne and Justin’s game time. That being said I’d go A

Just Googled to see what Charlie Adam’s up to these days, and to be fair, he scored a screamer in the Dundee derby at the weekend. Not quite a CL quarter-final, admittedly, but not bad for a 36 year old who looks more like 50!

Best move here (assuming Doherty is out this week)

    A) Ait-Nouri & Raphina -> Schar & Barnes (-4)
    B) Doherty & Raphina -> Schar & Maddison (-4)
    C) Raphina & Jimenez -> Mount & 6.7 (Wood) (-4)
    D) Free Hit

If C) I'd probably do Wood -> Watkins in 35, so a bit short term

    RAMSDALE
    Cancelo, Robbo, James, Doherty*
    Salah, MARTINELLI, Kulu
    Kane, BROJA

    Foster, Ait-Nouri, Raphina, Coutinho, Jimenez
    Bank 0.2m, 1FT, FH/BB left

I currently have Broja and Rodrigez in my starting XI. They have doubles but broja blanks every week roddy isnt much better.

Bring in Schar and play over Broja? A rival has schar so i wont make up ground but wont be hurt by a clean sheet or two

    Sanchez (foster)
Schar / livra / taa (cancelo / mitchell)
Son / saka / barnes / salah (ramsey)
    Broja / weg / kane

Doesn't feel right having cancelo 1st sub vs Brighton but don't really want to bench dgws

Weghorst > Saint Max , what do we all think? The only issue is, I need to get rid of Saint M after the Norwich game (so keep for 3 matches over 2 gameweeks basically....might need to do a -4 to take him out...will he have already paid for himself over the 3)?

Up front for GW33, currently have Kane (he plays) Broja & Weg. Can only play either Broja or Weg (hence thinking swap Weg to Saint M & bench Broja). thx

There's not much choice in the forward slots, I think he's a good pick if he stays fit and plays all three games.

I'll probably switch him out for Watkins in GW35.

lei NOR (FH36) CRY BUR doesnt appeal? Although Villa might be a bit beachy, I think Ramsey keeps playing and any experimentation will be with front 3. Alternative is to keep Martinelli instead & have 4.5m defender over Matip

    A) Doherty -> Schär, bench Rudiger. Next week Adams and Saiss -> Cheapie + James/Cancelo for -4
    B) Save FT, next week Adams and Doherty -> Cheapie + James/Cancelo for free

I'd just do B and play Rudi.

Don't know where this Schar hype has come from - for perspective, he's on less points than Bednarek or Keane.

I fully expect Newcastle to concede in both games.

    Morning All,

    thoughts about the below moves?

Doherty + Jiminez > Schar + Wood for FTs

    Bench Rudiger

Please kindly give me some advice. In a huge money league and I am trailing the top 2 leaders by 25 and 50 points. Time is running out. What should my strategy be? We have quite similar team to be honest so I have to make some drastic changes. 0.0ITB, 2 FT. Top 2 leaders own 3 pool, 3 spurs, 2-3 Arsenal as well.

    Dubravka/ Ramsdale
    Robertson Trent James White Doherty
    Salah Saka Coutinho Kulusevski Raphinha
    Pukki Kane Broja

    1. FH 33 instead of 36 or 37. Allow me to load up on Utd, Leicester & newcastle players. Try to take hits and FT to try to load up on Chelsea and City assets(have 2 Ars, 3 Spurs, Coutinho anyways)

    2. Gamble and take out Salah & Raphinha with Fernandes and Maddison, and cap Fernandes. Switch Fernandes to KDB in 34 and just go without Salah for the rest of FPL. Use FT and hits to assemble a full DGW team in 36, and FH on 37.

    3. Any other strategy.

I am in the same position and thinking about FH 33. This allows you to load up on Utd, Leicester & newcastle players and take advantage of those who not are using FH. In 36/37 all will have quite similar teams with Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. anyway, so I think this is the week to attack and gain some diferential points on your FH.

Morning guys, if I was to do Raph & Doherty > Maddison & Targett/Schar is this worth a BB?

    DDG
    Cancelo - Taa - Robbo - James
    Salah - Son - Kulu - Saka - Maddison
    Broja

    Ramsdale - Targett/Schar - Cucho - Weg

If Cucho is back then looks a good BB and allows you to tank the bench. Only other risk would be James rotation risk vs Arsenal for me.

Am I missing something? Why has Scout stopped posting FPL price rises daily - none since 6/4 - FPL shows on individual players page. Apologies if I am missing something obv.

This is my current lot (1FT, 1.1 ITB)

    Ramsdale
    Cancelo - TAA - Rudiger
    Saka - Maddison - Kulu - Salah
    Weghorst - Toney - Kane

    Sanchez - Coady - Ramsay - Johnson

Given the only chips I have left is 2 x FH (will use 1 in GW36), which option is better:

    a) Coady to Schar via FT and bench Weghorst. Save other FH for possibly GW38
    b) Play FH
    c) Anything else?

If YOU had to choose this GW:

    a) Son (have Kane and Kulu)
    b) Salah
    c) KDB

On a free hit, and trying to pin down my attacking spots alongside Kane, ASM, Fernandes.

    (A) Son, Maddison, Tielemans, Mahrez, bench fodder third striker

    (B) KDB, Maddison, Kulusevski, Iheanacho, bench fodder fifth midfielder

    (C) KDB, Maddison, Barnes, Adams, bench fodder fifth midfielder (plus I would have 1.3 cash to upgrade Charlie Taylor in my defence)
