Bitterly regretting picking Kane over Haaland, but telling myself it's only week 1. And yes of course I've already made the transfer.

Kane had the much better fixture, nobody knew Haaland was on pens either.

Don’t feel bad, just make the transfer.

Sessegnon will occasionally frustrate owners just like Alonso did to James at Chelsea I expect. But if your team can absorb I think when he does play, he'll get returns. Probs will be frustrating to own/not own thoughout.

Zinchenko is quality but we have Tierney back fit & there will be some rotation.

I think Tierney is a better defender & Zinc better attacking so depending on opposition Tierney could come in.

Saying that Zinc can push to mid over Xhaka & then he will be in everyone’s team

no, it would be typical of Kane to brace in a non captainable tougher fixture, like away against City last year but then blank in easy home games

Need to accept that they're in transition too. It feels like they've never accepted this fact, yet they've really been there since Ferguson left. Arsenal doing it under Arteta, Liverpool did it under Klopp, changing the playstyle and the squad takes time and things will go wrong but there needs to be faith that it'll work out and you need to stick with it, but if you keep thinking it's just a small change here or buy this and that player and boom it's done then there'll be no progress really.

      1. ☈☾
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

We're not in a transition. We're in the same cycle of hiring a new manager -> making big money signings -> sacking the manager. Rinse repeat. There is NO transition.

        1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
          • 5 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

That is the entire point. If that keeps going there'll be no end point where you are challenging for anything or have a defined style or structure.

          "Transition:
the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another."

Are you challenging for titles like under SAF? Are you in a period of stability? Are you consistently changing the squad and management? Yes. So yes, you are in transition.

            • 16 Years

United have consistently had the same failings for years, making the same mistakes over and over. I'm not sure that's transition....United fans I know are exasperated beyond caring.

              • 5 Years
              3 years, 8 months ago

While I get your point, it still means they're in that position of trying to get back to where they used to be and failing, even if it's taking far more time than you'd realistically think it should have. Liverpool and Arsenal did it quicker under their current managers but they had more time and less nonsense to deal with like leaks and so many players on bloated contracts that they couldn't move out.

Nearly every time it's the latter, so you're right in that regard. However, as time has gone on, the Internet has got more toxic. Just turn it off if it bothers you and come back for the next gameweek.

    *A. Salah +4.5 -> Haaland +4.5*
*Pros* - Money in the bank to get in Nunez as a differential 3rd Liverpool player in coming weeks.

    *Cons* - No Salah

    *B. Mount + Jesus -> 4.5 + Haaland*
*Pros* - having both Salah and Haaland
*Cons* - will have to play a 4.5 attacker in the starting 11.
Will need to bring Arsenal attacker next week as Arsenal GW3-5 is too good.

    *C. Robbo + Mount + Jesus -> Walker + Martinelli + Haaland*

*Pros* - Retain Salah. Retain Double Arsenal attack for favourable fixtures ahead.

*Cons* - No Robbo who looks great value, Walker rotation issues, no chance to get Nunez. Also -8.

*D - Save FT/ some other transfer(Mount to City mid was the initial thought)*

*Pro and Con* - RISKY. Salah cap against CPL, if he outscores popular cap Haaland, could be a huge advantage, if he blanks and Haaland Scores, could be a huge disadvantage.

This game is about template AND a little bit of differentiation. It's about jumping on bandwagons and dropping them when they're cold. It's very identical to a stock market. That is where you win the game.

Going non-template had plenty of opportunities this week. I didn't do great with 66 pts and had a 9% template rating. It was really only the Son captain which failed me and bad luck with Aaronson/Kristensen.

      But it's not that strong.

TAA and Robbo got 1 point each.

Kane and Haaland are split pretty evenly among engaged managers. Lots of people don't have Spurs or Son. Forwards are emerging while people have too much money in defense.

Our teams are gonna evolve in an interesting way from here on.

I'd be surprised if a heavy defence doesn't win out over time, Haaland and Jesus don't become set and forget and then it just being who you play next to Salah/Son though.

Darwin is already putting a big question mark over Robbo's place and then there's Mitrovic as well.

In midfield no one has really raised their hand yet but Kulusevski is great value. There are places to get ahead.

That's fair. Hopefully they raise the prices of defenders next season to give people more options in terms of the best formation.

It's been one week. There will be twists, injuries, unexpected form players etc... I think it might be the most interesting season FPL wise yet.

It's a game of luck. As long a luck is the overriding parameter its worth a play like most games.

It's not all luck hence why the tweet he's responding to https://twitter.com/FPLFocal/status/1556335081257590784 is about the two teams set up be managers with great records. They didn't put that together based on luck and won't get high finishes again because of that either.

No its not all luck ; the biggest factor is paying attention and staying on top of everything . . . but then its all luck.

Save. Similar to my team, and the potential problem positions (the cheap mids/def) are not ones you can solve with a single transfer, so I'd wait

Could be but you're taking out a 5m mid playing a Southampton side who conceded 4, to get in a 5m mid playing against an Arsenal side who kept a clean sheet.

Could work but after just one week it's more likely trying to chase last week's points.

FPL is now becoming 'follow the template' or risk being punished. This long patient approach will surely take out the fun and risk ruining the game.

Template pick was Kane , Liverpool defence , Diaz

Not haaland , Nunez , Kulu

It course if you go against high ownership players and they do well your rank takes a beating. Conversely if you go against, they blank and your player hauls you get a huge gain.

The skill is in picking the right battles

It’s sooo not follow the template , just because most on here do 😉

Fantastic opportunities to beat the game and templatey Twitter crowd

      I think it’s easier now

Also the game was always pick the highest points scorers , nothing has changed .

Got to back yourself to beat players who just follow others

Template did not win it 100%. Some were very poor picks. It did 80% good I'd say. So you could still risk the remaining 20% (going forward)

The template is such because it normally contains proven FPL assets. But on averages anyone can have one bad week like TAA, Kane etc.

Is FPL becoming too easy? I honestly don't see my transferring out 8 of the 11 players i have on my team (unless they get injured). i only have to worry about 3 players
