Our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points projections for Gameweek 3 were given their final update last night ahead of the Saturday deadline.

Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout can see the players heading the points projections for both this upcoming Gameweek and the next six in the images below but you can get the full picture here.

You can even get a breakdown of the points, from attacking returns to clean sheets, here.

Our Rate My Team tool, meanwhile, can give you an approximation of how many FPL points your own team will score over a series of Gameweeks. We’ve more details on this below.

GAMEWEEK 3: FPL POINTS PROJECTIONS

WHAT IS RATE MY TEAM?

Rate my Team (RMT) is a tool designed to give you an approximation of how many FPL points your team will score over a series of Gameweeks. This takes into account captaincy, vice-captains and automatic substitution points.

WHAT ARE PROJECTIONS?

Projections come in two forms – Season Projections and Six-Gameweek Projections (SGP).

Season projections show algorithm-generated predictions for every FPL player. This includes goals, assists, clean sheets, minutes played, bonus points, yellow cards and, most importantly, FPL points.

SGP shows algorithm-generated predictions for every player’s FPL points in each of the next six Gameweeks, calculating their points per million value over this period. These numbers are the same numbers as the ones used in RMT.

HOW ARE THE VALUES FOR RATE MY TEAM AND PROJECTIONS CALCULATED?

The values are generated by an algorithm that uses both current and historical data. There is also constant human monitoring so that the model can respond quickly to news, injuries or tactical changes that otherwise the algorithm may underestimate.

We do this to generate the best values with as little bias as possible.

HOW DO I LOAD MY TEAM INTO RMT?

To load your team into RMT, you need to type in your FPL ID.

If you can’t find your FPL ID, instructions on how to find it are on the Rate My Team page.

WHAT DO XM AND ADJP MEAN?

Placing the cursor over a player’s predicted FPL points in a Gameweek will show an xM score and an adjP score.

xM stands for expected minutes – It’s the number of minutes the algorithm is predicting a player to have. Note that this isn’t an exact Gameweek specific prediction but rather an average number of minutes. Therefore, while a player might be expected to play 90 minutes, their xM will be lower since there’s a chance they might miss the game or get substituted.

adjP is the expected points – how many points the algorithm predicts a player will score in the week if they were to play 90 minutes.

Both of these values combine to generate a final score.

FPL points projections: How many points will your players score? 1
WHY DOES RMT SAY TO START A PLAYER WITH A LOWER PREDICTED SCORE THAN A SECOND PLAYER?

Usually, this occurs because the algorithm predicts that a player (usually a goalkeeper) will either play the full game or won’t feature at all.

Player A – High adjP, very low xM – Low RMT score

Player B – Medium adjP, very high xM – Medium RMT score

Whilst Player A is unlikely to play, the most common scenarios is that they’ll either be given 90 minutes or none at all. Therefore, RMT thinks it’s worth starting him to make use of the high adjP if he plays, otherwise the safer option of Player B will autosub in.

Therefore it suggests picking Player A over B, despite the former appearing to score lower on RMT.

WHEN DO UPDATES HAPPEN?

While there’s no fixed update timetable, it is pretty much continuous.

Monday tends to have a big update after the weekend’s events. Thursday and Friday will have updates in the evenings following any news that emerges from pre-match press conferences.

CAN I SEE A FULL LIST FOR ALL PLAYERS IN RMT?

You can find the complete list here. It can also be found by clicking the “Players” option in the sub-menu under “Rate My Team” on the main Premium Members Area menu.

CAN I ORDER BY SCORES FOR ONE GAMEWEEK?

From the list of all players in RMT or projections, just click on the Gameweek header to sort the players by that Gameweek’s predicted score.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE GAMEWEEKS I VIEW RMT OVER?

At the top of the Rate My Team page, whilst you have your team loaded, you can select “First Gameweek” and “Last Gameweek”. By default, the first Gameweek will be the next Gameweek and the last Gameweek will be in six Gameweeks’ time, but these can be manually altered to suit your research.

Otherwise Rash to Dasilva and use the spare cash wisely to upgrade to upgrade a starting position in your 11.

You are stuck in the GW1 template midfield.

It seems a bit over 50% are going with Salah. You could get all religious about it, or you could recognise Newcastle have a good defence. Jesus should run Salah a fairly close second.

I’m a couple of games off captaining Jesus I think, want to see him against a few different teams first. Haaland could be very good this week but again there’s still a couple of questions around how they’re clicking with him, plus not a super easy fixture. I just feel more confident and sure with Salah against United

      1. Andy_Social
        • 13 Years

I agree. I'd speculate that the vast majority capping Jesus are doing it over one game - recency bias. I'm capping Salah due to his FPL record over years, and his record against United in particular.

    About price changes.

Is it so that WC transfers do not affect prices at all? I started thinking that FH makes sense like that but why would not WC affect prices? Let's say everyone uses wc in gw 7-8 and jumps from tenplate 1 to 2. Why would not those transfers affect prices since it is just selling and buying without hits but with same rationale as with normal transfers.

Anyone with more knowledge the pricing mechanism and opinios about this?

    1. Andy_Social
      • 13 Years
      3 years, 4 months ago

WCs don't count because you can make unlimited changes up until the deadline.

    2. Gommy
      • 15 Years
      3 years, 4 months ago

I believe WC changes are exempt because if they wasn’t, you could switch in/out the same players intentionally several times a day to purposely affect pricing.

Mitigating that would require a far more complicated algorithm so exempting WC Transfers completely might be simpler?

    3. Bennerman
      • 7 Years
      3 years, 4 months ago

Theory and logic is, the unconfirmed changes people are doing (during the week, let's say) won't have a material effect on the transfer maths.
But once confirmed (say, Friday/Saturday) they then will.

Slightly separate point, but I'm absolutely convinced there are some extra stipulations imposed by those in control, over and above it being completely organic. For certain players, for whatever reason.

Ah yes the unlimited amount during the week. Forgot about that little detail.

Zaha is the most underrated fpl attacker every year.

7 million for the potential of playing striker in some games, penalties and being as nailed as they can get is nothing to scoff at.

Frustrating as heck but he has looked dangerous under Vieira. Won't be surprised if he gets 15 + goals and 5+ assists this season..

and... none of us will own him/ only own him for his inevitable run of 5 blanks in a row and will make a pact never to own him again after those blanks lol

I'd add toney to this list of frustrating get profitable over the season bets too.

Plus at 7 million there's always that feeling of "I'm just 1 mill away from diaz/kulu etc"/"I can downgrade him to a 5.5er and save cash"

Defo not every year but this time around possibly.

Note though he is allergic to baps. Eze got 6 points for an assist and Zaha 7 in a 1-1 - he wasn't even in the top 10 baps scorers in the game. Find he's a fairly easy pick on eye test personally - there are times you want him and times you don't and that tends not to be fixture dependent but on how narrowly he is playing.

15+ does seem plausible as his output last season Xpens simply matched his best season under Roy and under Vieira it's not unreasonable to think he can outperform that.

      1. Valar(Keith)
        • 16 Years
        3 years, 4 months ago

Yup. His allergy to baps is a bit annoying.

If he plays upfront in the tougher games and does his usual on the wings in the easier games he could be a bit fixture proof this year

        1. Moderately content penguin
          • 7 Years

Certainly looks probable Palace will play him up top in a 5-4-1/5-3-2 in top 5 away fixtures and he has a decent scoring record against the top 6 all things considered. But there again the Liverpool game - where he had 3 ace chances - was a perfect storm with that high line defence.

Prefer Eze right now and waiting to switch into Olise if he stays fit as that I suspect is where the real value is. Both could be really decent at 5.5.

I don't think anyone would disagree that he was woefully underpriced. Even before his GW2 haul, he was by far the highest owned player in the game, suggesting as much. Without the benefit of GW2 hindsight, I, and many others, were suggesting 9.0m was the 'right' price.

I wish they’d put a premium on big six players to get people looking at players from other clubs, too easy for casuals to not look beyond the big team and too risky for others to exempt in exceptional circumstances

Yep, would end up with similar team. Should have done it early of the week if so, ahead of price swings.

Got all 3 of Salah, Haaland and Jesus

At the moment Captain is Jesus, I think it is a very tight call this week, anyone else on Jesus as captain?

The player you think will get the most points...

Many will even be switching at the very last minute. Going to be the make or break decision GW3.

Feel free to post your captain thoughts

    Salah - I feel a 1-1 on cards. Meh
Harlaand - yes Newcastle can defend but if city turn up and his hair is so lovely it’s a great cap
Jesus - perhaps Bournemouth weakest of opponents but could be a tough day.

    Tough isn’t it

And United has not regressed? Brentford did them a favour by not attacking enough in the second half. The worst team in the league vs the best player in the league.

A word on this years pricing.

Away from the points/template element, because everyone is so cheap most will have double or triple from the top teams (I have triple city + Arsenal and double pool + Chelsea).

Does anyone else find it a bit boring to only be interested in a handful of games each week? Much more fun when you are invested in most games as you may have a talisman in each.

Hopefully they go the other way with the pricing next year.

My theory has always been: only allow two players from each team, not three.

At a stroke, creates much more diversity of teams

Most keen players have Haaland, Salah, TAA, Jesus, Cancelo, Martinelli and James - that’s 7 of the 11 starting players. Shame about Darwin red card as he could have shaken it up a bit. Son going berserk today would be interesting I guess.

Agree. I'm on a wildcard and the result threatens to be really dull. I'm going to mix it up just a little, or there is no life in this side-game called fantasy football

100% agree with you, add an extra 0.5 to every top six player’s price and make prices change quicker , I wish they’d only change on say a Tuesday and Friday night but more changes

There's already a range of defenders and forwards being punted. The template is gradually getting diluted, and this will intensify once the midweek games kick in.

    Ramsdale (ward)
    Trent, cancelo, dias, James, neco
    Salah (c), martinelli
    Haaland, Jesus, Toney

    Perreira, dasilva, Bailey

    What do we think?

Next week plan is Bailey out for gross then will have option to play 4-3-3 with gross or 5-2-3 with neco depending on fixtures
