Newcastle v Man City team news: Dias and Mahrez benched, Grealish injured

In the final Premier League match of the day, Newcastle United host champions Manchester City at St James’ Park.

Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

For the visitors, Pep Guardiola makes two changes from the side that beat Bournemouth 4-0 in Gameweek 2, as John Stones and Bernardo Silva replace Ruben Dias and Riyad Mahrez, both of whom drop to the bench.

They sit alongside new signing Sergio Gomez, but Jack Grealish misses out through injury.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are unchanged after last weekend’s goalless draw at Brighton and Hove Albion.

    Is there a reason why I'd want to get a 4.5 defender like Dunk or Strujik over Patterson at 4.0?

    I mean, clearly they've been scoring more points, but probably not enough to often get off the bench.

        Technically 4.6 but you make a decent point. I do have Gabriel already, though, so I guess the question really should boil down to another transfer. Whether or not I need that 0.6 for a significant upgrade elsewhere or spend it to get more width.

      It’s not a bad team at all. Most of those players have good home fixtures next week. No need to panic.
      Only player I would look at replacing is Walker for maybe Dunk or Saliba.

    Haalannd hhhmmm, not going to get easier for him vs Palace 5 ATB. Let's see how it goes for him GW4 though but I think all of us overhyped him slightly when we were all fiddling with our teams before GW1 started. He is a top player without a doubt but this is obviously not the Bundesliga and he may not be the right type of player for City.

    It is still early doors of course but I think Jesus could match him for points this season for much less £. Again to early to say but not impossible. Jesus has fit in seamlessly as well at Arsenal so in 3 to 5 GW's from now, if the current trend continues, I might jump Haaland.

    Once Darwin is back, things are really going to get really steamy.

    For the last two season I have always have James when he does not score points, and the second I take him out of my team he starts scoring points, I am just going to keep him in my team all season so it is impossible that I don't get his hauls.
