Our regular look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) set-piece takers details which players are on penalties, corner-kicks and free-kicks at their respective clubs.

Our Set-Piece Takers tab rounds up our estimated pecking order at any given time but these shorter-term recaps look at what’s happened in the Gameweek just gone.

A not insignificant 21.8% of all goals scored in the Premier League last season came from set plays, with penalties responsible for a further 7.8%.

Based on the data collection in our Premium Members Area, here is a breakdown from the latest round of matches (Liverpool and Manchester United will be added after tonight’s match).

GAMEWEEK 3: KEY OBSERVATIONS AND NOTEWORTHY CHANGES

  • With the season settling down, set-piece pecking orders are starting to become apparent and there were few notable changes on the corner/indirect free-kick front from Gameweek 2.
  • New signings and budget assets Neco Williams (£4.0m), Andreas Pereira (£4.5m) and Marcus Tavernier (£5.0m) have added direct free-kick responsibility on top of their duties from corners and indirect free-kicks, each registering an effort in Gameweek 3.
  • Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) has now scored with three of the four direct free-kicks he has taken for Newcastle United.
  • Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) was again on penalty-taking duties for Crystal Palace but this was his third miss in six attempts from 12 yards.
  • Alexis Mac Allister (£5.5m) has now taken Brighton and Hove Albion’s last three penalties, scoring the most-recent two attempts. Pascal Gross (£5.7m) was on the field for Mac Allister’s spot-kick in Gameweek 3.

Anyone got any early thoughts on what games Haaland will be rested in. Pep seems to indicate it’s likely total rest rather than being subbed off or subbed on.

If he plays once a week he could miss the Forest game plus UCL games given these should be easier opposition at this stage?

Missing the Forest game would be a bummer though!

Did anybody else go triple pool defence in gw1? I did, to my frustration and embarrassment. Thought I'd have hauled 9 cleansheets by the end of tonight. Whatever happens tonight, I've got to stick with it for the bournemouth game, no?

Is it a surprise that some prominent question spammers are doing poorly already? When people advise you to pick your own team and make your own decision it isn't out of hatred or anything like that, it's because mostly you will just be herded towards the obvious decision with no critical thinking and it off the bat shows you're not confident in your own knowledge and decisions

Like your idea with going Salah and a midfield full of 4.5 and 5.0 enabler starters.

      That is spamming.

      1. @persecuted_by_mods
        3 years, 12 months ago

I think you've got the wrong person mate, you may be consistently and hilariously wrong a lot but I at least respect you make your own decisions and own them

I didn't suggest starting 4.5 and 5.0s ever. They're just not the worst options to have on your bench or to rotate with, as seen this week

My post is referring to the guys constantly spamming A or B, or not being able to make a single decision without asking the community

Played like a second striker. Alot of deep runs into the box.
Also new captain. Thats means less rotation maybe.

I transfered him in for Kulusevski last night and upgraded Neco Williams to Saliba with the funds.

I have a very similar team, except Perisic and Gross instead of Dunk and Gundo. Chose to get Gross for Rashford exactly to have enough funds to upgrade Iversen.

Out of all your players i would say Kulu or James look like the best candidates for downgrading.

    Which option on WC:

    A) Gundogan + Gross
    B) Zaha + Rodrogo

Leaning B, but slightly concerned by Bamford's return.

Rodrigo scored 4 goals and got 1 assist in 3 games, even if Bamford was fully fit he would not be played above Rodrigo in this form.

    Ederson
    Saliba - TAA - Trippier
    Salah - Diaz - Martinellli - Rodrigo
    Haaland - Jesus - Toney

    Steele / Dunk - Andreas - Neco W

It might be better to do a wildcard than to take a hit, the template is very strong.

Played my Wildcard this week, wish I hadn't!

Brought in Martinelli and lost Harrison which definitely hurts, even though I still think that long-term it's the right decision. Went with Cancelo and James due to not having them initially, then both those defences showing the shakiness that went into why I didn't go with them from the start.

Most annoying was probably the fact that Kristensen actually kept a clean sheet in the most unlikely game and Havertz came in to do absolutely nothing, whilst Wilson got a goal. Andreas on bench not great but I think a lot of players will have benched him.

I do like the look of my team going forward but for an immediate kick in the teeth that GW (especially the Leeds v Chelsea game) really stung.

It's just one GW and a poor one for plenty, especially for defenders and keepers. Keep calm, 3/38 nearly done and 3 in a short spell to help you bounce back.

      It is one GW.

You hit your WC for a reason. It does not matter if you want to change a player now using your FT.

Some on here say a WC is for many weeks but then silently make changes the following GW.

Don't follow crowds. Play your own game.

Hey Andy, just wanted to say sorry about the argument yesterday. I didnt mean for it to degenerate into a spat & made some impulsive, regretful replies. Nothing against you personally. No hard feelings I hope?

Yeah I used the wildcard probably in error to 'correct' my lack of highly owned players, specifically James and Cancelo. Then lost players like Harrison as collateral even though he was doing ok for me. Ultimately, I had a plan and I panicked and didn't stick to it which is frustrating. Would've had 25 points more had I not made a rash decision but hopefully I am now better set up going forward and will gain those points back with the new plan.

    1FT 0itb

    Sanchez-(Ward)
    TAA-Robbo-Cancelo-James-Neco
    Salah-Saka-Martinelli-(Andreas)(4.5)
    Haaland-Jesus-(4.5)

    Considering:
    A) Roll transfer (means playing Neco(TOT))
    B) Saka + Neco -> Rodrigo + Perisic (-4)
    C) Roll transfer and do Saka + Neco -> Zaha + Saliba GW5

    1. Better Call Raul

Could also roll transfer and do B) next week for free.

Not crazy about replacing Saka(FUL) with Rodrigo(bha) for a hit. But Neco defo needs upgrading

Having 4 outfield fodder backs you into a corner where you're forced to play one of them.

Actually think Neco has some good value at 4.0 and with Andreas are good bench options to have. I wouldn't get rid.

Think you're better off downgrading one of your premium defenders and using the funds to upgrade the nameless 4.5 mid
