Our regular look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) set-piece takers details which players are on penalties, corner-kicks and free-kicks at their respective clubs.

Our Set-Piece Takers tab rounds up our estimated pecking order at any given time but these shorter-term recaps look at what’s happened in the Gameweek just gone.

A not insignificant 21.8% of all goals scored in the Premier League last season came from set plays, with penalties responsible for a further 7.8%.

Based on the data collection in our Premium Members Area, here is a breakdown from the latest round of matches (Liverpool and Manchester United will be added after tonight’s match).

GAMEWEEK 3: KEY OBSERVATIONS AND NOTEWORTHY CHANGES

  • With the season settling down, set-piece pecking orders are starting to become apparent and there were few notable changes on the corner/indirect free-kick front from Gameweek 2.
  • New signings and budget assets Neco Williams (£4.0m), Andreas Pereira (£4.5m) and Marcus Tavernier (£5.0m) have added direct free-kick responsibility on top of their duties from corners and indirect free-kicks, each registering an effort in Gameweek 3.
  • Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) has now scored with three of the four direct free-kicks he has taken for Newcastle United.
  • Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) was again on penalty-taking duties for Crystal Palace but this was his third miss in six attempts from 12 yards.
  • Alexis Mac Allister (£5.5m) has now taken Brighton and Hove Albion’s last three penalties, scoring the most-recent two attempts. Pascal Gross (£5.7m) was on the field for Mac Allister’s spot-kick in Gameweek 3.

Feel like this could be Maddison's best ever season. Was great second half of last season and has continued that form into this year.

With Vardy's minutes being managed I think Maddison is easily the best Leicester player to own. Anyone else looking to get him in?

Will probs get on WC for that juicy turn of fixtures come GW9. Agree with you, he's in great form in 2022.

I'm wary of relying on a good player in a poor team. Will he keep carrying them, or will a point come when he loses some of his mojo?

      I would say

      Sanchez 4.5M
      Ramsdale 5M
      Ederson 5.5M

All good option at their price point

    Morning all,

Am i being stubborn keeping Saka?
Read a great post from someone yesterday on here saying its due to White being at right back and hes being doubled up on.
I think he'll come good, but season before last i held onto Werner for too long - not comparing the 2 btw

Saka is interesting Arsenal seem to be focusing on passing the ball to Jesus instead of Saka, at the moment I would say good transfer options look like Diaz Rodrigo maybe even Gundogan or Martinelli if you don't have him. Saka may still prove to be a good option.

I feel like I couldn't be happier with my current squad and yet my rank is RANK and the points aren't flowing as well as I'd wanted. The upcoming fixtures tick all the boxes so I guess I just hold fire for now, so frustrating tho.....what a game!

Are you sure though? Personally, I don't think it was. I still stand by my squad as a whole. It's common for a few anomalous results early doors, like when City conceded 5 to Leicester.

I'm happy with my squad. But if all the time I put in is gonna get me a rank of 7 million by the end of week 3. You have to ask yourself what was the point?

It’s a game of luck. You picked a totally solid team based on planning. Long term it should pay off, if you stay on top of the game and pay attention you’ll rise as others fall away.

The ranks are a nonsense this early, full of people using chips every other week. Wouldn't focus too much on it

Here is how I see it, if your OR is crappy this week but your Game week rank is better than your OR, you know you might be on your way to hopefully to getting yourself moving up.

If your OR is crap and your Gameweek rank is also crap in let's say GW5, then start stressing.

          • 7 Years

Yup, always look at your OR and then compare your GW rank.

If your GW rank is better than your OR in GW4 then less bad decisions 🙂

Practically can't do anything with 1FT 0ITB. Will save FT for mini WC GW5.

Who will be the player(s) whom I should recruit GW5?
    A. Zaha

    D. Gundogan

    Sanchez (Ward)
    TAA Robbo James Cancelo (Neco)

Usually I go around in circles all day, and then either watch that player haul after if I didn't get him in, or blank if I pull the trigger and take the hit! 🙂

Seriously though, if you're really sure about an (attacking) player with good fixtures, I feel it's usually better to take the hit - especially as it's that time of the season when certain key combos will soon become impossible.

Of course, you'll have to be selective as you can't beat every rise. Good luck!

Comes down to how badly you want that player, whether he's more than a short term transfer, and if he would significantly improve your team.

Would prefer not to take the hit though but if I felt that my team would be stronger and time is an issue then I'd take the hit

    6. FOO FIGHTER
      • 7 Years
      3 years, 12 months ago

If you think that player will balance out the hit and you do not have other players at 4.9m stinking your team up on the bench then yes, it is not the end to take a -4.

You could even cap the new player you get in if you feel he will get you points 😉

What's the best way to improve this squad with £1m itb, please?

The cash was earmarked for Zinchenko > James, but changed my mind and now stuck what to do!

Should I just roll the transfer, or maybe upgrade Archer to a playing striker for more cover?

Kept Saka and Mount in the hope they would turn up and catch me points.

    Salah Saka Mount Bailey

    Iverson | Andreas | Greenwood | N Williams

    TAA James Walker Tripper (Neco)
Dasilva Salah Martinelli (Andreas KDH )

    2 FT & 0.5 itb

    Salah Martinelli Gross
    Haaland Jesus Toney

Then don't do the transfers yet.

If your GWR has been cut in half by tonight, then decide if a -4 is worth it or not.

I'm not trying to beat up on you. Just doesn't make any sense to let the ratio of GW rank / OR rank determine transfers. Happy to be proven wrong though if you can explain it better...?

Scored from a free kick otherwise didn't do much. He works well with Vardy who's out of form which doesn't help Maddi. Also, Rodgers playing him more deeper than I like, due to Tielemans not playing.
