Rank isnt great though - made some silly risk moves early doors and then had to correct. Playing

Ya but Mitrovic i plan to bench the next two so need some decent 11 - Zinchenko i plan to bench the next 2 weeks anyway

He seemed more then fine yesterday when running around on the sidelines celebrating - i may even start him in my 11 as could see a random Walker benching mid week just in case

It's definitely holdable, but there's an argument to switch to Saliba and bank some cash?

May captain Salah this week given the doubts on Haaland starting.

Fyi - who is the top midfielder in the entire league so far overall xGi?

hint : Its yet again Salah

Anyone selling is digging their own grave - previous points are not a great indicator of future performance

Second Fyi : Both Gross and Rodrigo have excellent underlying stats so isnt point chasing - Buying Odegaard is points chasing.

    1. CABAYE4
      • 14 Years
      3 years, 7 months ago

Agree on Salah - though I won’t captain this GW.

Disagree on the 2nd point - Odegaard to outscore Rodrigo over the rest of the season. Underlying stats mean very little after 4 games - Rodrigo’s had some close to 1XG chances.

      1. FPL_trail_runner
        • 5 Years
        3 years, 7 months ago

Rodrigo having close to 1xG chances are good indicators

The best players are those able to create such chances

yes i dont think he will continue at this rate but his underlyings are good

        Odeegarrd is massively overperforming.

Rodrigo im happy to hold for at least4 weeks and maybe then move to Bowen / Maddisson / Zaha

Is it ok to post his xGi data the past 4 weeks in summary ?

      Lets see

Who has the biggest xGi across the league over 4 games of every midfielder?

      Answer : Salah

Again its odd ive been saying this for years and still people here are going on eye test - every single well run club is running their recruitment via underlying data analytics. The best players are those who can put up high xG/xGi

its shown to be the best predictor of longterm future ability to perform - Salah putting up more if this xGi again and having done so for 5-6 years is all good

ps. Nice irony in you saying people are using one week of data incorrectly to make a judgement call (no people are not )and then you are ---....using one week of data against United to make a call ( yes you are)

Good luck betting against the best metric in sports analytics

There's always some risk of rotation but Cucurella is pretty nailed - you don't spend £62m on a LB you're going to constantly chop and change in and out of the side.

You're not wrong. He played 22 league games at LB last year & got 5 assists, compared to 14 at RB where he recorded 1G 2A. Its the shift of the role & tactics, not just LB/RB

Its not the LB position its how he operates within it. No attempt to get to byeline and no crosses for the big man. Tends to now assist the assister. After Forest and if I have no other issue he is next

    What do we do now?
With such a limited choice regarding transfers, where people are reverting to changing 4.5's and the like and the GW so far where the only real difference between scores was the captain picks or the differentials; we are left with some dilemmas.
If you moved Haaland out do you bring him back? Do you captain him over the likes of Salah, KDB, Kane etc. who are nailed and will get you minutes?
Do you need an Arsenal defender when you don't have one and there is a clean sheet, 80% do have and it will hurt?
Do you get the likes of Mitro over Toney regardless of Fixtures?
Is Gross a flash in the pan and we missed the boat with him to get Rodrigo?
What about Perisic? Like Haaland can we handle both the up and downsides?

Big decisions to be made but very limited.

Nobody is going to cap Haaland GW5, well probably the minority.

I'm staying away from Salah, not because of yesterday, Salah still looked dangerous, but I think we have learned that Pool share out attacking returns between a lot of guys, I have Trent and Diaz and I'm very content with that, I think Tsimikas performance also shows that klopp has a great option to increasingly rest Robbo as the busy schedule picks up, so I think Robbo isn't actually value compared to Trent.
Having these 2 only, frees up a lot of funds to keep Haaland and Jesus and still have flexibility to jump on other bandwagons as they come along. I'm strongly turning my attention to Bruno F right now for example

Your last sentence is the most poignant IMO. When to make the decision and who to move out.

Wish I knew haha keep a good team structure to make transfers flexible and easy. This is why I am reluctant to sell maddispn I like to keep that 8m spot available.

Gonna give my two cents on these 🙂

      1) Haaland is a must have IMO, explosive striker playing for the best team in the league. You will just need to accept the odd rotation here and there.

      2) Think everyone should have one Arsenal defender as their immediate fixtures are still pretty good. My choice is Saliba.

      3) Mitro and Toney are both good choices. I like Toney for the next few, then switch to Mitro when Fulham's fixtures ease up a bit.

      4) Gross is playing quite far forward this season and will keep the points ticking unless Brighton hit a sticky patch of form.

      5) Perisic is a don't buy / don't sell for me at the moment. I still prefer the more nailed options like TAA, James and Cancelo.

        1. Spot on
        2. I'm on Gabriel, but yeah, I see why you chose Saliba for obvious reasons
        3. Agreed, I'm on Mitro (with Haaland and Jesus fixed) but you're right about Toney, worth watching.
        4. I need to see Brighton keep up this early form before I commit to anyone else (currently have Sanchez )
        5. Loving owning Perisic but I will be continuously anxious waiting for the line ups to be announced every week!

A long way to go. A screamer yesterday does not make him an option at this point in time.

It wasn't the goal, it's his constant arrivals into the box, the fact he's captain, the fact that Ronaldo is down and out, elevating Bruno's performances, confidence and pen duties. I also think when Martial is fit, and if ETH gets a winger signing over the line, suddenly Bruno is the only nailed Attacker. But yeah, the goal was nice and will give him confidence and give ETH reassurance for sure, it definitely helped

one to watch for sure. 10mil is alot though, you'd probably pick Sterling before Bruno.

I need to shift Bruno G, and I will downgrade Robbo significantly, then I believe I've got Bruno F in my Cross-hairs 🙂

    My bench next gw is

Ward (MUN), Andreas (BHA), Patterson (lee), Toney (cry).

Time to bench boast or is it too risky during a midweek gw?

Wouldn't be too bothered about Ward, Andreas or Patterson.

Who are you playing over Toney? He's the only one I'd be concerned to miss points from.

I’m not bothered about these players, more a question about the starting eleven players such as Robbo or even Haaland

So hyped to purge my team of Mason Mount this week - if he still gets in the 11 for Qatar in this form then Southgate has a lot to answer for. He looks so short of confidence it’s almost like he’s forgotten how to play football.

Liverpool next 5 GWs (NEW, eve, WOL, che, BHA) dont look like lots of goals in my opinion. But I can see some CS in there.

Robertson getting 70min will decrease his attacking output put improve his chance for CS.

Is there a case for keeping Robertson over Diaz until WC GW9?

Diaz is currently ranked 28th of all mids for xGI involvement since the season began

He is over-performing and isnt a must buy
