The Scoreboard presents all the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) numbers you need from Wednesday’s matches all on one screen, from LiveFPL‘s rundown of the goals, assists and bonus points to the underlying Opta stats that have freshly arrived in our Premium Members Area.

Erling Haaland (£11.8m) was the star turn of the evening with a hat-trick and a 17-point haul, with Gameweek 5 captaincy rival Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) having to make do with two assists in Liverpool’s last-gasp 2-1 win over Newcastle United – a match in which Alexander Isak (£7.0m) scored on his Magpies debut.

Gabriel Martinelli (£6.4m) and Gabriel Jesus (£8.2m) continued their fine starts to the season with goals for Arsenal against struggling Aston Villa, while Harry Kane (£11.4m) made it four attacking returns in as many matches with an assist in Tottenham Hotspur’s draw with West Ham United.

Managerless Bournemouth, the side thrashed 9-0 by Liverpool on Saturday, managed to hold Wolverhampton Wanderers to a goalless draw: that’s now just two goals in five matches for Bruno Lage’s troops.

Our usual Scout Notes article, which summarises more of the main FPL talking points, notable manager quotes and injury news, will follow tomorrow morning.

After back to bsck hattys, the question even seems a bit funny to ask. But gotta be asked I guess.

    Captain:

    A: Haaland
    B: KDB
    C: Salah

Haaland is widely expected to be benched against Villa so I would look elsewhere. There is the possibility that he isn't since he came off early but given the games coming up (Sevilla, Spurs, Dortmund, Wolves), I think it's inevitable

He's not getting benched. Fell for that one already.

As was seen with Agüero, Pep is far more concerned about player fitness and squad rhythm than individual records

If Haaland breaks a record and his hamstring goes, what do they actually gain?

"I tell you now when we have games every three days that Erling will not play, I will play Julian [Alvarez]"

          Villa (3 days)
          Sevilla (3 days)
          Spurs (4 days)
          Dortmund (4 days)
          Wolves (3 days)

If he's starting against Villa then who is he getting rested against?

I think he'll get rested against Villa and Wolves. City need to wrap up their CL group as soon as possible and will field strong teams from their 1st 2 CL games to avoid a bad start. Can't see him being rested against Spurs either.

May have his minutes managed in those 3 middle games but think he'll start all of them

He's had injury history and between last night's game and Wolves, City are playing 6 games in 18 days. Pep won't care about records, he'll care about having him fit for the majority of the season. There has rarely been any midfielder or forward that he will never bench, especially not someone that has had a history with injuries

Pep just benched KDB, and has promised to bench Haaland in the current circumstances, in clear words

It's hard to take missing his hat tricks, but that won't be reversed by capping him when Pep's most likely to bench him

Yes, there's a chance he starts or hauls off the bench. But many things point at a rest here

Haaland may well be benched but you have a choice to weigh up

1 - just captian Haaland, his EO will mean you will not drop too much if he is rested and blanks
2 - captain some one else, and if they haul and Haaland is rested and blanks then you will rise like a phoenix out of the ashes

      1 is the safe option
      2 is ballsy

Do you have the cahunas for 2? 😉

I expect Haaland to be benched, and will be unlikely to be called on as sub. Kevin is the man for this weekend, or Salah if you don't have him.

    A or B?
0.7m in the bank, 1 FT

    Sanchez
    TAA Cancelo Trippier Neco
    Salah Martinelli Gross
    Toney Haaland (c) Jesus

    Ward Cucurella Andreas *Rodrigo*

    A) Rodrigo, Cucurella -> Zaha, Gabriel (-4) (Gabriel would be benched this GW and used next GW)
    B) Save FT (And do Rodrigo, Toney -> Darwin, 5m bench mid next GW for free)

A few random stats from the early games of the season:

    - City unsurprisingly have the best goal difference, expected goals and expected goals against stats
    - Ignoring Forest and Bournemouth (considering recent thumpings), Aston Villa have the worst goal difference, with Leicester a goal behind them but still to play this gameweek. Leicester have also conceded the most goals outside of Forest and Bournemouth (10)
    - Everton are just shy of having the highest expected goals against (8.6, to Forest's 8.7)
    - Liverpool have taken the most shots (94), while City and Arsenal have the most shots on target (32)
    - Away from the top 6, Everton, Brentford and Leeds lead the way for shots on target
    - Fulham and Southampton have the worst pass completion rate in the division (you don't even need to wonder who has the best)
    - Everton, Palace and Southampton have made the most tackles in their own defensive third, while Chelsea, Brighton and Fulham have won the ball the most in the attacking third
    - Bournemouth, West Ham and (somewhat surprisingly) Spurs have the fewest touches in the final third
    - Forest, Bournemouth and again Spurs have conceded the most shots, although Spurs have by far conceded the highest number of off-target attempts
    - Outside of Forest and Bournemouth, Brentford, Newcastle, Villa and Chelsea have conceded the most on-target shots
    - The lowest number of shots Forest have conceded in a game was yesterday against City (17) and after that against Spurs (18)
    - Forest, ManUtd, Villa and Fulham have received the most yellow cards, while Villa, Leeds and Palace have made the most fouls

A big part of that has been Everton’s style of play - no recognised striker in all but one of the games (Rondon) with almost no ball retention further up the field. They have invited pressure in their own half in every game - and have actually looked decent as a defensive unit - but that style of play racks up lots of half chances with low Xga building up.

I think they looked better again against Leeds - first time starting with a 4 3 3 - and I think they’ll play the same formation against Liverpool, but with a recognised striker - Maupay.

    Sanchez (Ward)
    TAA, Cancelo, Trip, Neco (Jonny)
    Salah, Diaz, Martinelli, Gross (Rodrigo)
    Haaland, Jesus (Archer)

Would you guys roll the FT?
Or anything needed here, Rodrigo obvious one out.

Jesus now in 80% of teams
    Haaland in 70% in teams

EO will be playing a bigger factor than ever this year wrt captaincy.

This is going to be a very difficult season.

    1. Third Eye Vision
      • 13 Years
      3 years, 7 months ago

Yeah, but Jesus’s captaincy will be fairly low, so his EO will probably be around 100% taking dead teams into account - and in the higher ranks, maybe around 80% - so he’s not really a problem if you own him.

The Haaland/Salah EO will be harder to navigate.

ASM always a fitness issue though.

You could take a short term punt on one of the Leeds attackers/JWP or roll the transfer and do two 1 week punts for gw7.

    For all this...

"Erling Haaland (£11.8m) was the star turn of the evening with a hat-trick and a 17-point haul, with Gameweek 5 captaincy rival Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) having to make do with two assists in Liverpool’s last-gasp 2-1 win over Newcastle United."

If you have both Haaland and Salah and captained Salah this week it's only 7 points less.

So the hattrick was only 7 points more with the max bonus than Salah's 2 assists from midfield and 2 point bonus.

93 all out. Anyone beat that? Nice little rank rise there but still around the million mark after a few odd weeks where I didn't do much wrong really. Good score despite Neto and Havertz continuing to let down the side!

Need to let one of them go this week. Most likely Havertz who may well get dropped from the Chelsea team after another poor review. With two free transfers tempting to do both though and bring in Gross or MacAllister from Brighton. Would you keep Neto for one more week?
Toney or Isak in for Havertz?

86 with one to come. Nice. No changes for GW6 but a very real possibility only 6 start and all the progress of this GW is undone.

Tough choice of CD for my morning drive to the shops to grab some weekly essentials. Drum & Bass Arena 2013 or The Very Best of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Are price changes more abundant this year? Feels like it. Haven't done that badly, but still I'm losing value like a falling rock

Feels a lot quicker for the rise and drop but maybe it's because couple years ago it's only 7 million players and today is around 10 mil ?

Shouldn't matter if it's percentage based. But maybe it's not. Or they changed the algorithm.

Thing is, with the wildcard rules now, could be that a fine use of it would have been to protect/increase value and do a bit of "tidying up"

The clean sheet odds are indeed better for Newcastle than Gross scoring………it’s a tough one though with Crystal Palace having a tendency to score on the road

Yeah, that’s probably the right way to do it…..I have to protect value on Rodrigo so will end up with an extra player

Crazy amount of people last night failed to fathom what MINIMUM 5 minutes added time means, Nick Pope was rolling around like a tosspot for 2 minutes inside stoppage time. Great refereeing

What do you think of Mitrovic to Isaak? Few tough games coming for Fulham but he is scoring. Isaak looked really lively last night though and Newcastle, who have been decent already, always better with a 9. I had Mitrovic before the price rises so I make profit but buy back isn't free.

Hi please can I have some advice?
I have 2FT but happy with my team.

    Ramsdale* (Gazzaniga)*
    TAA - Cancelo - James* - Trippier - N.Williams
    Martinelli - Salah - Díaz - Groß - Andreas
    Jesus - Haaland

    Archer (Fodder)

Should I ship James or Ramsdale maybe?

I missed robbos price drop today was looking at potentially down grading and upgrading archer to Toney. Has the boat sailed now that I’ve missed -0.2 and see it out or do it still?

Who do you think will score more points, Robbo or Toney?

That's the only question that matters.

(I vote Robbo btw, Matip was on the bench last game)

I don't think 3 big hitters are sensible, given you can only captain one at a time.

Also you're missing the biggest one, Haaland. He needs to be a priority.

          Have a WC?

Stones out maybe. Akanji just signed. More competition.

Will free up a City slot for Haaland next week.

Given KDB's rest, might as well keep this week. But I think Haaland is the best City captain long-term, so might want to spread the KDB funds out soon.

Stones will play this week as Pep will not change in def..
Next week I can use wildcard and spread the funds

There are too many affordable players this season to be bothered by price changes

And the market is far, far too reactive this season. Two underwhelming GWs, and a player is close to dropping. Probably because, again, there are many good alternatives

Heck, some people sold Haaland after he only got one assist against Bournemouth and one goal vs Newcastle

Focus on points potential. You'll still afford a great team if you start with 100m on a new account today:

      Sanchez Ward
      Trent Cancelo Cucurella Trippier Williams
      Salah Groß Martinelli Andreas 4.5
      Toney Håland Jesus
